OK so end of season update:

I finished last in my CL group :shocker: - I was able to sneak a point against BMG, and honestly should have have had a 2nd but BMG scored at the death in the home matchup :(

I won the league with 3-4 matches left. Only lost 1 game in the second half of the season. I wasn't getting much out of my strikers consistently, as it was a couple youth kids and only one proven vet. In the league I had 2 players get 10+ goals, one of which only played in 23/36 games due to inconsistency. I used a dick ton of youth players, and have a very young squad overall, so there were some struggles, but my defense was amazing. Only conceded 34 goals in 36 league matches.

Also won the Swiss Cup to get the double. In January I lost one of my top youngsters. 17yo LB that a couple EPL teams were after. Ended up getting 5mil straight, with 40% of his next transfer coming my way. Also getting Arsenal to come to Switzerland for a friendly :rain: It's going to be an interesting summer with how many good youngsters I have. I think there's going to be a lot of bigger clubs trying to get them. I have 6mil in transfer and 50k in wages available.

Oh, and Dortmund just offered me an interview :x

I got offered the Sevilla job but turned it down as I don't want to go to the same club you did MA

I also don't really care to go to Spain. I think I'm going to hold out for a solid German team

Transfer window is closed. I made it through without anyone trying to buy my important players. These were my two major signings. The striker just completed his move so I haven't got to play him yet. Paid 250k compensation. He scored 26 goals over two seasons in Colombia.

Midfielder has been great. Played in every game so far, and have had multiple German/Spanish clubs trying to get him on loan.

Interviewed for a few more spots but only got offered the Sevilla spot, which I turned down.

Team has struggled a bit to start the year. Lots of youth in the club, but most are entering their second season of first team ball. Goals have been inconsistent, but my stud youth product up front has 4 goals in 6 games which has been nice.

Champions League draw was much nicer to me this year. Drew SLB, Roma, and Dynamo Kyiv. I don't imagine I will get top 2, but really hoping I can get third to get more money in Europa.

    I hate my team.

But also, Barcelona, who didn't even give me an interview, is currently sitting 11th after 11 matches. :loldog:

Also transfer fees are insane. Scouting just popped up that the minimum cost to get Marcus Rashford would be 127M.

Edit: Also apparently Arsene Wenger has the worst opinion of me. No idea why as I've never faced him.

Atlanta United lost to PSG in the Club World Cup Final. 1-1 at regulation, 2-2 at extra time, and then 7-8 in penalties. It'll be a match for LGP to forget as he gave up a penalty in regulation and then missed the deciding pk.

One of the coaches I hired took over full time and did really well though. Made it there, and also won the US Open Cup, Supporters' Shield, and MLS Cup. He's now listed as Favored Personnel, right there with me (still bitter I didn't get Legend or even Icon status after what I built there).

Having slunk to 14th place, 28 points off leaders Real Madrid, Barcelona has sacked Unai Emery.

I did, honestly really surprised because I didn't get the job at Inter, Arsenal, or Atl Madrid when they came open. Madrid specifically said it was because I was at a Spanish club and they thought it'd be too controversial.

But in the interview I told them I didn't need to hire anyone and could get them back in a Europa spot with a smaller transfer and wage budget than offered. We'll see if my mouth wrote a check my ass can't cash.

Sevilla was doing fine. 3rd place, 12 off Real Madrid and 5 off Atl Madrid. 16 above Barcelona. Also finished 2nd in our UCL group to PSG, above Leverkusen and APOEL.

Was just a frustrating experience there. Every CM they had was a natural only at DLP and AP and it took me a while to get that figured out into something that'd work. Their defense and its depth (3 CB, 1 LB, 5 RB) just sucked and constantly leaked goals. I didn't get into double digit GD until Christmas. Also didn't help that I had two three-week long stretches where I had a match every 3 days. Hard to get the lads cohesive on a new tactic with so many fixtures.

Year 2 probably would've been really good cause I had some system guys I'd bought and some youth coming through. But I was really over my CMs unable to string two passes together in a short passing game.

Barcelona is gonna be interesting though. A quick look at their squad says La Masia isn't what it used to be. Only two youngsters with better than 4 star potential. And they only have 4 first team players under the age of 25. 14 are 30 or over though. It's as if they haven't made any moves since they bought Dembele and Paulinho, which was two years ago in game. Hilariously it says the latter has still yet to make an appearance.

So we'll see what happens. Probably need to sell someone as I have no money in the transfer budget and my wonderkid striker from Atlanta is finally getting European offers.

    Mini update:

Iniesta is on 375k p/w wages and is valued 675k.

It's mid-February. We sit 7th in the table, about 3 points out of 6th I think. Turns out, I shit you not, the guy I replaced was running a defensive counter formation focused on set pieces. At Barcelona. As you might expect, they're much better playing a high tempo, pressing, possession-oriented game.

I have a backup at every position which is nice. At times my second string has outperformed my first string. Such as when I lost at home to A Madrid 4-3 in the league, but then beat their first string 6-0 with my backups in the cup.

I've made the final for that, despite having to play them and Sevilla, and using my backups because the board doesn't care about the competition. It'll be against San Sebastian after their shock upset of R Madrid. Have my first knockout round of UCL coming up. It's Vitesse so going to see if I can squeak by with my backups.

I think maybe star ratings have some level of club dependency, because my really good scout at Sevilla rated my Atlanta kid at a 4/4.5. But my really good scout here has him at a 2.5/3.5. Also was informed that one of the kids in my youth team has the potential to be better than Messi. It even said "one of the best" in the description of his potential.

My big issues right now are 1) spending 300k p/w more than I can afford 2) Dembele is out of form and wants to go to PSG to play with better people, he even went from 4 stars to 3 in CA 3) my defenders don't get ball-side of players on crosses and I want to murder them.

I guess that wasn't really a "mini" update.

I bought 18 in November. Did a few seasons with Wolves who are almost god like in that game. Got a bit bored. Started a new save with Wolfsburg.

the 3 in the back with 3 AMCs is so overpowered in the game. Trying to run out a 4-4-1-1 now just for something a little more realistic.

Just got FM18 and started a Swansea save of course just to see how it plays and the new features. Scouting is weird to me so far.

Really looking forward to a lower league save and build up though. Just not sure if I want to do an English team, found a database down to level 10 that looks interesting.

    Winter Break 18-19 Update

League: Having CL to go along with league gave me some difficult weeks in terms of matches and rotations. Despite the tough start, the team got going and are currently first on GD. After 18 games, I got 35 points with a +17 GD, 8 better than 2nd place.. My Colombian youngster has been pretty awesome this season, with 11 league goals to his name. My young Swiss striker has 6 goals as well, and his value has gone up quite a bit.

Europe: As I mentioned before, I got a favorable draw in CL. I opened up with a 1-0 home win over Kyiv. Followed that with a 0-2 loss at Roma, and then a late 1-0 defeat at home to Benfica. Went to Benfica and lost 2-3, which put me in a tough spot. Went to Ukraine and beat Kyiv 2-0 on Matchday 5, leaving me with a chance at advancing if I won and results went my way. Going into final day I was 3rd with 6 points, ahead of Kyiv on GD. SLB and Roma were both on 9 points. I proceeded to thrash Roma 3-0 at home on match day 6, and combined with Kyiv beating SLB, I was able to win the group on GD, with all 4 teams in the group having 9 points. Craziest thing I've seen.

As I mentioned before the Colombian kid(Asparilla) has been amazing for me. 6 league starts, 3 appearances off the bench, and he has 11 goals. Also has 1 goal in 3 starts and 2 subs in CL. Value is now at 5.75mil(signed for 850k). The Senegalese CM has been really good as well. 13 starts, with a 7.15 rating. Hasn't contributed a whole lot on the goal front, but has been really strong. Nguema, the young Swiss striker, has been really strong as well rotating with Asparilla.

    First knockout opponent is Leverkusen.

Went with Cockfosters and really having fun with this save. Fucking 9th tier is brutal, no money, no contracts, no attendance lol.

Team if non contract players has gone well. Had a great FA Cup run getting to the 4th qualifying round and a replay with Brackley Town but ultimately they had too much for us.

Unfortunately busted out of the FA Vase in the 2nd qualifying round and didn't meet expectations there.

In the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division we are sitting 2nd with 3 games in hand. 11 played and we've won 10 and drew one. Really dominating the league so I'm expecting promotion for sure.

Gonna be a long grind it out save before even beginning to think about League Football but so far pretty entertaining

    End of Season 18-19

League: Won the league by 10 points. Finished with a +32 GD, 3 better than Basel who had a strong second half to the season and got to the second CL spot. Asparilla led the team with 16 league goals, and a 7.35 avg rating. Second was my young Swiss striker, Nguema with 12. Considering the youth of the two, it made the season kind of frustrating with a lot of 1-0 wins, and not many big scoring games.

Europe: Had an all timer in the first leg of the knockout stage. Finished a 3-3 draw with three huge away goals. Asparilla equalized in the 73' and I was able to hold out for the draw the final ~20' of the game. Unfortunately there wasn't really a "easy" draw in the quarters, and I drew Tottenham. They kicked my ass over two legs. I had a good chunk of the ball in both games, but could never put anything in the goal.

Unfortunately I do not think I will be able to keep either of the two young sensations I signed. Neither will sign new contracts as they don't think I there's a squad that can help accomplish their goals. I was able to get a 25mil release clause on the young Swiss striker, so I'm hoping that will ward teams off for a bit.

Dortmund's manager took the Man City job after Pep got fired, and apparently they have interest in me. I'll interview, and accept if offered. Dembele is still there :lovelove: (I'm playing 17 still). And if I get it I will do everything I can to sign Samb and Asparilla

So currently tied with Man U with 5 matches to go, up on them by +4 in GD. Have 3 relatively easy matches vs Bournemouth, Ipswitch, and Watford. 2 trickier matches vs Chelsea and Tottenham who are currently 5th and 7th respectively.

Just drew Man U in last game. Sucks it was sandwiched between CL quarter final legs vs Monaco. Won the first one on the road 3-1. Have Man U again in FA semi final soon too.

Average squad age is currently 22 and currently 13th in the league in salary with $82 mill. Man City is paying $295 mill for 4th place.

So vs Monaco I moved on 8-6 aggregate after a 5-5 draw which was just bonkers. Drew Real Madrid in semis. 0-0 away to them then won 4-0 at home thanks to 3 PKs given to me.
Then thankfully Arsenal came back from a 2-0 deficit and beat Bayern 4-0 to move on. Bayern won the Bundesliga by like 30 pts this year.

Have 2 matches left, still tired in pts. Away to Chelsea and home vs Watford. Man U has away to Ipswitch then away to Arsenal who is in 3rd. So I'd assume 4 pts minimum but likely 6 to win it. Going to be fun.

I enjoy 18 a lot. Finishing up my 2nd season at Wolfsburg. Look nailed on for 3rd, made it to the Quarters of the champions league (after knocking Man City out in the first knockout with a 0-3 second leg away victory that saw Pep get shit canned). My goal for the next season is get more "german." I did sign Leon Bailey (technically Jamaican) for 29 million USD when he said he was unhappy for like 2 minutes at leverkusen. Dude is filthy.

Been playing with a modified 4-4-1-1 with a Halfback DM and inverted wingers at the M (L) and M(R) spots. They make runs from deep and cut inside and it's beautiful.

Won on goal differential as we tied with 91 pts.

Beat Arsenal 5 times this year, twice in finals. Beat them in FA Cup and CL final. CL final was nuts, my top defender gets sent off in the 4th minute. Down 2-0 til the 70th minute when I pull 1 back. I get an OG to tie it in the 90th minute. I then outscore them 3-2 in extra time to win my first CL title, 5-4. My American wonderkid scored 4 of the goals.

I now move onto the World Cup 2022 being held in China and try to bring the US their first trophy. I have them up to 5th in the world. Pulisic is killing it for both club and country. He had 22 assists for me this season to go with 15 goals. In a group with Colombia, Finland, and South Korea so likely to move to the knockout rounds. I just have no depth so if anyone goes down I'm fucked.

Wow, I haven't done an update in too long.

Finished the 19/20 season in 3rd, 5 points off 2nd place Atl Madrid and 25 points of Real. Sevilla finished 5th, 7 points behind me.

Suarez, Messi, and ter Stegen made the TOTS.

I've continued to improve my staff, bringing on some guys I had at Atlanta, a guy from my Unterhaching save, and Thierry Henry. I've also bought pretty much all the top scouts in the game, and have like four in South America, five in Europe, and two in Africa.

The transfer marker is where the biggest stuff happened. I shipped out Cuadrado, Kostas Manolas, and Paco Alcacer for 124M. With that and my budget, I bought an RB, Benjamin Henrichs from Leverkusen (82M), a CM, Sergej Milinkovic Savic from Lazio, and a wonderkid DM and CB. That all cost me 152M. Rakitic put in a transfer request, stating that he wanted to go home, but luckily I was unable to sell him for even a fraction of his value, so he's still here tearing it up for me.

The season started out on fire. Won the Spanish Super Cup against Real, and then went on a 13 match unbeaten run in league play, drawing only once. Was also unbeaten in UCL, with only one draw. But then I came up against Atl Madrid. They drubbed me 6-0, no idea what happened. Including that result, I'm now 2-3 in my last 5 league matches. Messi and M-Savic have underperformed, both with Avg ratings under 7.1.

On the radar is that Suarez, Messi, ADM, Rackitic, Busquets, Pique, and Jordi Alba are all down to a couple years left. That's a fuck ton of talent to replace. Will most likely be bringing through their regens pretty quickly, at least the ones I'm getting with 10 years of play time.

On the bright side of things, the winter transfer window just opened and the board recently increased my transfer budget from the remaining 0 I had to 114M. Thankfully they did that before the Atl Madrid match.

Leading La Liga by a handful of points. About to have Monaco in the first leg of the first UCL knockout round. And still in the Copa del Rey as well.

So... I bought Pogba. For 230M (potentially 340). In hindsight it was really irresponsible and had me like 150k over budget for several months. But I really wanted to do it, so I did.

Was really Jekyll and Hyde away and home the rest of the season. Lost to San Sebastian away 1-4, and then won 3-0 at home in the Copa del Rey. Got past Monaco in UCL, then drew BMG away 2-2 and won 3-0 at home. Then beat Bayern 5-1 at home in the semi final, and lost 2-4 away. Just couldn't get it figured out.

I did win the Copa del Rey in extra time against Valencia. I also won the league by a handful of points. And, I was able to triumph over Manchester United 4-2 in the UCL final. That hurt my heart to do. Messi had 3 assists and Suarez had a brace. But arguably most key in the tournament was the play of Geoffrey Kondogbia. Pogba was competition locked from playing for me in UCL, but good ole Kondogbia stepped up and finished the competition with the 7th highest rating.

Eight of my players made Last Liga TOTS. Dembele was named PoY, Suarez finished 2nd, M-Savic finished 3rd. Suarez also won the Golden Boot. And I got beat out for coach of the year by the guy who finished 7th in the league. 7 of my players made UCL TOTS. Won defender, midfielder, and forward of the season. Suarez won the Golden Boot, averaging a goal every 77 minutes (he averaged one every 91 mins in the league).

Going into the offseason I need to replace a bunch of staff and find a left back. Also trying to sign my Brazilian wonderkid striker who's now at Leverkusen. He supposedly has a 29.5M release clause for UCL clubs, but it's not letting me trigger it. Also haven't been able to make any improvements or send guys on coaching courses due to my Pogba move, so hoping I get some relief on that front soon.

Fucking finally. Took Unterhaching from the 3rd Division to UCL winners and never got this. Only took 1.5 years at Barca.

Edit: Just confirmed a partnership with Deportivo Cali.

OK so about to start season 2. I'll give a short and sweet update.

League: 2nd - Bayern pulled away late. I was in the lead in like February, but UCL games had me rotating and I lost a few games late and Bayern pulled away

Europe: Semifinals. Lost to Man U in the semis 4-0 on agg. Never could get anything going on the attack. Expectations were to reach first knockout.

    Transfers
IN: CD Presnel Kimpembe for 11mil(PSG), CM Ibrahim Samb for 20mil+addons(Grasshoppers), GK Alban Lafont for 11.5 up to 15(Toulouse), ST Jefferson Asparilla for 18.75(Grasshoppers), and LB Enoch Owusu for 4.2mil(Astra Giurgiu), and a German youngster. Also got Mbappe on loan with a 40mil option to buy.

    SUMMER 19

OUT: Emre Mor 12.5(Fiorentina), Raphael Guerrero for 52mil up to 63(City), and Hakan Calhanoglu for 39 up to 49 to RBL. Calhanoglu was complaining from the time I got there about leaving.

Happy with the first season, end of the season and start of the summer was annoying as a lot of my players started complaining about joining big clubs. Unfortunately had to make some moves in the 2nd summer.

    SUMMER 20

IN: CM Fabinho Feijao for 25 -> 31(SPO in Brazil), LW/RW Mbappe for 40 with the agreement from loan, CM/DM Rolando Mandragora for 8mil from Juventus, and just got Andrea Belotti for 22-> 29 from Torino.

OUT: Aubemeyang to Monaco for 26 -> 32.5. Schurrle to Leverkusen for 12.5, a youngster to Besiktas for 8.75, and unfortunately Ousmane Dembele to Bayern after they met his 93mil release clause

"The complete forward's wayward shooting was not only frustrating for his team's supporters but very tiresome for me because I had to endure this torrid display of finishing."

That's a new and hilarious description.

World Cup got me back into it. Now in season 2023/24 with Southport. Just finished an insane season where I won the Premiership, Champ's League, FA Cup, Club World Champ, and EFL Cup all in one season. Just fended off PSG for Pulisic, they hit his $121 mill release clause but luckily he agreed to a new deal and now makes $19 mill per year. I have some good young guys but the weird home grown rules (thanks Brexit) make it tough to let them develop elsewhere since they count against the cap otherwise.
Now after that season the club refuses to give me a raise and I'm in my last year of the deal I have. They made a $400 mill profit, ranked the #2 rich club in the world and they won't give me an extra mill. This stuff drives me nuts in the game. I would be able to name my price in the real world.

For the USA we won the WC. Beat Nigeria 1-0 in quarters, Portugal 2-0 in semis and Germany 2-1 in the finals. All 5 of those goals came from my Southport guys.
Currently competing in Copa America. Lost to Brazil in the opener but won the other 2 to advance and draw Chile. Don't expect to get past Brazil next round.

Overall I'm thinking of leaving after this season and going to some small Italian of French side and trying it again.

Got Pulisic. Found a striker playing for Dayton Lions or something in some non-playable league that was listed as high potential. Loaned him to Bradford City then Derby and he put in 29 goals in those 2 seasons in the championship. Plan to make him a backup on the team this season.
Got another guy out of Arsenal's youth camp who is now world class striker. He had 20 goals and 9 assists during the last league season.

So mostly luck. The US system is broken in this game big time. They get maybe 1 high potential player every 2-3 years. I'm planning to leave soon for another national team with more skill.

Yeah I really want to get back into a save and had my English lower leagues I was working on but the save seems to be corrupted.

Think I'm going to start a new save, I just don't know what club and nation I want to do for club. Gonna take over the US for sure and phase out the older players for youth.

I always start with the suggested squad then make changes. Even in 2023 the computer suggests Bradley and I removed him from the pool years ago.
