I'm just wondering why the guy who directed a movie like moon would also direct a shitty movie based on a video game is all. Moon was his debut feature and two movies later he does warcraft? kind of takes the wind out of his sails
I know these aren't Netflix originals, but no one has posted in the Official Netflix thread other than me in years. I think all of these look good.... Reccos from anyone whose seen them?
Also, Magnus on Netflix was oddly, for me, one of the most entertaining documentaries I've ever seen. Plays out like a movie.
I watched Gerald's Game this past weekend. Adapted from Stephen King's novel. Ummm. It was very Stephen King-ish. Kinda interesting. Very weird. And included a scene that made me look away and shout bad things loudly.
I Don't Feel at Home in this World Anymore was really enjoyable. Laughed my ass off a couple times at some of the Elijah Wood lines. It's also actually kind of suspenseful at times. Would recommend.
Finishing up black sails on a free trial and then watching it. Will probably be later next week. Glad to hear you liked it.
Watching this, and it's ok. If National Lampoon interests you, you'll love it. I'm not that interested in the subject. Do love the Andy Bernard cameo though.
If this is the new general Netflix thread, I recommend godless. I'm about halfway in and really like it. Maybe altered carbon will be next for me.
Just finished binging on Altered Carbon season 1 yesterday. I dug it. The sci-fi aspects of the stack and its effects on future class systems were probably my favorite part, aside from: Spoiler: Ep. 8 or 9 I think How insanely hot his sister is. It took me a while to realize where I knew her from, btw. She's Daisy's mom from Agents of Shield (who was in charge of Attilan).
I think I like the idea of this show more than I like the show itself. I enjoyed the world building and mythology but the dialogue and acting is really bad in places. Its cool to look at but that was about it for me. Spoiler Most of my complaints are due to episodes 8-10. The sister's basic plan to win the affections of her brother is to kill everyone he loves. What the hell? That shit makes no sense.
I thought When We First Met was a little silly, but enjoyable. My wife and I finished Ozark the other week and we loved it. I finally finished season 2 of Stranger Things last night and liked it. Going to check out A Futile and Stupid Gesture soon.
If anyone has a uhd capable setup and likes nature docs, national parks adventures is some great eye candy. Good ear candy too.
I thought the cop was distractingly terrible and other than the last couple episodes and the daughter stuck in AI, she was the worst part of the show.
I liked the universe that they created with that show but it left a lot to be desired. So many possibilities and it was not a very good show. Will watch season two and hope that the writing gets better
Watched Mute yesterday, it's ummm a thing. long and slow. Not a big fan but the visuals throughout were cool.
I enjoyed the show just thought it lost its way at the end. But yes I hope they do an anthology type show within the universe rather than a follow up. I had read that the Kovatch actor said he’s definitely not back. But who knows.
Honestly I liked it as a whole, second act fell a bit and the end was super brutal and then kind of got cheesy. I still say watch it. It's a good and new movie. The world building is really cool. I just thought I would enjoy it more than I did.
Currently watching daredevil, good but I preferred the punisher. My favorite so far is dark. Solid serie all around, a bit complicated but very good Watched narcos, stranger things, walking dead, dark, altered carbon and black mirror Dark Stranger things Black mirror (can be so great but inconsistent due to its nature) Walking dead Narcos Punisher Altered carbon I actually enjoyed all of them so being in last place is not me telling everybody to not watch.
I'd have Dark below Stranger Things and Black Mirror, and probably season one of both TWD and Narcos as well. I liked Dark, but it was pretty convoluted and I never really cared much about any of the characters. Interesting mystery, but that's about as far as I'd go. Would definitely recommend it though. Ozark Black Mirror Stranger Things 2 Stranger Things 1 The Last Kingdom Narcos Viktings TWD Season 1 Dark Something like that is how I'd rank them.... Today at least.
I get it, I am just a sucker for these types of shows. It is too confusing and hard to follow but I loved it. Stranger things is incredible, I would recommend to people not like me before dark
It was complicated but i don't think it was stressful to grasp. It did a really good job of packing in a lot of different story aspects while still remembering to circle back around to them while also hitting you with haymaker surprises and leaving you ready for more. I was really worried it wasn't generating enough buzz but thank Tua it got picked up for season 2. The way the show runners tell this story they could honestly drive it all home in 2 seasons
