Seems the old one is gone. I guess this is where dblplay1212, Yanks711 and I talk to each other. Prospects 22. Clint Frazier, OF 24. Gleyber Torres, SS 25. Jorge Mateo, SS 30. Aaron Judge, OF 37. Gary Sanchez, C 61. Blake Rutherford, OF 92. Justus Sheffield, P
2018 winter is when the yankees become world series contenders again. Your gonna give $1 billion in contracts to Harper, Machado and Fernandez and its gonna be 09 again
It's a weird feeling. Tomorrow hasn't looked better than today in a long time. Hopefully some of these prospects pan out.
Would love to see Judge come up now. C - Sanchez 1B - Bird 2B - Castro SS - Gregorious 3B - Headley LF - Gardner CF - Ellsbury RF - Judge DH - McCann OF/DH is a bit old but if we can offload McCann and/or Gardner in the offseason this team is incredibly young. Shame Ellsbury has no value.
Idk on Judge. Part of me wants to see what we have but part of me wants to leave him down now and leave him down for a month next season to get another year of control. Same thing the Cubs did with Bryant. It's shitty for the player but that's life. Interested to see how the IF works out. Torres and Mateo are both coming. Gotta think somebody makes a position change, maybe to 3b. I'm all in on rolling with young guys for 17 and 18 to see what we have and then hit FA hard that year to fill holes with elite talent. That's such a long time to wait but that's what would be best. Just gotta have patience, something the Yankees haven't ever really had.
I'd be fine with that. We're going to be bad, might as well maximize it. Castro to 3B, Didi at 2B, young SS. Whatever combo you want there. I think it's a given Torres or Mateo is getting flipped for a young starter.
I've seen some stuff projecting Mateo at 2B. Also seen some articles saying Torres could man the hot corner as well.
Man, idk. Not too many glaring weaknesses. Wish they'd give more serious thought to starting Andujar at third this year. Kid has SO much potential.
I've seen some say Drury at 2b and Andujar at 3b to start the season. When Torres comes up, then it's Drury or Andujar at 3b. I love To as much as the next guy but I'd prefer to go to Drury/Andujar than Drury/To.
MLBtraderumors talks about them trying to acquire another starter, mostly due to workload concerns with some of our starters. Cobb and Lynn were mentioned - not sure how I feel about those.
I'd rather sign Holland, use the pen every day to limit guys to 5-6 innings. I'm also really high on Chance Adams. The numbers he's put up are video game numbers. I'm baffled why he's not a top 10 prospect. He doesn't throw 100 but he's gotten guys out at a very high clip at every level. 2.33 ERA with 9 K/9 across all levels of the farm. I want to see him get a shot now.
I mean I know scouts get paid to predict how someone will play at the next level but good lord his #'s are silly. W/L is a bad stat but lol at a 31-7 record. .99 WHIP. 2.33 ERA. 3/1 K/BB. He's dominated across the board. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=adams-008cha
Who knows? I thought he would late last year but they said he wasn't ready then. idk what else he can do at this point.
This is why I don't want them to sign another SP. It's a want, not a need. Sometimes, it's as if they play mind games with their young pitchers.
Let's see what we have open on the 25. This is my best guess to locks... C: Sanchez, Romine 1B: Bird 2B: To 3B: Drury SS: Didi OF: Judge, Stanton, Hicks, Gardner, Ellsbury SP: Tanaka, Sevy, Gray, CC, Monty RP: Betances, Chapman, Green, Kahnle, Robertson, Shreve, Warren 11 position players and 12 pitchers. Do we carry someone like Cessa as a long man? Do we carry Andujar or Austin? Both? I don't see a way Frazier makes the club. Sucks for him but Ellsbury isn't getting cut.
Not that I know of. Defense has been what's holding him back. His bat is ready but his glove is suspect.
Unfortunately think you have to carry a guy like Austin unless you think you can play Romine at 1st some, Bird hasn't shown the ability to stay healthy every day.
If Bird gets hurt, you call up Austin the next day. I just don't think we need a true backup 1b. Drury/Romine can play there once every 10 days and we're good... until Bird gets hurt and then you bring Austin up the next day.
The Yanks could always bring Moustakas in on a one year deal. Win-win for the Yanks and him. He comes to NY, and rakes for a year setting himself up for free agency next year. NY fills its hole at 3B and doesnt have to rush Andujar up.
I'd really like to play Andujar. Hopefully he excels and maximizes his trade value for after we sign Machado.
There's only a 3 year age gap between Andujar and Machado and we are still talking one guy taking a massive leap. Machado or bust.
I'd rather keep the guy we've got, if he turns out to be good rather than spend $40 million on a mercenary.
He can be better than we even hope and still not be in Machado's tier. We have a lot of money next year and need to take advantage of these years when Judge, Sanchez, and Sevy are still cheap.
I get that, but he's a fantastic player. Don't let personal bias cloud your view. Unless Andujar has a Judge type season, we're going hard after Machado.
Just don't feel we need him to win. Falls into the, want not need category. But I certainly won't complain if he comes over and has a great finish to his career, provided we don't give him an ARod type deal.
He'll be 26, not 31, which was Arod's age when he got his extension with us. Huge difference. Machado is going to get 10+ years but it's not as scary bc of his age. I'm ok with signing him through 37 or 38, but 40+ is a no go. Too many dead years at the end. Give Machado 10 years and $300m and let's go. That lineup would be stupid.
It would be nice if Machado were a left-handed batter for lineup balance purposes like Harper, but I agree, he is who the Yanks should chase. Harper's bat is the better fit but Machado's position is way more important to the roster. He is not like-able at all but the pure hate of Red Sox fans for him makes him much more palatable.
