Did you play the remakes that came out they were really good, but sadly the actual tomb raiding were reduced to small fairly simple puzzles.
The dumbing down of the puzzles is the thing I hate the most. Visually they all improved but the gameplay blew.
He’s the hot take queen. Borderlands 2 is easily a top 10 game for me. Great shooting, looting, co-op fun with deeper rpg elements than you’d expect wrapped up in a funny and challenging (raid bosses anyway) package.
What about the most underrated things? I can't really think of anything? Maybe MOBAs on console, because Gigantic flopped but was awesome. SMITE is great, and not nearly as popular as it should be.
Games that show breakable pieces on the enemies you fight such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Monster Hunter World, Dragon's Dogma , the Souls series and the Fallout series so you get a feeling your weapons have real power not just a health bar dropping. Games that make the world seem alive and give your enemies real personality in the case of monster Hunter world where the entire game has its own food chain and you can just sit back and watch as larger enemies fight smaller ones for territory and food.
FPS is consistently overlooked for the sake of graphics. Graphics don’t mean shit if it runs at 15-25 FPS. In my opinion it should run at 60fps minimum and then worry about graphics.
Yes, performance is often trumped by resolution. 720p game upscaled running at 60fps > 1080p native running at 30fps and dipping below.
Disagree. Knowing that we were going to buy an XB1X for the son for Christmas gave me the firepower to push for a new 4k tv. 4k is a very positive thing, overall.
Not for gaming. 1080p at 60 fps is a far better experience. But everyone wants 4k, so we end up with games and consoles being designed around 4k. Which is bad, because 4k/60 isnt practical. 30 fps has no place in gaming in 2018 but due to 4k its still everywhere. And even when we have the power to make 4k/60 practical that will still be the wrong approach because 1440p/144fps is just better For gaming, more frames >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> more pixels. End of story. There are no exceptions.
Pop a pill and simma down now. I trust you that 4k is the devil when it comes to gaming. A much larger % of my time in front of a television is spent watching tv or movies than playing vidya games, so 4k is 'A'-okay in my book.
Dont get me wrong, 4k is great for movies and tv (they use what, 24 fps?). It would be wild for a game to give us 1080/144 gameplay and 4k/30 cutscenes. Kinda hate consoles completely skipped 1440p
I don’t have one, but the one X apparently has a setting that prioritizes FPS over resolution. So that seems pretty neato
Don't speak to Odin about the joys of the XBox. He left the XB party a few years ago in a fit of rage.
GTA San Andreas The weird rpg elements of that game came across more “sims” Like than “rpg” like to me and were distracting. The fact I couldn’t shoot straight or drive (in a game with already clunky driving mechanics) straight until I leveled up the skills made me lose interest even though it had a solid story and cast of characters. CJ was overrated as a main protagonist as well. Very bland character. And don’t get me started on the David Cross rc car missions. Them shits was miserable
