Went to the same high school as Liberal darling Laura Moser And her runoff opponent And where Ted Cruz’s kids go to preschool And Wes Anderson Oh and Justice Winslow
Maybe i should've clarified by saying older sister! She was three years ahead of me and i got to witness all of her complaints during her years there regarding the workload, etc. Plus, and more importantly, about 15 friends (literally) defected over to Lamar between finishing 8th grade at St. John's and starting 9th at Lamar (and one more came over after our freshmen year). And then all 16 or so had a pic together in our yearbook senior year...
I just love how she completely ripped off Steve Jobs’ look. Reminds me of Erlich in the first season of Silicon Valley.
I’m honestly surprised she’s still alive, seems like the type of person who wouldn’t be able to handle it all once the house of cards collapsed.
read this book in about 5 hours last night. highly recommend nothing ever worked. Favorite part is Safeway spending like $300 million to renovate their supermarkets to house a bunch of these machines and not a single one making it into a store. i don't know how she can avoid prison time for this.
Theranos was trying to do good for humanity so i'm pretty sure they can't commit fraud cc: a bunch of people in the tesla thread
I didn't see it when it originally aired but the only info that seemed new to me was they said she'd already settled her case with the SEC whereas the other guy is fighting it
Not sure if it was mentioned, but there is a book called Bad Blood that is very in depth about Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes, and everything from the start to the end. Really crazy read. Recommend it.
The book was fantastic. It's from the guy who broke the wsj story. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a book
Documentary airs tonight on HBO https://www.hbo.com/documentaries/the-inventor-out-for-blood-in-silicon-valley
This story was covered on 20/20 this past Friday, and Gardner and the whistleblower (Tyler Schultz) were featured prominently, definitely worth checking out although i'm sure there will be plenty of overlap with the HBO documentary: https://abc.go.com/shows/2020/episode-guide/2019-03/15-the-dropout
Watching the HBO doc, read Careyrou’s book, it was fantastic, listened to The Dropout, and it also was very good.
20/20 did a whole ep on this Friday. it was basically just the video version of The Dropout. Watching the HBO one now, They must have been working on this since before the lawsuit. Having her interview, ect. Im only 20 min in though.
She didn’t interview for it, I’m pretty sure it’s from the advertising session she did with an extremely high end ad agency that did work for Theranos.
