I'll make sure to go personally meet every guy on tour before I dare criticize them on a message board
Best week of the year. Golf pants are rock hard and it’s monday. Watching Sergio put that fuckin jacket back on Tiger will be awesome to watch.
Is anyone headed to the master this year and if so would potentially consider picking something up for me?
fun fact THAT PERFECT GRASS? IT WAS DEVELOPED AT RUTGERS The tee boxes. The fairways. The rough. All that beautiful, dark green, dense turf was developed at Rutgers, which has provided the finest perennial ryegrass to Augusta National since the 1970s. The seeds are developed on a 30-acre farm located off Ryders Lane and at the university's 200-acre Adelphia farm in Freehold. http://www.nj.com/sports/index.ssf/2018/04/masters_2018_10_strange_new_jersey_connections_to.html

Last year with my tax returns I decided to get back into golf and bought a new set of irons...and then later a bunch of other stuff. Decided I’m going to do something again this year.(also interestingly enough it coincides with my anniversary as a nurse). Get my titleist 913 d2 fitted for a high end shaft? (I built it and used the red pro launch shaft). Get fitted for a new driver? Get fitted for a new fairway wood(I have an old R7 still, with a random steel shaft) New 56 degree wedge(itd be a black sm6 to match the others) Get an all red/Black Odyssey number 7 Something else(don’t say lessons, that’s a given).
So I am thinking of hitting up club champion when I am in Nashville next month or Austin in August. I just bought some ping i200 fitted at a demo day but am wondering if it would be worth it to go ahead and get a whole bag fitting as I am sure those would be more exact. I am planning right now to do driver and wedges. Also I have read that their club prices can be pretty steep. Any feedback on what I could expect to pay for a driver and three wedges? Irons?
Per the advice of this thread, I took a lesson earlier his week in preparation for getting fitted for clubs. Holy Shit. It was my first lesson since I was in the 4th grade (and getting back into the game 4 years ago). Guy corrected my slice in about 10 min and I’ve hit more draws the past three days than the last 3 years combined. Really simple corrections that I never could have properly implemented myself. If you are a high handicapper and on the fence re: lessons, just fucking do it. Worth every penny and I’m kicking myself for not doing it three years ago.
I don't necessarily agree with this. The fitter I went to charges $100 for the fitting unless you buy from him then it's no charge and this is probably about industry standard. It's not like you can tell them "I don't want to pay the fee yet, let me see if I can find a good deal on a used club first." You have to know whether or not you're wanting to buy brand new before even going through the fitting
I’ve actually had the exact opposite. Guess it depends on the fitter, but when I got fitted he told me the “discount” was good for 20 days or some number like that. I paid the fitting fee right there, and he said if I decided to buy through them they would take it off the final price. Went and found the exact specs of what I was fitted for for half the price online.
I'd imagine their prices are consistent with everyone else. You could tell them you are interested in the "stock" shafts unless the fitting drastically leads you in another direction. With Taylor Made there are 6-7 different shafts that are free upgrades, same for Callaway. When you get exotic is when it can get through the roof. Driver-499, wedges 140-150 each. Irons change a lot depending on the club, low end is 100/club, high end like forged Titleist can be 160/club. Average is around 112-125 a club.
I don’t see how. I’ve routinely spent more than 50% less at either of those places than I would have buying straight from where I got fitted. You can get the specific clubs you’re looking for with minimum to no use and an insane discount. I honestly think it’s dumb to buy from anywhere but if you know what you’re doing.
Gonna be windy and ~40* for the 1st round of our 2 man scramble tomorrow. Have Jimmy Walker & JT as our pro “teammates”
Man I cannot wait to watch moving day tomorrow. Just look at those groups. Each and every one of them are interesting and I can see any of them making a move.
That's really cool of your fitter and I doubt that's the norm. I'm assuming you went to a local place instead of a bigger chain because I can't imagine a chain place would offer that
In my opinion a good fitter will always charge for a fitting whether you buy the clubs or not. Their knowledge/time has value. When you do free fittings you will emphasize steering the fitting towards what is in stock or what has higher margins. After the fitting that you pay for you should be given all information to do with what you please.
My club champion fitter not only was cool with it, he built all my clubs for me that I bought off eBay. They were charging me 100 bucks a shaft on my irons, I bought an entire set for 120 bucks. My whole bag ended up being like 1/3 of the cost and I got exactly what my spec sheet said.
Would also like to know this, thinking of going to one mainly because I don’t want to drive to lincoln for @1 ‘s suggestion
If you don't mind getting fit based on your results hitting inside on a launch monitor then it would be fine.
So I was fitted for a new driver back in November. Ended up getting the ping g400. Was at the range last weekend and noticed one of the non adjustable tungsten weights on the sole was missing. I had no idea how long it had been gone so I called up the fitter and told him about it. They told me ping was having an issue with these weights coming off and to bring it in and they would replace the head at no charge. So now I pretty much have a new driver again. /lifehack
So my brother just set up a skytrak simulator in his basement. It's incredible and I think I'm going to do the same as soon as I clean out my barn. Anyone here have one?
Demoed that driver a few months ago and loved it. Love the irons too. Considering switching from my ap2s.
I’ve gone with it in the past and it hasn’t steered me wrong. Have you ever done a lesson at golftec?
