No. I'm not a fan of basing everything off of a simulator and hitting indoors. I'm 6'6" tho so most indoor simulator setups aren't built for me. I play frequently with a 0 hcp that has gone there for years. Different strokes for different folks.
You work at UNMC right? There's a newish apt building really close to there that's right on 480 that has what looks to be a pretty sweet indoor simulator setup for their residents to use.
My father in law is putting one in his new barn in the next few months, will report back when I've tried it. Looks like you can get a good looking set up for about 6k
I'm shooting for half that. Skytrac has a sale going right now. Can get the monitor, net return, and mat for $2500 through April 10th. I've heard their course software sucks and it's better to go jack nicklaus perfect golf membership which is $250 per year. Debating whether to use a tv or buy a projector and use a sheet initially. I can improve the set up over time, but hope to be up and running for $3k.
Yeah my FIL is doing the screen and projector. The WGT software looks okay and you get some great courses. I know the The Golf Club software is the most expansive in terms of courses.
I’ve wanted to do this for a while. I’ve priced it out and I think you can do a pretty solid setup for in the $3,000 range.
My club just started renting a trackman a couple days a week. I’m signed up for an hour session next week to check my lofts and lies, yardages etc. I’m considering changing shafts to get something less draw biased in there.
Nippon NS 1050s. I want to try out the Modus 105s. I started playing some srixon 765s and I guess since they’re a little toe weighted I immediately started hitting a draw (which hasn’t been all bad). Sometimes I feel like I have to work a little hard to rotate my hips to keep from coming in on top of the slot. I’m out at Lost Creek in Austin.
765's shouldn't necessarily force a draw that much. Clubs could be a little upright or the shaft could be a little too light. Something on the stiffer-heavier end may be worth a look like the S-300 or the Project X 6.0. Whoever you work on trackman with will know what is going on.
Yea I was fitted into ap1s with those shafts originally. I haven’t looked at the specs but I wonder if there’s just a bit of a weight difference. What are your thoughts on the modus 105 versus the 1050s?
The modus should have a little stiffer tip, launch a touch lower and spin a bit less. Might be a little better for you but I don't know that there is a drastic enough difference for the price. If you have the opportunity to test side by side you may find bigger differences. When you hit on trackman you will learn a lot from the launch angle and spin #'s on the irons to see if you need to go another route on the shafts. Roughly want to spin close to the club you are hitting( under 7k for a 7 iron), and you want to launch at about 50% of the clubs loft.
And chipping. You’re right. But I also can’t really practice when I don’t even know what I’m supposed to be doing. I am just mimicking good players I see and it’s not working so there’s not much point in practicing something that’s probably totally wrong. I was actually at a party tonight with a pro that I think is gonna help me out. But seriously, I’m like a 10 year old on and around the greens.
Man, I just saw a tweet that mentioned him and I can't even remember the last time I saw him play. That wrist imjury must be a bitch for Brooks Koepka.
We stayed in Edinburgh and took a train to St Andrews. I think it was about an hour ride and wasn't bad.
He said he was close, but is committing to not trying to play early. Think he said he's at 80% or something. Wrists are not to be fucked with in golf I guess.
My roommate is going to Smylie's wedding this weekend, where JT, Jordan, and Rickie are all groomsmen. Hope he brings back some great stories.
like the time dustin johnson fucked smylie kaufman's fiancee and injured himself...and made up a story about falling down the stairs when he missed the masters.
You pass by the Lockerbie crash site on your left (if I recall correctly) on the train from Edinburgh to St. Andrews.
Good time. Stayed in Edinburgh also and took the train over. I went for the final round so I didn't get to see much other than the course.
I did not go for the Open but I took a day trip to St Andrews from Edinburgh and would echo how easy it was
I know some guys who went to his alma matter. Apparently it is quite the norm for him to be at frat parties having a great time.
Saving him for a major. Can only use each golfer once. Still have him, JT, and Jason Day left. Might go Kuch for TPC. He plays sawgrass well, right?
