Nike Free 5.0's gave me PF in the first place. I've settled on Merrell's road shoe and been running in them since 2011
Going on two months of drinking a half gallon+ of milk kefir/day. Usually wait until I have a handful of gallons in the fridge, blend up a bunch of mangos, some honey, dash of maple & vanilla. Let that hang out for another week or so while it ferments a bit more and becomes more effervescent. I work on a dairy farm and never thought I'd be able to consume this much milk, but it seems good so far.. the fermentation apparently produces b12 & k2 which vegetarians/vegans tend to be lacking Throw in eggs, sweet potatoes, greens, butter, avocado toast on homemade sourdough and that's probably 90% of my calories atm. Food bill should be pretty tiny once the gardens get rolling.
You’re not alone. Although I’m not sure I can blame the shoe, exclusively. I ran 15K with no experience running more than a 5K and paid for it dearly. It comes and goes ever since and it’s been about 5 years. This past week was the first time in about 6 months that I’ve felt it creeping back. What’s helped me is the flat rigidity of the Nike Metcons in the gym, rolling calves before working out, stretching, and rolling my feet on a lacrosse ball a few times a day. When it gets really bad, I have foot splints for sleeping which fucking suck because you will never think your blanket is heavier than when you’re basically standing up horizontally in bed.
Not a huge fan of Nike running shoes, I also picked up an injury while running in them. Stick with Asics/Brooks now.
Nike's are shit for me too. Went Nike to Brooks to Altra a few years ago and haven't looked back. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer as a whole, but switching made a huge difference for me as well.
I've always thought it was because my feet are wide but almost all Nikes fuck me up. Have a couple of pairs that don't
Same, agreed. The width of Altra's are why I continue to buy them. They are the ugliest fucking shoes on earth though. All of them.
Do we have an approved fitbit in here? I am leaning toward a charge 2. I've heard the ones that try to be apple watches aren't very good.
I have a Charge 2 and like it a lot. Got it as a gift last Christmas and wasn't all that excited about it but it's been my everyday wear ever since.
I've been killin it...until today when I discovered Wendy's Double Stacks were on sale for $1. I mean I was trying to be financially responsible.
Me? I know. It’s more about the fact that my body feels like garbage right now, and I’ve shat more today than I do in 2-3 days normally. :/
Got back to logging my food in MFP. Shit is annoying but really puts things in perspective. We had a catered lunch at work today and I let myself go a little bit. Went and logged it: 1300 calories. Whoops.
I think my concern would be goitrogens if you're blending a lot of them, reading about them a while back is why I cut back on microgreens/sprouts. Steaming or otherwise cooking cruciferous vegetables reduces goitrigens iirc and don't quote me on this but I think makes the nutrients that are still around after cooking more easily absorbed. I pretty much stick to blending spinach when I am using greens. Picking kale already. Have been making kale chips .. s+p, avocado oil, and minced ginger. So good Edit - i just remembered i was juicing spinach & oranges for a solid month last year when oranges were in season. Going to get on that again this year, I remember not being able to notice any taste from the spinach. Lifehack
So nothing you've read suggests that any nutritional value is lost simply by blending (not juicing)? I certainly can't think of a reason it would be, as the blender is essentially just taking the place of chewing...
I can’t give you specifics but Rhonda Patrick mentioned that certain nutrients are more available when heated and some when not heated, so I just try to have a good mixture.
Blending you should be fine and still get the nutritional value out of things. Boiling or heating breaks down chemical bonds within the foods themselves, lending to a variable loss of some nutritional value. Mechanical shearing from a blender won't break those bonds, if that helps.
Unless you're not drinking it quickly enough before the drink starts to oxidize I think you might get more out of blending vs eating raw Blending cabbage knocked out a bacteria(?) that causes a common stomach ulcer that I'm blanking on. Felt like I had been stabbed and had to self-diagonose being broke and without insurance. Bought a blendtec instead of going to the doctor and knocked it out in like a day. Goitrigens I don't think are a huge concern unless you're already deficient in iodine, but just putting it out there. I put a pinch of dried kelp in a typical morning breakfast for me of rice, natto, eggs, but ionized salt works too
I ride or die with my Vitamix... Along with my $50 frying pan for eggwhite omelettes, it's the only thing in my kitchen I use daily.
Anyone done any meal prepping for days/week at a time. I need as many tips as possible. Starting Renaissance Diet need to get my prep on.
What are you making in bulk? I’d imagine veges and protein. For meat, can’t go wrong with sous vide, especially for bulk cooking. For veges, we cut up what we need for the week and have them in Pyrex containers, for four. Roast in the oven for 10 minutes with some avacado oil or EVOO and done. I’d even say you could do that for the week, easily. Just mess with the temp for the density of your vegetables.
Smoke meat. Eat some meat. Vac seal remainder of meat. Freeze meat. Pull bag of meat out and use it in whatever recipe/meal you have going. fin
sous vide huh. Regret not buying that during Christmas. Why do you recommend that? Time? There's a cook book that goes with the diet that breaks down general calories and macros. So yeah im going to be stuffing lean meat sweet potatoes and greens down my gullet. For 12 weeks
My schedule is completely backwards than most. I work primarily at night in the city. I lift when i get up. Then go to work. But occasionally I do a day shift. So i have to cook and keep meals ready with me in a cooler. Last summer i kept breaking my diet for fucking taco trucks at 4am
Yes, time, effort and perfection of the cook. Other than smoking meat it’s the only way we prepare it anymore, outside of ground beef. I love smoking too but it’s more time consuming, IMO. For your chicken and pork, no more than a two hour cook and turns out perfect every time. You could easily do 10-15 pounds of meat in there at one time. You’d definitely need a rack for spacing to allow heat to evenly distribute. For beef really depends of the cut and size of the roast. Anywhere for 2-6 hours for a 3-5 pound cut, then obviously could go up to 12 hours on a larger piece of meat. Doesn’t take much time to figure it out, IMO. Potatoes are probably your biggest challenge. Bake those potatoes, cool them thoroughly, then dice them up for quickest heating and consumption during the week.
Are you homeless? Do you not have a fridge or freezer that food chills in before going into said cooler. Smoked meat can go in a cooler just like any other prepped and cooked protein. Plus, you said you are meal prepping. I am so confused. Plus, smoked meat makes some of the best tacos so you would have that going for you.
try this stuff out if you’re looking to cut out calories on dressing 20 calories for 2 tablespoons (not teaspons), and tastes pretty good topped my sous vide chicken breast and tomato wrap with it for lunch and I’m a big fan
Because I don't have time to be defrosting shit. I need food constantly with me. Last summer I literally worked a shift. Went home for a few hours to sleep woke up and did a day shift. So yeah I need food in a cooler. Besides the diet has an emphasis on nutrient timing so I don't want to half ass it.
I can see that you don't like the smoked meat idea but this is a little life hack I will pass on that might help you later in life or in a different situation. Take frozen meat which can be smoked or unsmoked or even raw, put in fridge, wait 3 days. Meat is mysteriously not frozen anymore due to the magical ways of the multiverse. Active (by you) defrosting time, like 2 seconds. You are welcome!
Cook every Sunday, Tupperware the entire week’s meals, feed yourself through Thursday (Friday always seems to get dicey, scraping the bottom of the barrel.) Lots of sweet potatoes and some brown rice, two green veg options (green beans and asparagus lately), couple cod or salmon filets, couple chicken or turkey cuts (depending on what’s on sale.) Add in spring mix salads if you need more veg. With that you’ve got two options for protein, carb, and veggies... never gets old. ezpz lemon squeezy
Ok retard. You were talking about smoking then freezer locking it. I'm not interested in that idea. But enjoy being an obnoxious cunt.
Yeah I was thinking making a week's worth and or trying to get the old lady to mix in mid week to keep things from being repetitive
This is almost exactly what I do. Veggie + blueberries for smoothies Mon-Fri, then quinoa/brown rice/grain+ veggies + different sauce for the week, rarely add meat but load up on veggies. Saves so much $$ and healthy AF I strictly only do it until Thurs and eat out Fri-Sunday to splurge and keep my sanity.
For those who love pancakes but are avoiding unnecessary wheat flour products like the plague, Birch Benders Paleo pancakes are fucking delicious. I was skeptical hippo but they blew me away. Usually pancakes will destroy my stomach but I can put a lot of these away without any issues.
