It was good. The family all had very nice sweaters. Don't know that I could be going barefoot in the winter though. I'd just deal with sandy ass socks or get murdered by the monsters.
Great movie. Two quick questions. Spoilers Did she not realize the ear piece was getting rid of the creature till they were in the basement? Or was it when they were in the corn And also, when Jim dies, prior to that. What did the creature hear? I just remember him hugging his kids then they came out
Basement. I'm pretty sure she didn't even realize a creature was there in the corn when she was looking for her brother
After he got up from getting tossed by that thing, he grabbed the axe and threw it down next to him which made some type of noise
Spoiler Weren't they pinned under the door with the monster on top of them when they were in the silo? I thought she noticed there was some correlation between them not getting eaten and her ear ringing. Then in the basement she put two and two together. That scene in the cornfield was so tense though
Spoiler I had forgotten about that scene but I think you're right. She kind of realized something was going on with it in the silo scene then when she saw her dads work station it clicked.
I enjoyed it. My parents didn’t. This has been an oddly recurring theme of late, as they also hated A Ghost Story, which I found fascinating. I did find subsequent theories pertaining to Spoiler pro life vs pro choice interesting. I think it was WaPo that had a review along those lines. It’s nothing too groundbreaking; just food for thought type shit. Obviously there’s a lot of suspension of disbelief that has to go on to get into it. There are certainly a lot of plot flaws, but nothing too egregious; especially for the genre. Hopefully Krasinski has some more shit in the future. On a side note: pretty sure an employee took advantage of his break to come in and wreak havoc with his bag of popcorn for 15 minutes in the middle of the movie. Sucks that I was more worried about the possibility of shooting up the theater than I was appreciative of him toying with senses.
I enjoyed it, but I left the theater angry because I have about 2047 gripes with the movie. First and foremost being: what happens to farts? You're telling me Jim Halpert hasn't let one rip in over two years? Spoiler.... Spoiler also if you are going to be delivering a fucking baby, why would you NOT be doing it next to the magical waterfall? As a matter of fact, why would you not be building a home next to the magical waterfall?
I like to nitpick stuff but you fellas are being silly billies. Great flick. I always knew Jordan Peele and Jim from the Office would be two of the leading figures in the horror genre one day.
Explain the fart situation to me, please. You're telling me an entire family held their farts for two years?!?! FAKE.
The Kims (the dictators, not the celebrities) don’t have buttholes or something so this definitely checks out.
Saw it yesterday, liked it. Horror movies have to have an interesting angle or I can’t get into them. Agree with some of you there were some plot holes (I was also wondering what sound the monsters heard post-grain silo.) I also kind of rolled my eyes at some of the plot devices they had to use like the dad’s moronic whiteboard (“WEAKNESSES?”) and the newspaper clippings. Didn’t spoil the movie for me though. Surprisingly emotional in addition to suspenseful. Definitely see it in a theater if you want to see it at all. Would not have been the same experience at home. Felt like the whole theater was on a ride together. As a person who gets popcorn almost 100% of the time they go, I decided not to this time and that was a wise decision.
A little cliche/hackneyed/unrealistic but I actually liked that as a way to fill the viewer in on the details of the story. Within the first few minutes there's several shots like that that let you piece together the nature of this post apocalyptic horror situation
