Nostalgiaing so hardcore right now. There were 6 of us at this game (what I consider the north of Sporting and soccer city USA) and 4 of those fuckers wore their Man U jeryes. I’d say 70-80% of the stadium was rooting for Man U. I remember the bullshit red for Jim in a friendly. Puma standing on his fucking head. Killer Kei with the go ahead like 2 mins after the PK. Baby Bes getting a standing O as he was introduced as a former Blue Valley whatever. And then the crowd that was mostly Man U fans changing allegiances and cheering for the Wiz to hold out for the W. Also, afterwards we were hardcore drunk in the lots and there was a group of kids, probably 10ish in a circle passing a ball to each other. I joined up to play with them and after anout 2 mins, I don’t know why but I just booted the fuck outta that ball. Like into another lot booted it. Still no clue why I did it but I had tears in my eyes watching that thing sail Over the cars.
The most emotional I’ve been over any sporting event in my adult life. I knew Jimmy had the broken ribs beforehand and that they were tryin to keep it under wraps and it was so painful trying to watch him move. Then we went down. Then Frenchie should of been sent off. Then he equalized. Then Rimando seemed to make like 5 incredible saves. Then PKs. No one gave us a shot. Said Rimando>>>>>La Puma Blanca in PKs, no way we’d win. Legit had tears in my eyes because I knew he would miss. When they ended practice they would split the squad and do a PK shoot out. Every time. French would miss his a good 70-80% of the time according to Julio. Then he fucking nails the most picture perfect PK into the side net and the RSL fuck sails his. I was pouring tears knowing what Jimmy had done with the pain he was in and knowing he would retire and also with the performance Collin put in. I texted Collin because I was living in Portland at the time and he didn’t respond until 2:30 AM Portland town saying they were just getting ready to go out and celebrate. No clue what they did up until 4:30 AM but I’m still pissed I missed it.

Just posted this in the USL thread . Our Swope Park Rangers just keep getting shat on. Spoiler So Sporting was told the Swope Park Rangers have to play at Sporting Park or play all their games on the road. The USSF created new standards for stadiums to give USL the “Div 2” status. So before the season they told SPR they needed to add more seats and bathrooms to their park. So they made a game plan on adding some bleachers and PortAPodys to meet the standards. It was all good until a month before the season started and USL told them get a new stadium or you’re kicked out. So they moved to a HS stadium that met therequirements and all was good. USL approves everything about the stadium. So they play the Flounders 2.0 squad. Then they get a letter from USL saying they’re not allowed to play at the HS anymore and they’ll playroad games all year. The 2 rumors floating around are that Seattle complained about the field andDrogba complained about having to play and use a HS locker room (the game after Seattle was vs Phoenix and got moved from KC to Phoenix). So now all games are at Sporting Park. Why this is peeving everyone off? 1) SPR has been to back to backleague finals. They have a lot of talent. 2) USL tried moving one of SPR’shome playoff games last year to Sacramento because they drew more fans last year even though SPR earned the home match. 3) Why did USL approve the stadium before the season started but now it’s unacceptable? 4) A lot of people go to SPR games because they’re played on the Missouri side of the city close to the main population centers. Sporting Park is about 15-20 ish minutes from downtown and 45ish minutes from the Eastern suburbs of the city. 5) Future USMNT players like Lindsey and Busio should be given a chance to get minutes for a professional team that is actually treated like one.

Hate the way this New England team plays. Reminds me of our teams back in 2010-11ish.
