At some point, he said "we'll see a lot of you in about 14 months." Guarantee it's their farewell tour. If I'm walking the earth by that time, i'll fucking be there. Will probably cry my ass off during the whole show

Yeah, true. I'll probably make it to any show within reasonable distance for a farewell tour.

Missed ND/Georgia game to drive 4 hours round trip to San Bernandino to watch their opening set of the tour.

Absolutely amazing experience, especially having no clue what to expect from the setlist. So damn good. I lost my shit at Spin Light and Soco to close and all the new songs were amazing. Album was out two damn weeks and everyone knew the whole thing. Have seen them 3 times, and hopefully will make it more, but if that's it, farewell.

I contend that there are no more loyal fans currently out there than Brand New fans. They mean so much to so many people around our age.

I was in the car a lot today and listened to tons of D4.

related - I want to start a blog with photos of aging punk rock bands

what are some good "post-punk" artists or albums?

particularly in this style, if you feel like listening, which the internet tells me is post-punk.

if it is merely pop music masquerading as something else, feel free to talk some shit. that's basically what happens to new people in the metal thread :cryingjordan:

despite their stupid name, i think that Beastmilk album is incredible fwiw (at least as a punk outsider)

one poster in the metal thread said that the sound is "the cure, but more sludgy" as an insult, so your mileage may vary

Been listening to some minutemen, a bunch of propaghandi and old flatliners albums. Also, listened to the operation ivy album and static age from the misfits, which still holds up really well.

ive decided ive been too harsh wrt inviting light

"hang my head" and "indoors" are jams imo, and there are a few other p solid songs too ("mammals", "human party trick", "burn out again")

its just not a flatliners album, but im getting over it. at least it wasnt like polar bear club who totally changed their sound and then immediately broke up :(

I usually just post in the heavy music thread but a lot of the stuff I like is a mix of both punk and metal, hardcore or whatever. Figured i’d put this here though.

I made a Punk playlist for anyone that needs one. It's mostly 90's and early 2000's melodic punk, with some newer and older stuff sprinkled in there.

Again, I'll recommend The Line's album, Auricle, for anyone that hasn't heard it. Probably a top five punk album for me, and so underappreciated.

I love NOFX and some other bands but I think you guys limit yourselves or just shun underground DIY punk. I mean what’s more punk than plugging in a 4 track recorder or what we did at first - an old school boombox with a recording option for cassette tapes. Seems pretty punk to me. There is a bunch of other stuff out there to check out.

There’s 28 pages in this thread, and nofx hasn’t been discussed all that much. I can fish out my maximum rock n’roll zines if you’d like, so we can discuss some real gutter punk that takes literally no talent to play.

I saw AAA and the Bouncing Souls in Jax back in the day and they put on a fun show. Always loved this song of theirs.

Also, most of us are big Propaghandi fans, there just isn't a ton of discussion here.

I saw them both too way back inthe day. May have been the same tour. AAA played all the old good stuff. The trumpet player was crowd surfing while still playing the trumpet during the last song. It was awesonme.

I’m not sure if anyone cares but the thread title said talk to us. This is my band from high school. As we got older we got way heavier. Thrash/grind/hardcore stuff. I still like to pull up these songs from time to time. They were the first ones we wrote together. I know they sound like shit. We were using an old 4 track recorder in our bass player’s mom’s garage.

Didn’t know where to put this, but here’s a short blip of a novelty mashup between Alkaline Trio and Pantera. This was done by Derek Grant, drummer of Alkaline Trio who I believe is doing some Dj’ing as well.

I was really hoping Saves the Day was going to do something for the 20th anniversary of Can’t Slow Down, but I don’t see it happening. Still one of my favorite albums of all time, and continues to amaze me that they were in high school when they recorded it.
