With Dallas growing and expanding almost exclusively to the north, the tollway and 75 are pretty much the most important thoroughfares in city. They are becoming exponentially worse by the day, and with the dfw population projected to double in the next 10 years, it's going to be a nightmare. I agree in that I don't see how they will be able to widen 75 (or the tollway for that matter) with the way it's constructed, other than maybe go with a double decker highway like that abortion Austin calls I-35
Btw, in 2011 when I was getting ready to move to dallas, I started a thread like this. The recommendations made by friarjuggs (does he still post here?) may be the worst content to ever make its way to the internet. When I get to my computer, I'll find some of those gems. Hopefully they weren't lost in any of the crashes
The only advice he gave that is even remotely accurate was trying to stay east of Midway, but now I think you're good going as far west as Marsh. The best advice I can give is don't live in any Dallas suburbs unless (i) you work there and don't want to commute, or (ii) you have kids and don't live in Highland Park or Lake Highlands, or can't afford private schools. Uptown, M-Streets, Lakewood, Highland Park, University Park, Preston Hollow, Lower Greenville, Deep Ellum, the Village, Greenway Parks, Knox-Henderson, Oaklawn, Bluffview, Lake Highlands, etc. are all great neighborhoods, depending on what you're looking for. All of them are north of downtown. Bishop Arts is the only neighborhood south of downtown I'd live in.
Bump Going to be in Ft Worth for 4 days starting next weekend. Don't think there's a Ft Worth thread so bumping this. Wife is going for work, and I'm going for a vacation, so I'll be free all day by myself until about 6pm. Any recs on things to do? Want to go to a steakhouse with her, recs? I'll have a car while I'm there so drivings not a problem. #Dallas Cowboys #Dallas Mavericks #Dallas Stars
Never spent time there, but you might want to google the stockyards. Also avoca is good for cunty coffee
You can get a 14 oz ribeye steak and some badass mac n cheese for about 50 at Reata. Or pick a cheaper main and splurge on all their tasty sides. https://www.reata.net/reata-fort-worth/menus/dinner/
Also if ur looking for some mexican food i llike this place. https://www.mexicaninncafe.com/menus.htm
I'll join you in bashing DFWon a lot of topics, but you can go straight to hell if you're going to come up in this thread and disparage DFW Tex-Mex.
Its generally quite sub par, and there really isnt a home run spot in either Dallas or FW proper that I can think of.
Sundance Square at night is decent. West 7th for nightlife and finish the night at Velvet Taco. Stockyards are okay... tourist trap basically Botanicu gardens are amazing. Zoo is really good and shits on Dallas Second the torchys and Joe t Garcia's rec Bearded lady for sandwiches and beer is a must. Martin House brewery is cool and there are others I can recommend later.
Where you staying, downtown? I live here so let me know what you’re looking for & I’ll throw some stuff out for ya
Yea, the Renaissance Hotel. Basically I’ll be free while my wife’s at a conference. We’ll meet up around 6 for dinner + drinks. Just looking for stuff to do during the day. We are going to a Rangers game on that Tues
Idk I feel like it gets treated the way it should. The food isnt dogshit or anything but you go for the atmosphere and the ritas. I love that place, I just don't really go for the food.
I lived about a 10 minute drive from Alvarados....That place is fucking delicious. Oh how I miss the Tortas and breakfast burritos.
Oh yeah for a nicer meal and a few drinks make sure to enjoy my most favorite spot in the city. The rooftop at Reata.
I don't think so but I did drive through Alvarado Tx a couple times while in FtW wondering where I could find Soup.
