i'm guessing our heroes are going to get a new ship soon since there's leftover protomolocule and they changed its name or maybe it turns into some super strong bio ship
One thing i remember from the books (or I think I remember) was that there was no need for nuclear war in the future because each planet could just push life-ending asteroids into the gravity of their enemy. Anyone else remember that or am I confused? It’s been years since I’ve read the books.
Yeah, the threat of "dropping rocks" seems more pronounced than planet busting nuclear warheads in the books. Though I think both options were on the table.
Such a great episode the other night. Yet SyFy has decided to cancel The Expanse, it'll be shopped around to other networks. Thanks for giving me a reason to never watch your shitty network again, I certainly wasn't tuning in for the fucking "Magicians".
Problem was that the deal Syfy agreed to air the show is incredibly stupid and made it near impossible for the show to be profitable. ALl they had was first-run linear rights, so the only way they could make money was via ads during live broadcasts. They apparently made nothing on it in streaming. Alcon Television Group, which fully finances the show, will be shopping it elsewhere.
Finally saw the episode from two nights ago. Next week’s should be crazy. I may have to try and watch it live.
I worry that any chance of a renewal from a streaming service is fucked because Amazon and Netflix share streaming rights now. Would Amazon pick up a new season if they can only stream it to US customers?
Does the first run deal with syfy going away mean that the show is actually done? I was hoping they would keep streaming it. I guess syfy $ was a big impact? I don’t really know how that stuff pans out % wise
I'll definitely be watching tonight's episode live. It's the end of "Caliban's War", it's gonna be insane. Also, i'm sure SyFy will be paying attention to any boost in ratings. After the last few days, there's sure to be a noticeable difference.
So how many more episodes are there, assuming that they end this season? Is there a chance they get through the rest of the books this season?
Hell no. It took them 3 seasons to get through 2 books, while bringing some plot lines from later books forward.
Plus they were no way planning on this being the last season. AND - there are still 2 more books to come out.
I just realized why I was so confused by this comment. I had no idea there were so many books. When did we read this book in the book club? Whenever that was, I read all of the books that were out at that point, so maybe only the first 3 (or 4 tops). I have some work to do.
There are 7 novels out. 2 more to come to finish the series. Plus several novellas that are great as well.
This might say more about the era of streaming, but I can't remember ever waiting week-to-week for new episodes of a show like this one since I was like 8 and watching Star Trek: Voyager.
Gonna have to watch last week's episode again before Wed., Amos stealing the show again. "I am that guy". Also at him being Mr. Mom with all the lost children on the Roci.
