Come on, he doesn’t belong in that group. Plenty of golfers have had the years Kim did at his best. 3 tour wins. Gimme a break man
I'd rather have him than Bubba. But maybe I overappreciate him beating the shit out of Sergio at the Ryder Cup
I had forgotten about that honestly. But I think Kim’s legend has grown exponentially since he dropped off the face of the earth. He was a solid up and comer that never reached his prime imo
No way. Kim's prime was very short lived but at his best (which is what that "game" is referring to) he was absolutely better than Jimmy Walker.
You guys can't seem to separate talent from wins. The best golfer of all time doesn't have the most majors. We are talking about talent.
It's measured by who is the more talented golfer. Wins don't work outright because many times wins are tied to how poor the field is rather than how an individual plays a golf course.
You keep making it seem like at his best he can hit a drive like Rory can when he's at his best. Kim wasn't super-elite at anything, just like Jimmy Walker. I believe youre trying to say: who has cooler looking shots on the range. And, again, Kim would be boring relative to most.
A lot of silly discussion here seeing as how Tiger provided Paige Spiranac with golf lessons. Could she be any more in his wheelhouse? Knowing she's out there will either be his kryptonite or propel him to multiple major championships.
Being consistent is the best quality you can have in golf. He did that for a year and it was impressive. Im still curious what else he did (driving, putting, etc.?) to make him so awesome and betetr than a ton of other golfers . Im guessing if he looked, dressed, and had a normal story like David Toms, we wouldnt be having this conversation
One of my closest friends bought Kim's house from him in Dallas, he still has his number. There's still a good amount of people that cant even track him down. I told him he needs to talk him into doing an interview but they didnt really keep up after the house transaction. He joked with him about golf lessons though and Kim joked back that its hard enough to get him to pick up a club let alone try to teach someone.
Yea I mean he's gotta be leery about discussing his insurance stuff but I'd imagine the right charity deal would be safe. I understand why he's never going to play on tour again but I don't understand why he keeps it so quiet. Makes me think theres more to the story. Im sure he was dealing with substance abuse, but I think playing on the tour is a lot harder for some people than others. Insane pressure on top of constant travel, that could wear anyone out. I don't think i could do it long term.
The original question is who would you want to play with in a scramble. Fuck anyone that says Jimmy Walker And if you’re comparing careers as your answer for Walker over AK your answer sucks.
Tweet didn't really specify the level of prize for winning said scramble so yes I would want to play with the game's biggest recluse provided he wouldn't just go mute the entire round
I think the point is you are matching skills to your team. Faxon is an elite level putter, so pair him with Trevino's irons and Koepkas driver and you may have a really good team. I just don't think you can always make it fit for this stuff. Daly was the long hitter for his day, but would he have been longer than DJ and Rory today based on swing speed? I doubt it.
I think “fuck anyone that says Jimmy Walker” and “your answer sucks” are the strongest points made for Kim thus far
Jimmy walker also has a better career resume than Rickie Fowler. Rather play with Jimmy over Rickie too?
Thats an entirely different argument you’re using to try and prove an entirely different point. Anthony Kim won 3 meaningless tournaments and had two top 5’s in majors. In his career. That was his prime, I have yet to hear a reason why his prime was better than Walker’s other than “fuck you im right”
It’s a common argument. I think it’s best described as who is the better pro? Fowler plays fantastic golf consistently, but his game is never going to burn the barn. He doesn’t have the ability to really blow the field away, yet he has the ability to always be there in contention. Golf is a weird game. I know this, id trade 100 tour wins for one major if that’s all you get.
