Klopp and the club with the ace in the hole to help everybody move on lol. That’s great. One day news cycle on the let down and now we’re moving forward. Love the optics. Love the signing. Now I’ll go watch a couple highlight reels so I can mean it.
I haven’t watched soccer long enough to have a like for like comparison but I just finished watching a 15 min highlight tape and holy shit we’re going to press people into Bolivian with him and Keita. I won’t take back what I said about Henderson deserving a spot in the team to start but this guy looks like a Klopp #6 wet dream.
To maybe better answer the question he’s a lanky DM with good passing range, great feet and very composed. His highlight tape is 1/3 chase down tackles, 1/3 positioning tackles and 1/3 high pressing tackles with good switches of play and good over the top balls that break high lines. Of course it’s a highlight tape but like I said - Klopp wet dream for the DM in the 4-3-3
Watch some clips from Monaco 16-17 with Him, Mendy, Silva, Mbappe. Exciting stuff. He played some RB as well. And he spent only 1 season at Real Madrid on loan before going to Monaco and supposedly didn’t want to play for Mourinho again so that pretty much means he’s going to reach amazing heights as a player
Supposedly City wanted him last Summer but after selling us Mendy and Silva plus Mbappe going to PSG they wanted to cut the selling off and wanted an outrageous fee
How possible is 2 for it to be someone quality when Ox/Fekir could also potentially rotate those spots?
I’d suspect the Pulisic talk to be bullshit once again And while Klopp always prioritizes player utility between multiple positions, I think he knows he needs somebody simply faster than Lallana on the outside if Mane or Salah were to go down for any extended period. Ox is so much more valuable without having to move him into the front 3 of a 4-3-3 formation Edit: realizing that may not be a very clear answer. Trying to say I defnitely think we need a winger
Guys want to play for Klopp too which helps convince someone to come in and be a rotation player vs going elsewhere that minutes or more available
Even more impressive that it was kept quiet when Monaco have been loudly demanding a ridiculous money for Lemar. Don't have a clue what the price for Lemar would be now.
According to transfermarkt, Fabinho is 19/20 on penalties for Monaco. Firmino and Salah are oddly uninspiring on penalties. I know we don't get penalties, but should be helpful. https://www.transfermarkt.com/fabin.../225693/saison_id//wettbewerb_id//plus/1#tore
Having thought about this, I do not think anyone has a real idea on exactly how much money is available. FSG obviously spend a lot of money for the Red Sox. But the Red Sox are clearly more a financial powerhouse in baseball than Liverpool are in soccer. Though the value of the club has tripled since they bought Liverpool. And if the case is that the Coutinho money and the £70ish million from the champions league run are available, and FSG were willing to spend on additional money on top of that, it would be doable. Liverpool's insider journalist have said that we won't buy a striker as they want Rhian Brewster to be involved with the first team. But Brewster hasn't signed and is thinking about going to Germany like Jadon Sancho did at City. I don't think they will move on a player for the front three until they figure out if Brewster is going to stay or not.
I wish Brewster never got hurt, he probably would have seen some decent minutes at the end of the league season
Klopp went out of his way to talk about Brewster's standing up to racial abuse in Russia in his Liverpool awards speech. One of the things that I find most hopeful about club soccer is after a goal when the players celebrate together from all different countries.
If Fekir goes through and Liverpool make a real run at Alisson, I'd be more than happy to take Dembele on loan for a year as was rumored a few weeks ago as opposed to trying to spend to find a backup for Salah and Mane on the wings.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/EilBuzMxl60 The way Keita just starts dribbling the ball and no one can take it away from him boggles my mind
Very impressive work this window guys especially if there is a GK next. I’m not even counting Keïta that you already had done.
Honestly I remember someone posting in the LFC thread a long time ago a trustworthy scale. Joyce and Reddy were in the top group. This guy was just below they so he’s on the fringe but he’s been pretty tied in previously.
