It doesn’t make sense but whatever As long as we add a CM/DM to take over for Dinho I don’t really care what else happens
I know it's easy for me to say it, but once my wages got to a certain level, I think playing time would matter. This is the same debate I got in when Yannick Carrasco gave up and sold out for money and went to China. It's disappointing that one of the more entertaining players in the league wants money more than playing time.
And part of their job is to play. I get that you’re a mercenary for money, I just hate when money trumps actually playing the sport you’re a professional at.
Carassco is 24. Still plenty of time to go back to Europe. Plus now he’s got plenty of money. Seems like a win for everyone. If Mahrez really wants the cash and is ok with sitting then this deal works for everyone. I just think City are paying too much.
Neat, and he could play a whole lot more and make a whole lot of money with a lot of other clubs in Europe. But he sold out for the check. Shame on him.
Teams in Europe don't pay shit compared to the Premier League except for a couple and guess what, he wouldn't play at those teams either.
I don’t know if Afobe was originally a loan-to-buy deal but we’re making it happen. Promotion was hardly contingent on his scoring but he slotted right in when the goals dried up for Bonatini in the second half of the season. Hopefully not our first choice striker but he’s a fan favorite so it makes sense.
Palace and Fulham both want Mitrovic. Imagine Newcastle will end up getting ~20mil Stoke offered Joe Allen out to teams for 20mil lolol
I don't think you understand what teams pay. What team is paying him 150,000 a week? Higuain was the top paid player in Italy at 7.5 million euros a year. Thats 125,000 pounds a week, about 25,000 more than Mahrez makes at Leicester. There are 9 players in all of Germany making more than 125 per week.
I think it's apparent we're not going to agree on this. You seem ok with really good players selling out for money, that's fine. It disappoints me that Mahrez will be playing a majority of his time with a rotated City squad. Best of luck to him, and I hope he enjoys all that money sitting in his bank account while he sits on the bench more than he plays.
I started googling names of the player on the list I saw, and a lot of the numbers don't match up, so I don't know what to believe. I do know most clubs in Europe aren't going to pay more than what Mahrez is already getting at Leicester.
Yeah probably not. Real in that case. What’s going to be fun is seeing how the board plays this after doubling down on the Lewa isn’t for sale earlier in the week.
I would personally hate going from being a clear cut first teamer to rotation for the sake of a few dollars. And that’s based on the fact he is already making about 100 a week at Leicester This argument doesnt happen if this guy is going from 30k to 150k, as that’s an enormous change. But if I was offered a demotion as an athlete in exchange for some more money, I’d keep my great salary and playing time.
You guys are missing the bigger picture here which is £60M for a winger when you only have David Silva, Sterling and Bernardo Silva to play there is just good business.
Yeah, maybe he doesn’t get as much overall playing time, but he gets to play in champions league against the best teams in Europe and he gets to train every day against the best team in England. If he actually only gets 500 minutes of playing time then yeah I agree with you. But I think he’ll still play a decent amount and he’ll get to play and practice against better competition.
This was a guy who was in second division French football literally four years ago and had Theo Walcott steal his haircut. Could you imagine criticizing a friend for taking more money and doing less work? If you can, you're probably on the spectrum.
If my friend was a professional soccer player and decided to go get paid to be a bench player, when he was already making a good amount of money to be a star on a team, I’d clown him. I’d be happy for him but I’d clown him. And I don’t see why it’s weird to think that. Do you hang out around anyone who is an athlete. Not an athlete in the way they’re athletic, but go to school/get paid to play sports? A vast majority have egos and want to play, at least a vast majority of the ones I know.
It’s not always about the money. Some guys just want to win; some want championships; some want better culture; some want to be the star. It’s his life and his wallet.
Is he actually going to get meaningful minutes in the Champions League or just as a sub/maybe start group stage matches if they've already advanced? I can definitely see why he'd wanna move on from Leicester but don't see Man U, Liverpool, or Spurs really wanting him at this point.
Dude. Gimme the fucking money. Mahrez has already won the PL in a way no one will likely replicate. He’s got 4-5 years of max money making years left, gotta get that coin*. *unless than means going to China in your prime. Fuck that.
