It has Brian Cox so I am watching. First episode was decent. One potential risk is that none of the characters are particularly likable. I really hate the Culkin character.
The first episode was directed by Adam McKay, so it had that Big Short style of cinematography and direction. (Not sure who the DP is/was for episode 1, but totally had that look and feel). The show had several moments where I would say to myself, "That would never happen." And that feeling is exemplified whenever Kieran Culkin is on screen. He's fucking horrible, and over-acting like a motherfucker. The show made me absolutely hate that family, but I will give it another episode, however I doubt this shows lasts more than three seasons. If they cancelled Vinyl after one season, and yes I know that show had its issues, so I don't see Succession making past one season. Potentially interesting storyline, but bad casting overall.
He was awful. What about the part when Brian Cox came into the room to discuss staying on as CEO and when he walks in the Culkin character is sitting upside-down on a chair. Like what? You don't need to do that to emphasize his character is easy-going.
i thought it was good not great going into it i thought adam mckay had more to do with it than he did but ill still watch
So did Culkin do the thing with offering $1M to the kid as a means of mocking his own father for kind of dangling his empire in front of his kids, or was he just being an elitist asshole, or was he driving to show his dad how little money seemingly means to him?
I saw it as the show trying to build the character and family - as they have little to no value of money, but realize they can toy around with the average public and literally dangle money in front of their faces.
Show is pretty good with exception of Culkin character. Acting is pretty blah, but I like the plot and concept. Never knew there was that type of VIP lounge in a hosptial #plebeian
I thought the last two episodes really were a step up for the series. It is pretty funny to see how hateful the main characters are in different ways. The Culkin character annoys the shit out of me, and they've actually turned the would-be CEO kid into a somewhat sympathetic character. I know the guy is kind of a fuck-up, but he is at least trying to hold the shit together while the rest of his siblings can't really be bothered. Watching his speaker phone negotiation with the bank was awkward as shit. He gives a half-hearted "fuck off", then breaks the rule of breaking the lingering silence, then breaks that silence by meekly asking if the other guy is still there. Meanwhile, his dad barges into the conference room and starts hammering him and his private equity friend immediately. The grandnephew kid is pretty funny and will obviously be a character that factors prominently with respect to some plotlines.
Just watched the pilot. I have a question about the watch: Did Logan take the son-in-law's watch and the fixer guy gave the Hispanic family Logan's old watch, or did he just give the Hispanic family the new watch?
First two episodes are intriguing but they really need to have at least ONE likable character to root for, that isn't a complete piece of shit for this to work. But so far there is zero. The Greg character is so fucking bad
And the semi-congratulatory acknowledgements from the other guys was fantastic. "Swallowed your load huh?"
We've seen him around girls ... but have we seen him hook up? I dont recall that specifically. I do recall some deep stretching with his trainer ...
Yes I believe he hooked up with the girl from the big charity event that his father spoke at. The one he was talking shit to the butler who was trying to get her number.
Again though I think they've kept visuals purposefully out of the season so far. He talks a lot about how much pussy he's drowning in, but I have a feeling there's a reason why we havent seen proof ...
His ex said they fucked I think once, he isn't fucking this girl. He had more sex with the window than any woman on this show.
Pretty easy line to follow that this coup will cause kendall to commit suicide in some way or another iyam FWIW jmvho gbr
Caught up last night. This show turned out to be great. I am a big Brian Cox fan, but the whole ensemble is solid. So glad it was renewed early. It has so much potential still even though I think it is already awesome. Greg the motherfucking Egg is the man. His facial reactions and the way he puts together sentences are priceless.
My wife and I kept replaying Greg's reaction where he just kind of grunted and shook his head when Tom told him that swallowing your own load was a thing. Love the homage to Ted Kennedy.
I dont like the storyline turn for Kendall, as I found myself rooting for him the most. That said, the writers really know how to play with your emotions and attachment, so i guess that's the point. Compelling characters that I got to know, each with a ton of flaws. This seems like a good way to end a series completely, not sure how they will redeem Kenny for me after this ep ...
Yeah I was worried that would linger and deprive us of full force Brian Cox, but they seemed to use it as a specific plot device and then moved on from it once things began to pop.
Liked watching Kendall go from silver spooned, over his head boss to ruthless, cut throat, win at all costs junkie Really curious to see how Logan fucks Kendall over in future for penance. Some come to heart is not what is in his character. Also want more of Logan's brother, who was the best character in the show imvho
I like, but don't love this show, partly because I don't think there is a character that I find really intriguing ,relatable, or sympathetic. If I had to pick a best character or one I'm most intrigued by it may be Shiv. Great to see her nut up and be a boss last episode...she is clearly very bright and capable and I was glad to see her stand up for herself. Her character seemed to be building toward that moment where she told off campaign boy this season. Her story can go so many ways next season, I look forward to seeing her development and what path she chooses for herself. I did love the "Greg the Egg...I see you man! You Machiavellian fuck!" line....that got a laugh out of me
