We need a moderately progressive Dem that can appeal to all D constituents and pull enough support from the far left and get the Rs that are on the margin and swingy. Obama’s election wouldn’t have happened if W wasn’t so horrible. It was W’s Iraq debacle and being at the helm for the worst ecomomic crash since the Depression that set the table for Obama. And I agree with Obama, he was too soon and the country wasn’t ready.
I believe Obama has been meeting privately with a slate of likely Dem contenders, and the leftist radical, so Google is your friend.
No, I'm curious who your person is. Mayor Pete met with Obama (as have a dozen others, I brought that here earlier today) but I do not believe he can win even though he easily has my vote. I'd like to know yours.
If you are going to kill someone accidentally, that’s probably the best way to do it - victim a complete piece of shit and you’re so drunk that you don’t remember it.
I don’t know enough about Pete, but I’m not convinced that a gay man *can’t* win. I’d like to hear more from him. I have a bias towards a (Dem) female winning the presidency, it’s long overdue and frankly shameful. But I don’t have a lot of confidence that Warren or Harris are the right choices. The more I learn about Gillibrand the less I like her. I like what Jason Kander has been doing for voting rights, and he’s been everywhere the last few years. He’s building huge under the radar networks. I have a homer bias towards Terry McAuliffe, but the Clinton stank might be too much. I like Joe but he’s too old. Nobody excites me right now, but the pack will start to emerge and then thin over the next year.
Jennifer Wexton survives a rather absurd primary in VA-10 to take on Barbara Comstock in an election I’m already tired of seeing ads for.
Seeing the Democratic Party go fully progressive is pretty great, even if purely political, after reading recently about how they’re as if not moreso responsible for mass incarceration over the last few decades in the name of political wins.
Definitely vulnerable, but I wouldn’t say Comstock is weak - she’s an absolute street fighter who is going to have a ton of DNC money (and her own formidable fundraising resources) behind her
Can't disagree. Joe is my guy if 10 years younger. Pete is 100% my guy anytime but he needs 10 more years I think. I would highly recommend going down a youtube rabbit hole on Pete. IMO he's what the future of the party should be.
Other dude in her primary was legit bonkers and I think she knew there are a lot of, but not enough, full trumpers in the district such that she didn’t campaign. She outperformed Trump by 16 points, which is why I wasn’t happy about Friedman and Helmer taking so many shots at Wexton. It’s a district the Dems can and should take, but it will be expensive to do so.
The only threat to a massive blue wave in VA and nationally is what will be the most agressive and organized voter supression strategy ever. It’s coming, the SCOTUS voter roll decision is the tip of the iceberg. It’s the only way Rs can avoid a wipeout. If the elections are unfucked with, then Dems get the House, probably the Senate, and pick of loads up state level seats.
Yup. Run his ads with him disassembling and assembling guns like Forrest Gump. Won’t matter what he says.
It was the Texas Attorney General’s idea. His opponent: He’s currently under felony indictment that’s just sitting stagnant in our justice system, FYI.
