This got me even more hyped up for the WC. The thought of watching either the US or Chile playing a WC match in US soil in 8 years has me overcome w emotion. The fact that my son will be old enough to remember it for the rest of his life is truly priceless.
I believe that was part of their presentation/bid, maybe not the final cities but a list of potential cities that they’d need to cut a few from
I don’t think FIFA has officially announced that all 3 hosts will get automatic qualification yet but it’s very likely given the expanded field for that tournament.
My sons will be 13 and 10. Perfect. Still think it is fucking bullshit the US decided to host with Canada and Mexico.
Believe Bid Book said that grass will be installed everywhere (like in 1994 iirc) Esp given the final is likely at Met Life
Chicago and Minneapolis dropped out due to lack of transparency on FIFAs end, apparently. Detroit, Cleveland, and Indianapolis were passed over. Green Bay didn't submit an application, though they were contacted, and Columbus wasn't contacted. So two Midwest sites.
So basically if you live anywhere near a great lake, your only options are Cincinnati and Toronto. Lol I might try to do Nashville and Cincinnati if the schedule lines up nicely. Or fly to Atlanta, see a game there and then drive up to Nashville and then on to Cincinnati, again pending schedule. It's horseshit frankly. Also, I believe the bid proposed schedule has the US playing a group stage game in Mexico. Which is also horseshit.
I'm sure Atlanta will be one of the top host cities, especially considering you can fly in from literally anywhere
The current list isn't finall, 7 us cities will be dropped at some point. And I really really doubt the US plays any games in Canada or Mexico.
Trying to find a list of hotels rooms by city and this is best I could find. Surprised Boston is so low and might hurt them. https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/hotels/2016/01/10/new-hotels-new-york-houston/78422660/
Their stadium is also out in the middle of nowhere. Dallas is the same but at least their stadium is really nice, Gillette is 16 years old.
i know it is a couple years out until they choose cities, but... 23 possible cities, 16 spots Canada and Mexico get two of their three, which leaves 12 spots for 17 U.S. cities Definite Yes: LA, DAL, MIA, NY, DC, ATL Maybes: SF, SEA, DEN, HOU, KC, NASH, BOS, PHI Definite No: Orlando (enough pull w/ Disney to get it?), CIN, BAL
Fernando wearing his USA2022 shirt. That Qatar ruling crushed me but it turned out better for me because my kid will be 13 instead of 9 so it’ll be much cooler.
This news makes this years tournament much easier to handle for me. I was for sure we’d lose this bid today then have to watch the WC with no USA.
I think it comes down to KC,Denver, Cincy for a slot. What im hoping for West: SF, LA SEA, Edmonton Midwest: Dallas, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterey, Kc East: NY, DC, Atl, Miami, Toronto, Montreal, Boston
Let them open imo, but wouldn't be surprised in the least of FIFA pushed for the final to be there, bid details be damned.
