RBNY used to be firmly in my top 5 hated clubs, not any more. Because the money for Henry, plus Felipe, plus that Aussie fuck. I luld so hard the year they played sporting and Henry got a red card 5 mins in and so many of my friends got so pissed. I just laughed. Reminded me of the time Beckham was supposed to play at sporting park and Collin promised to take a group of us into the locker room to meet him post match. Beckham never got on that plane and the girls we’re sooooo disappointed. I thought it was hilarious.
We can’t keep our best Academy guys. One ex academy guy plays for the Mexican national team, two others have played for the USNT in recent weeks. Of the three, only one spent time with the RSL senior team. Personally, I’m having trouble believing in the Academy business model. RSL sinks a lot of money into their’s and, as you say, it’s a top notch Academy relative to American academies. But...I don’t see the ROI in terms of player contributions on the field for the senior team nor revenue from selling the best Academy players. The way our child labor laws are written RSL trains the kids and then Foreign clubs sign them without compensation to RSL.
Precourt wants to lease the land for $1 a year. Some developers are willing to pay big money to buy/lease the land.
You'll probably end up selling Glad to Europe eventually. Danny Acosta is one of the best LBs in MLS, but got into Petke's doghouse for off the field stuff. He immediately made back to back MLS team of the week when he returned to the lineup.
I don’t think Glad has the physicality to be a top 10 CB in MLS and I doubt there will be much demand for him from Europe. Although, as you say, there will be clubs interested in him and he in them. The transfer fee will not be a windfall for RSL. Acosta has played well in his return. As he plays more and makes better decisions with his shots and a couple of other deficiencies he can become very good.
Lotta tweets today about cocacaf getting added into the Copa Libertadores. I think if they did the easiest thing to do is just let the final for of the CCL get the bids. Don’t know how you would handle the logistics cause it looks like a flight from Seattle to Buenos Aires is like 16 hours.
MLS changed those rules this offseason. That’s why so many kids are getting signed up to homegrown contracts while they’re 15-16-17 now. EPB was a case study in how the old system was flawed. Sporting could of sold him to Juvi or Sporting CP but their offers weren’t good enough under the old rules when MLS took a 1/4 of the profits. Now all homegrown sales go 100% to the clubs and they also can turn those profits into GAM which is huge.
Completely disagree about Glad. He’s just 21 right now. RSLs turn around last year had a lot to do with him getting minutes. No doubt in my mind he can turn into a top CB. He’s just a couple steps forward from mirroring Miazgas career trajectory. (Albeit a year or two behind)
For the record, I hope that you are correct. I’ve seen him improve from “he shouldn’t be a starting CB in this league” to “he’s a lower half of the league CB”. I’m just skeptical about his ceiling.
I wonder what’s next for JK. He left RSL because the new owner low balled him and NYCFC came calling with ManCity luster. His style didn’t mesh with the massive egos at NYCFC. Then he went to OCFC with a fading Kaka and an organization with expectations which outpaced its roster.
I remember prior to 2014 saying that he would be on the short list to take over after Juergen. Whoo boy, bad takes all around. I thought the team they assembled this year would work well for him. Put Dom and Pinho at the top of the diamond with Sacha underneath them. Let Meram and Yoshi/Colman run up and down the wings, have Uri control the game from the base of the diamond. It sounds good. But unless I’m wrong, I don’t think he went with his diamond very much this year. Isn’t that right #Orlando City fans?
Haha. Just saw a tweet that the MLS “fan” 11 is literally Atlanta’s starting 11. I’m not gonna hate because the Royals invented all star game voting takeovers. Imitation is the finest form of flattery and yes Atl, you have flattered me. In saying that, when all star weekend comes around and Miggys transfer to serie a is announced and then Barco strains his hammy in the game the lulz will be for real.
In saying that, it’s obvious the all star team at this point HAS to be: ——-——-Steffen Zusi—Ciman—Abubakar—Davies —-—Chara———Adams -—Elis———Kaku———Miggy —————-Martinez Bench: Melia, Opara, BWP, Vela, Diaz, Vako, Pipa
Jesse Gonzales is like, “are you fucking serious, that guys been sending sitters into the stands all year”.
He used to pop up on the OCSC Facebook page claiming he had insider info about potential signings/moves. I don't remember him being correct very often.
