Leaving the human rights council is a good current example. A group that includes the Democratic Republic of Congo, Saudi Arabia, China, Venezuela, and fucking Qatar is supposed to uphold human rights? Why exactly should we care about leaving that group?
dude a majority of republican voters are in favor of child concentration camps. they dont care what laura bush is saying. they love this shit
Holy fucking shit. The question isn’t “what countries are participating in the human rights council?” It’s “what countries aren’t?” Every fucking country should be working toward advancing human rights and the US should be leading that very difficult charge. Fuck you again for buying into Ben Shapiro’s nonsense. You are fucking pathetic. Go vote for Trump.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence we withdrew from this council the second we start drawing worldwide outrage for locking children in cages and stealing them from their parents. Another example of this bitchmade administration acting tough, but are really gigantic pussies that can’t handle criticism.
That’s nice and all, but this is guy worked the day to day operations of McCain’s 08 run. Putting Sarah Palin on the ticket was the beginning of this shit show. Appealing to the lowest common denominator with know nothing dipshits. Edit: denominator was auto corrected, but I’m gonna go with it.
https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2550 Republicans are split 55/35 on this issue, as opposed to 77/17 on building the wall. Not to mention the independent vote is 68/24. I guarantee you that a good portion of that "oppose" bracket voted for trump. This is a political loser for the republicans and yes it will affect votes in a positive manner for democrats. Some random person yelling fuck you at trump probably doesn't matter at all, but it would have a negative effect for democrats because people who already want to think democrats are hypocrites get to add another piece of evidence to their theory. Dems are supposed to be the high minded party and yelling fuck you at a sitting president is a bad look.
That's a good reason. One that we could debate civilly. This reaction is not. This is outrage that makes a lot of people roll their eyes. I'm sure you know plenty of people who feel this way about democrats who you wouldn't also consider deplorable.
That is not a direct reaction to just the human rights council exit. That's a reaction to dozens and dozens of your opinions and nonsense over the years.
I think people's issue is you don't really stand for anything of substance if you're scared off by people's outrage. If you're so fragile that people saying mean things on the internet changes your vote, you were never much of a believer to begin with.
Or nothing happened and it did not sway anyone one way or another. Perhaps the democrats should focus on people that are against locking babies up.
Are you talking about me or people in general? I've already told you I vote democrat. Have my entire life and probably will my entire life. People in general are fragile. Saying mean things on the internet does change their vote. I have no idea how y'all haven't accepted that emotion is a huge part of politics. It's a much larger factor than actual policy. And if your party's "brand" is to be the caring group who wants the betterment of the people through government, then you get penalized for acting like shitheads more than the party that paints itself as the tough guys who want the government out of your business. (obviously they go off brand all the damn time too) It's a democracy dude. You gotta work within the realities of the voting populace. And people are generally stupid and emotional or else Donald Trump wouldn't be president.
No but it's far from the 77/17 divide on building the wall. Obviously a shitload of people who want a wall don't want to separate kids. They might dislike it so much they vote for the democrats.
Can I apply your perspective in a different way? Wouldn't it make sense for the party that is viewed as "weak" by the party of self proclaimed "tough guys" to play the hardass roll to try and get their street cred up? Why would proving that you're actually tough like they want you to be be looked at as a bad thing, if the actions were actually the catalyst for decision making and not just the excuse?
We are currently having a discussion about concentration camps in our country now is not the time to worry about softening wording to worry about the fragile emotions of republicans
No. Not yelling “Fuck you” at a piece of shit that is violating international law, committing human rights abuses, and destroying America’s leadership position in the world is the bad look.
Probably because that same party is the one that preaches acceptance of all people. You can't preach the acceptance of all people then tell everyone who disagrees with you on politics to fuck off. That is off brand. And it helps solidify the views of people who already think you're full of shit.
We've seen that all of that is a moving target that's not the actual reason they believe in anything. Pretending that calling names matters is just the soup of the day. Remember all the things that mattered when Obama was president that now no longer matter? They never actually mattered to these people in the first place. It's just something that's good enough to use as an excuse, right then. I don't know how you haven't figured this out by now.
Fuck decorum. I bald Trump has opened up baby jails. Baby jails, dude. Get your fucking head out of your ass. Decorum gives him cover to continue his march to authoritarianism. Go vote for Trump if you want to ignore that reality. Edit - I don’t know what I typed to have “Donald Trump” get autocorrected to “I Bald Trump” but I am leaving it. It’s the best autocorrect ever.
It is not off brand to vehemently disagree with and take serious offense to people who are actively trying to hurt others. That is 100% on brand.
I know it upsets you that Merica is a Trump biter now, but you’ll get over it. You don’t have to cry.
Depends on who you're talking about when you say these people. The far right tea party dumbasses? Yeah they're full of shit. The people who don't really care about politics 95% of the time and are the ones that actually decide presidential elections? Yeah calling names and being the more off putting party definitely matters.
The more off putting party The president literally got elected because he calls names and is off putting
It doesn't. Trump literally called Mexicans rapists, said to grab women by the pussy, made fun of handicapped people, and I could go on and on.
Not trying to continue the argument of cutting off your family members for another several pages, but for those of you who don't have immediate family members (and especially if you don't have any children) that support this shit it's one of the toughest things ever. I'm struggling with it right now with my brother and his family, we wanted to be engaged with them and their kids since my wife and I moved closer to be near my family. My brother's wife is straight up defending this garbage right now so I'm having to talk with my wife about what we're going to do long term with them, whatever happens will cause family drama between them, my sister, and my parents. I'd likely be isolated from my entire family and more miserable because of it, so some of y'all can get right the fuck out with this being a clear-cut decision.
Ah so here is the heart of it. Everyone but you is weak. Big tough Merica can handle the name calling without changing his political opinions but his family members aren’t actually selfish assholes won over by overt racism - they were just forced to vote for Trump because Democrats are mean. Grow the fuck up and start holding people accountable for their actions. Democrats didn’t pull the Trump lever for your mom, she did that on her own. It was her choice. You don’t get to blame mean Democrats for it. And for the love of God, either stop listening to Ben Shapiro or fact check the bullshit he spews. He’s lying to you and you shovel it in as gospel.
Imagine listening to Ben Shapiro and actually valuing the things he says. Like, just imagine that shit.
Confront them. Make them speak to this. Now is the time to force the issue and draw a line. Don't give them time to retcon their support. Don't let Fox News give them their talking points. Talk to them today. Make them defend concentration camps in the United States of America. Make them defend the permanent separatation of Latino children from their families. This administration made this happen. They voted for this administration. If they continue to support Trump after today, NOTHING will bring them back. There will be no redemption.
RACISM IS NOT “DISAGREEING ABOUT POLITICS” SETTING UP FUCKING BABY JAILS IS NOT “DISAGREEING ABOUT POLITICS” You can fret about the proper placement of the soup spoon and salad fork all you like, but Godzilla's still just going to crush the entire place setting along with your house. Fuck your decorum.
I legit feel for people who have families full of Trumpers. That shit has to be super hard to deal with.
