I get being disappointed with the trade but you feel #5 and a future first to move up to #3 needs more added?
I dont like the protection, even tho its likely Dallas ends up conveying it next year. Just wish there was Top 5 possibility. And the 2019 draft sucks ass. Getting rid of Bazemore (if youre buying Trae Young stock) is what pushes it over the edge (Dallas could easily unload or buyout Baze).
I've heard of drafting best available, drafting position of need, but drafting guys that remind you of individual dudes is a new one.
Yes, exactly, those were good fits in their respective slots. So that Dallas pick next year needs to yield production. I wouldn't put much stock into the on-air commentary as they weren't very critical of anyone at all.
Great draft. Gotta take risks if we want to move from the middle of the pack. If it doesn't work, we're still only paying rookie salaries with no super max contracts. We're looking at a year where we'll have 2 top 15 picks.
Maybe 3, also have Cleveland's top-10 protected first rounder, depending how things shake out up there.
no you don't get him until you win a championship and 70+ wins, then he'll come over from the Nuggets Also, where do I apply for my team membership? I would like a young team to bandwagon in the east so I can take my mind off of my team that is paying Melo $30M/year and is about to sign up no-playoff PG for another $30M.
Would you say the late season drop off was mainly because his teammates stunk? I'm mostly impressed he almost averaged 10 assists a game in college with that team.
there was definitely a shift after the Bedlam game in Stillwater. He certainly needed to learn how to be a better team player, but you are correct, the talent around him sucked big time. So he took it upon himself to jack up all the shots (took 39 shots, 20 threes) and we lost by 2 at the end of the game. The team chemistry was definitely weird after that. Funny enough, he shot a better % than the rest of the team that night, and the next 2 best players were notorious all season for being absolute shit on the road, so I didn't frankly blame him. It continued and many of the weak minded teammates looked like they just wanted to quit the rest of the season. Our so-called 'leader' who probably led the charge against him had 0 & 5 points in our 2 post season games. It was on Lon Kruger to deal with the locker and he didn't, because he's known as a nice-guy/players coach, so I definitely blame him. He also has weak assistants with no resumes that didn't' help in the situation either. Lastly, the big 12 has many teams with good defenses (in basketball that is) and pretty historic head coaches. Once teams started doubling him and basically forcing the other guys to step up, we were toast. He got beat up and tired and no one on the team could force teams to pay for being wide open and missing. #TeamTrae
OU played no defense last year, it was amazing watching that shitty UT team slice right through them in Norman.
One thing I’m happy about is this might be the first time in years we have a player that can create, get buckets, and be exciting. ISO Joe was not exciting.
that's not necessarily a trae problem (though he was no help) but Lon's teams haven't played defense since he's been around. We've averaged 8th in a 10 team defense in conference since Lon has been here, we've been last 3 times.
Yeah I'm not commenting on Trae, but it was the first thing I thought of when the Hawks traded for him.
