Was starting to think that there's no way Moore beats Conel then he slips by him for 2 then hits him with 5 gut wrenches. Wow. Te'Shan Campbell is still pathetic in case you were wondering.
Brady Koontz won the challenger tournament and then the best of three finals against Cevion Severado at Junior Greco WTT. Gunners
What’s the schedule for tomorrow I will be alone in a hotel watching trials and drinking which is exactly what I was doing last year. Sucks it’s split up after last year was so so good
Last year was amazing. Best trials in recent memory. Tomorrow matches start at 6 PM central. Not super exciting maybe as the only match that is a "toss up" is Gilman-Fix. Green, Ragan, Snyder, Leathers, Stock, and Burroughs should be big favorites. Here is the match order: BOUT ORDER Bout One - Men's freestyle 70kg 2017 World silver medalist – James Green, Lincoln, NE (Titan Mercury WC/Nebraska WTC) 2018 WTT Challenge Tournament champion – Jason Chamberlain, Fresno, CA (Titan Mercury WC/Valley RTC) Bout Two - Women's freestyle 59kg 2017 World silver medalist – Alli Ragan, Colorado Springs, CO (Sunkist Kids/Hawkeye WC/OTC) 2018 WTT Challenge Tournament champion – Jenna Burkert, Colorado Springs, CO (U.S. Army WCAP) Bout Three - Men's freestyle 97kg 2017 World champion – Kyle Snyder, Columbus, Ohio (Titan Mercury WC/Ohio RTC) 2018 WTT Challenge Tournament champion –Kyven Gadson, Ames, Iowa (Sunkist Kids/Cyclone RTC) Bout Four - Women's freestyle 55kg 2017 World bronze medalist – Becka Leathers, Choctaw, OK (Titan Mercury WC) 2018 WTT Challenge Tournament champion – Jacarra Winchester, Colorado Springs, CO (Titan Mercury WC/OTC) Bout Five -Men's freestyle 57kg 2017 World silver medalist – Thomas Gilman, Iowa City, Iowa (Titan Mercury WC/Hawkeye WC) 2018 WTT Challenge Tournament champion – Daton Fix, Sand Springs, OK (Titan Mercury WC/Cowboy WC) Bout Six - Women's freestyle 68 kg 2018 U.S. Open champion – Tamyra Stock, Colorado Springs, CO (Titan Mercury WC/OTC) 2018 WTT Challenge Tournament champion – Randi Beltz, Colorado Springs, CO (U.S. Army WCAP) Bout Seven - Men's freestyle 74 kg 2017 World champion – Jordan Burroughs, Lincoln, NE (Sunkist Kids/Nebraska WTC) 2018 WTT Challenge Tournament champion – Isaiah Martinez, Leemore, CA (Titan Mercury WC/Illini RTC)
Last year's trials was when I realized that I'm gonna be following this sport for a long time. Better than any boxing/ufc card I've ever seen by far. Is women's any good, never really watched them
I really enjoy watching a few of them. Helen Maroulis is absolutely worth watching 100% and is probably the #1 P4P on the planet right now (but Japan is still women's FS king) . Alli Ragan is really good. Adeline Gray is the best at her weight when healthy. Becka Leathers is great to watch as well. Victoria Anthony is wresting bae.
Gilman beats Fix 6-3, the last 2 for Gilman was after a desperation attempt by Fix. Close mtch. Really think we need to see the Fix from the first 30 seconds of that bout in order to go to a 3rd match--lots of feinting, working angles on the outside, engaging on his terms. Gilman wants a brawl.
Just a problem with criteria? I actually like it, especially now that they fixed it so shotclocks don't count as a caution. Now that was stupid.
No problem with criteria for the most part but Gilman having criteria because he stalled first and wanted a slow match is whack. Fix could have done more to not get put on the clock though refs most times even it up
Mainly, that was a completely even match but Fix has to go for it bc refs had to even up shot clock points
Gilman wins 2-1 in match 2. Gilman is a really heady wrestler. I wouldn't put him up with Burroughs and Ramos, imo the two smartest wrestlers domestically, but he's in that next tier with Snyder. He always wrestles his match.
Jack Davis drops Pitt for PSU, more fodder for the room I guess. Edmond Ruth to Fresno to finish school.
I keep getting free stuff from Rudis for some reason. Pretty sure it's from Brandon Slay or Ben Askren.
This is two years old but I’ve never watched the full thing. I watched him in HS and was amazed. He basically tore Chris Bohn’s Shoulder out in that final state title match and Bohn had every chance in that match to win and honestly should have won but some poor coaching management put Kolat in a great place. I was witness to Kolat’s first college match - he pinned Zadick pretty quick then lost the next day by decision. After that there was the arrest in the bushes and the transfer. I was in Minny in 96 (?) and he absolutely dominated. Pretty sad because the guy was the most dominant wrestler I’ve ever witnessed with my own two eyes but then again I’m glad he’s doing well.
Our HWT was accidentally shot this morning. Non life threatening. I can only imagine the story behind this.
Was he the Iowa wrestler that was a classless POS at nationals? I think it was him, but I don't remember.
Sam Stoll is the guy. Returning AA. Possible title contender next year. The fact that he was shot in the knee is actually amazing. Dude has had multiple major knee injuries and just came off an acl injury last year. Very unfortunate, hope he is able to wrestle still.
F*cking Tan Tom and all of his antics. We’ll probably have to wrestle them at Nationwide arena next season.
Tomorrow night Adam Coon attempts to take down returning bronze medalist Nick Gwiazdowski for a spot on the Senior Men's Freestyle World Team. Today, Adam Coon defeated Robby Smith two matches to none to earn a place on the Senior Men's Greco-Roman World Team. He's got a chance of doubling up, folks.
The event itself or the matches? Matches: Colon vs Garrett This is going to be fucking awesome. Garrett is the explosive guy who can do anything at any given moment (including getting scored on), and in my opinion, Colon has been the best and most consistent guy at the weight for the last year. I've got Colon winning two out of three in the best three matches of the night. Conder vs Anthony Victoria Anthony is wrestling bae and that is that. I know Conder beat her handily at the US Open but bae always finds a way. Cox vs Zillmer Cox will win two matches to none and it will be boring as fuck. Zillmer can't take down J'den so Cox will be playing it safe all night. Hildebrandt vs Augello I picked Augello at the Open and that didn't happen. Switching things up and going with Sarah this time. It wasn't particularly close last time IIRC. Salata vs Molinari Salata 2-0, it's her time. She's been grinding for long enough. Gwiz-Coon Man. I just don't know. Gwiz is one of the best in the world right now, but this is the Year of Coon. I don't think any heavyweight outworks Coon. And none are as big. Coon has improved leaps and bounds in just about every facet, as seen today against a guy who worked him in the past in Robby Smith. Gwiz is going to get in on Coon's left leg at least twice and get met by the hips from hell both times. I'm going with Coon in two close ones as he completes the unimaginable double.
