This thread is for people with pools, people getting a pool and/or people who like pools. I'm getting a pool very soon. Got a bid from Blue Haven and I'd appreciate any commentary... A couple of things I'd like to add...a natural rock structure with steps for the slide as opposed to the stand alone feel it currently has (cost quoted on this was $10k so it gives me pause but I think it will be safer and have a better look). Bubbler and fountains on the shelf entry for the kiddos. Wanted to put a slide off the deck which I thought would be super cool but it would require concrete pillars and was going to get pretty involved.
I’m getting my third above ground pool this weekend. I’m still working out how to connect them via tubes, but I’m pumped to get this project kicked off.
lechnerd how mad are you going to be when a neighbor copies your design but manages to one up you six months after yours is finished?
I have our neighborhood pool literally across the street from my front yard. Perfect scenario because I don't have to take care of it, I don't have any liability for it, and it takes me 16 seconds to get to from my garage
Find a cleaning company you like, either their techs or a third party, and pony up the cash to have them come out periodically to check on the chemicals. Everyone I know who tries to monitor it themselves fails spectacularly.
Who spends that kind of money on a pool that only goes 6 ft deep? Are you a family full of hobbits or something?
He said don't get a chlorine pool. I merely pointed out that the salt water pool he is referencing is still a chlorine pool.
All 4 of my kids are under 3 feet tall so yeah kinda. Everyone I know that has a deep pool considers their deep end of the pool a dead area. Its cool in the beginning but then nobody uses it after a little while.
Don't waste time on the trolls a.tramp Lets focus on the serious posters. What do you think of my pool and equipment? Anything you would change? Am I overpaying? Can I do the chemicals on my own?
(1) Yes, you're overpaying. (2) Ditch the slide. It's going to turn to shit very quickly and it's an eyesore from the get-go. (3) No, you do not want to do the chemicals on your own. (4) Either way, you should get a salt chlorination system. It's more expensive on the front end, but that shouldn't matter for a rich doctor like yourself.
Speaking of trolling, that equipment list makes me think this entire thread is a ruse to troll me. Hayward! Congrats on getting hooked up with the equipment of the proletariat, I always had you pegged as bourgeoisie. I guess I was wrong.
No, it is like that other time when some one said don’t get a chlorine pool, get a chlorine pool instead.
I fully know what you meant it is just that there are people out there that seriously believe their saltwater pool has no chlorine in it. After 3-5 years when their salt cell wears out and they have to replace it because it is no longer generating chlorine and the pool is turning green, they can not comprehend what is going on. They seriously think I am full of shit as they are “allergic to chlorine” and they would not have been able to swim this entire time if their pool had chlorine in it. Some people literally believe salt water kills and sanitizes everything. I then ask them how plants and fish live in the ocean.
The guy working for the company installing the pool that only installs Hayward equipment said that? Weird.
