Something clearly happened between him and Scott. I suspect they had a falling out leading Scott to leave, BUT I also can’t imagine Howard not offering to help. I have to think he was asked to not get involved.
He works for Sirius, not Howard. He’s on a different floor and works on other shows, in addition to the Stern Show. That engineer Thom basically took his place.
I didn't know that. Figured something was up when he had Artie and Bob Levy doing a charity show. The moment Howard got rid of the TV guys, I started to lose some respect for him.
Holy shit I didn’t realize Scott was gone although I don’t listen near as much anymore. There is truly a black cloud over that man.
Unless they announce it, I never notice someone's gone until way later and it gets brought up. Like this.
They rarely ever announce it. Lisa G, Langford, Lieberman were all daily people on the show and now you dont hear from them at all.
This is the correct point- the fact that he had a go fund me page and a benefit put on by Artie showed he would accept some assistance. The fact Howard did nothing to even alert people of it shows what a complete asshole he has really become. Sure save some fucking cats but dont lift a finger for a guy who worked for you for 30 years.
H100 is a legit gripe, HTV is different. Those guys worked for OnDemand, not Howard or Sirius. Outside of Howard actually just paying their salary to keep them there, they lost their jobs bc they weren't pulling in enough subscribers and OnDemand made the call.
exactly what I thought. Whatever howard does in these situations he likes to respect the privacy of the individuals. If he donated he is not going to do it through gofundme. Just like robin, he was respecting scott's wishes. In addition, howard is the type who is not out there like other celebrities using these things as a publicity opportunity. It makes him uncomfortable. I am very similar, so I understand.
Why would you need a go fund me for $50K if Howard was helping? I know Howard loves to remind everyone that it's his money and no one has a right to it, etc., but $50K? He's worth $600 million, he could, whether he'd admit it or not, give him a couple million and not even realize it's missing. He makes $90 million a year. That's $250K a day. No one he cares about should be worried about $50K for their wife's cancer treatment or whatever. To put that in context, $50K to someone who makes $90 million a year is equivalent to $55 to someone who makes $100K a year. Anyone even thinking twice about giving their friend $55 in this situation?
How do you know that Scott's wife's treatment wasn't like $550k in medical bills, and Howard didn't give him half a mil?
True, it could have been. Maybe Howard gave him millions. But he was raising $50K for something. How shitty would you feel if you gave a guy $500 for his wife's cancer treatment, and he needed $55 more and you were like nah....
There are a million reasons that could've happened. Scott's wife has been sick for a while, so maybe Howard ponied up from the very beginning and Scott didn't want to ask him for the last bit, or something like that. It would be damn hard to ask a guy for additional money if he's already paid a shit load. There are so many possible scenarios that I give him the benefit of the doubt due to Scott's tweet.
I see that. But if you are Howard, do you let Scott post a go fund me for $50K?? When you see it, don't you just go, here, take this $50K. Maybe Scott refused to take any more money from Howard. Howard has a bit of a reputation here though. I could see it both ways, honestly.
I don't know. Why don't you take Scott at his word instead of trying to push this "Howard is a piece of shit" narrative?
Because, like I said, Howard has a bit of a reputation. He's been a piece of shit before. He's been in situations where he could have helped, financially, and didn't, because he turned on someone that he was once very close to. I'm still saying I don't know the whole story, Howard might have done everything he possibly could.
Lol ok. So let's speculate about him being a POS awhile saying you don't know the whole story. Got it.
But we also know Scott is begging for $50K and saying his savings is drained and he's going into significant debt. It's not like we don't have *some* evidence for what I'm saying. You don't know the whole story either, and are defending Howard. We are both guilty of the same thing, on opposite sides.
Except I'm saying, maybe don't call someone a piece of shit without knowing the whole story. You're saying I can't prove he's not a piece of shit because I don't know the whole story. That's an incredibly twisted, fucked up way to look at this.
eh, it's Howard. He's an incredibly fucked up person who has turned his back on his "friends" before. I really don't care that much, this has gone on too long.
Quit counting Howard's money Jackie? The guy who left when Howard told him to stay and think about the long term. Stuttering John? The guy who left to go get a payday from Leno? Artie? the guy who drugged himself out of a job and nearly his own life? Howard doesn't owe those "friends" anything.
This. Also, Robin went on and on about how much time he spent at the hospital with her when she almost died. Says more about character than scratching a check (which he has also done in the past).
When I saw what was going on with Scott's wife it reminded me of the 9/11 story when Robin ended up stranded at the Salem house. She was stuck and couldn't find a way back to her place in the city, so Scott's wife made Scott lend Robin his car. Robin's description of the smoke-stained windows, full ash trays and bowling ball rolling around in the back was a pisser.
This story always made me cringe. Poor guy and his wife take her in and she just trashed everything about it.
Exactly. I hate robin but I think that is one of her better moments. Making fun on Scott is staple. She was able to make fun of him as well as come of as appreciative at the same time. Easily one of robins few top moments.
