Bit over 1 million for my guy. Below average but 50 bbs so whatever. It has been a really sick run for his first main event.
Nice. Not bad. It does seem crazy after 4 days to get just 3.7x buyin but the payout increases here on out are crazy. I couldn’t imagine the anxiety at each bubble payout.
A few years ago I remember the board followed the guy from Maryland who someone on TMB knew. Didn't he make the final table?
I figured that’s who you were talking about. He was/is a legend at the local Tuscaloosa games where I cut my teeth.
We grew up together; next door neighbors in Irondale, before I moved to Hoover. Played baseball every day in the front yard. It was funny because I had no clue he even played until his Aussie Millions appearance.
I grew up in Irondale too before ultimately moving to LP. Nottingham in the late 90s/early 2000s was a great neighborhood to be a kid.
Gotcha. I’ve always been curious but have never had the chance to do a live one. Played a lot online when I was younger, and here and there with friends (like 8-10 total people). Always felt like I was decent but would love to try the actual thing. Only been to a casino twice, both times had ads up for a tournament but was doing other things while in those towns and didn’t want to get caught up in something super long.
I won or chopped the first two live 50+ person tournament I played in and have yet to cash in one since. Beginners luck I guess.
Kelly Minkin is crushing it. I played with her all day in a $1K at the Commerce this spring and she is completely legit. Would not be surprised at all if she was the first female to final table the main.
Yeah, she took a big chunk off Shannon earlier. Btw, I believe Kathy Leibert finalled a ME before, but not in the post-boom era Edit: nm, I was thinking of Annie Duke and she finished in like the teens.
Damn, that sucks. GG to him. Fading coolers (or sucking out when you get into one) is such an important part of making a deep run.
Yup. Remember how mad the poker community was during Joe McKeehen's win 2 years ago because he ran pure the entire event. He had "it" almost every single river he got into for the whole tournament and never ran into a cooler.
Jake Barnes I think I've mentioned it before, but I had a buddy that was friends with Shannon in HS and college. Even though Shannon is a no good bammer, I am rooting for him.
They found gold with Nejad/Schulman. Especially Schulman. He's absolutely captivating as a commentator.
Just knocked a guy out to move back over 4M. He's at one of the outer feature tables starting up on PokerGo.
Rooting for Minkin (and y’alls boys). That king high shove on that ace flop last night was a boss move. And a woman shipping the main would really help poker.
Eh, maybe a little. Been plenty of egalitarianism in poker for a long time. Biggest help would be federal legalization of online.
Of course. I made a living in the early 2000s on Stars. You have to think it’ll follow suit with sports gambling and be legal in most states again in the near future.
Trudeau check-shoved on the river of a four-flush, paired board. Villain tanked for about six minutes and folded. Trudeau flipped 5s (none on the board) and raked in the chips.
