Yea, I try to go every other thursday. I work until 9 every other thursday so it’s nice to go on my off weeks.
This. Guana preserve is a little slice of heaven, and worth launching from. Julington creek and black creek have some good fishing too.
Went and checked out Gilbert’s Beach BBQ for dinner tonight, it was killer. Kind of a small menu but everything we got was a delicious. Menu only has about 5 starters, 6 taco meals and a few side options.
The Social menu, on Southside, is his best IMO. Expanded menu of worthy Q & soul food. The beach location is the tits though
Went to Sugar Cane, a Cuban restaurant up on mayport in AB, it was fantastic. Y’all should check it out.
Went to vs again and tried the spicy picante and it was delish. The guy "messed up" my first pizza so I got another one for free. The pizza had like 1/8 of it folded under when they were moving it in the oven and the manager wasn't happy with the way it looked so they jsut brought me another one.
Manifest Distilling, barely two years old, has landed a partnership with the Pacific Southern Wine Company that will lead to inter-state expansion. The deal will mark Manifest's entrance into the Georgia and South Carolina markets. Manifest Distilling will celebrate its second anniversary in September. Based in downtown Jacksonville, Manifest distributes gin, barrel-aged gin, vodka, citrus vodka and rye whiskey mostly thorough north and central Florida. Wine and spirits sales and marketing company Pacific Southern started up in 1987 and represents family-owned wineries around the world. "I am really excited," said Manifest Distilling founder and CEO David Cohen. "We've been approached with opportunities like this before from other suppliers or sales marketing companies. And the fact that they're a family-run business made it a natural fit." Cohen said the deal came about through a Manifest employee who had connections at Pacific Southern, which also represents Jed Steele at Steele Winery. To commemorate the partnership, Manifest will release a special bottling on July 13 of barrel-aged gin aged in one of Steele's Chardonnay barrels. The 300-bottle release will only be available at the distillery at 960 E. Forsyth St. “The Chardonnay barrel used for this single release imparted traditional French oak character along with some nice mango and papaya tropicality," Cohen said. "Our team was incredibly surprised and obviously pleased with the results.” Manifest expects its core products to be distributed in Georgia by the end of the year and in South Carolina soon after. Cohen said that Pacific Southern also has a sales representative in South Florida, which will help the company focus on that area as well. "The way we built the company was to operate on a certain scale in order to be profitable," Cohen said. "To hit that, we need to hit a certain volume. Operating at our most efficient capacity with Pacific Southern really takes us to that place."
I just got an email from the jaguar member services about my tickets to a tour this Saturday for season ticket holders. I have never been to a jags game and don't have season tickets. Somehow I do have an account but it isn't showing season tickets. I'm guessing I have an account from purchasing concert tickets at dalys place. I'm just confused
Any recs on a hole-in-the-wall/no frills seafood spot where I can get oysters and cold beer? I’m down here for work at least 3-4 nights/month and need to explore more.
If you’re willing to go to st. Augustine, caps on the water is a cool spot. Timoti’s in five points is supposed to be good but I haven’t been.
I stay out towards the airport because that’s where my site is, but the area fucking sucks and I want to something different. Don’t mind making the drive into town at all.
http://www.palmsfishcamp.com/ Is on that side of town. Sits right on the water and will be pretty low-key. Don't know what your availability for lunch is, but if you're working on that side of town, find your way to Cleo's Sandwich Shop for the best taco salad you'll ever put in your face.
90% of the best food options are in the areas around downtown (Riverside, Avondale, San Marco). It’s only 15-20 minutes from the airport.
As the city weighs competing proposals to develop a downtown convention center, one of the bidding developers submitted an alternative vision Thursday — one that would incorporate the facility into the planned Shipyards project and create a separate mix-used facility on Bay Street. Rather than build a convention center at 220 and 330 E. Bay St., Rimrock Devlin DeBartolo Jacksonville LLC — a joint venture between Rimrock Devlin Development and DeBartolo Development LLC — submitted plans to develop multifamily units, a hotel, restaurants and a parking garage on the site. The group had originally submitted a bid to develop the convention center on the Bay Street location. The development, called Riverwalk Place, would include a 347-unit luxury apartment complex, a 150-room hotel, 10,000 square feet of restaurant space and 468 parking spaces. “We share the city’s vision to transform downtown Jacksonville into a vibrant city core and are excited to be involved in that transformation," Wallace Devlin, director at Rimrock Devlin said in a release. "Our goal is to activate the North Bank riverfront, improve upon connectivity and walkability, and create a destination for everyone that lives in or visits our great city.” Plans for Riverwalk Place were submitted to the Downtown Investment Authority on Thursday. The two development companies are working with Iguana Investments, a firm owned by Jaguars owner Shad Khan, to build a 490,000-square-foot public convention center and a 350-room hotel down the street at the 70-acre Shipyards site. But the city has, for almost a year, intended for a convention center and hotel to go at the former courthouse and city hall annex site. Three companies, including Rimrock Devlin, responded to a request for proposals earlier this month. The city is not bound to decide on one of the responses to the RFP, two of which came from companies based in Texas. There potentially could be legal issues, however, if that request for proposals wasn't made in good faith. DIA is in the process of reviewing those responses. In the meantime, Rimrock Devlin DeBartolo's plan could help swing the city's decision toward Iguana Investment's vision. “We believe the Shipyards is the optimal location for the Convention Center and hotel because of its riverfront location, ability to expand if needed, and synergies gained from its proximity to the existing sports venues and other development activities planned in the immediate area,” said Edward Kobel, president and chief operating officer of DeBartolo Development. “Our alternative development proposal for the Old Courthouse property will serve as a perfect complement and will provide downtown with much needed uses and facilities that will help strengthen the connectivity between the downtown core and sports complex area.”
