Hungry Howies freshly cooked large pizza for $5 instead of a Hot and Ready bullshit Little Caesers was my MOVE in college when I was broke, was planning on partying, and wanted to devour a pizza as my meal for the day in college.
Hungry Howie's is the worst chain I've tried. I find it hard to believe there is one worse. It was the only time I've gotten pizza delivered and then threw it away and left to go eat something else. There was nothing appealing about the crust with or without any added seasoning.
Donatos thin crust pepperoni is some quality chain pizza. Not sure how big their footprint is though Edit from Wikipedia: As of 2017 there are about two dozen franchisees operating more than 100 Donatos Pizza locations in nine states: Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Donatos is dangerous for the same reason Marion’s in SE Ohio is. Those little fucking pieces trick the mind and then two pizzas later, you have congestive heart failure.
I have had it one time and this was almost exactly my experience. It was all we could get delivered where we were so I figured, how bad could it be. I didn't know it was possible to make pizza this bad. Could not eat it.
My bad, man. Let’s get back to saying as much mean, passive-aggressive shit to each other instead. I’m good, gimme the shitty pizza talk.
Michigan is responsible for giving you: Domino’s Little Caesar’s Hungry Howie’s Jet’s Michigan is not responsible for giving you: Papa John’s
Midwestern thin crust, tavern/cross cut is the pizza equivalent of potato chips. You tell yourself that you're only going to have so much. But then you look down, the bag is empty, and there's nothing left but a grease stained piece of cardboard.
Michigan's biggest mistake was not branding/marketing the square deep dish as "Detroit Style" back in the 60's. Debate would be New York vs Detroit Style and that shitty doughy mess from Chicago would have been long forgotten.
it is but a lot of people know the pizza but don't know it's "Detroit Style" did you know that original Buddy's near Hammtrack still uses the same pans from when they opened in the 50s.
I remember Donatos only because they were the pizza sponsor and distributor at games for the Blue Jackets. I went to see Pavel Bure my favorite hockey player play albeit with the Panthers. The next day was The Game (2000) and went to see Steve Bellisari shit the bed.
Those guys opened a coney dog truck last year. I haven't been yet, but they supposedly use Dearborn dogs.
If the pans are included I might have to put an offer in https://detroit.eater.com/2018/7/12/17565100/buddy-pizza-detroit-pizza-restaurant-building-for-sale
In related pizza news, Breville is coming out with a counter top electric pizza oven that gets up to 750 degrees.
I need to try Via 313 again, the only time I had it it was soggy and undercooked. I need to try it again.
I once overdosed on the wax, sat and ate 19 pounds of pizza trying to figure out if the sign really said "Piazza"
Buddy's in Detroit is dope. Underrated pizza. St Louis Pizza and their fake processed cheese can get fucked.
So “Detroit style” is basically rectangular and may or may not have a thick crust that has possibly been baked twice? I guess that’s unique
It is. I live in Michigan and had my first Detroit style at 313 when it was just a truck. It was good.
Detroit style is probably my favorite style. I've only had it in Vegas at Pizza Rock a few different times and everybody that has it said it was outstanding.
