Can confirm the wind advisory in south Texas. Played golf in Corpus Christi this morning and it was a four club wind. Not pretty
Fucking love Happiest Hour, really great place to have a cocktail or beer and some really good food. That upstairs bar is a fantastic place to hang out as well.
so far, 11 confirmed dead. hundreds of homes completely destroyed. think we are in the clear on severe weather now as the cold front has made inroads and we are at 45 degrees. still gonna be rainy and windy today though making assessment, rescue & clean-up less than ideal.
was driving home from Louisiana and rode out the storm at the Buc-ee's in Terrell, which is a great place to ride out a storm
Not in town, but I live in garland. Roommate was telling me our back window was blown out, his car door was blown out, both our trash cans are gone. Other than that, we were unharmed. Apparently pretty lucky because this was our neighbors two houses down
Still alive. Feel horrible for the people that got killed while driving in their cars by 30 and George Bush. Couldn't even imagine that..... Just moved from Frisco to Melissa just north of McKinney. Guess there was a tornado in Blue Ridge a few miles away.
Shit, we've had more ppl die due to tornadoes the past 4 days than the rest of the year combined. Last night's tornado was given an initial rating of at least an ef3 (136-165mph)
Picture (from @gjmccarthy) of damage in Garland. Damage is EF-4 (166 mph - 200 mph) in intensity. Only the second EF-4 in Dallas County since 1950. Damage in Rowlett is from and EF-3...winds of 136-165 mph.
The neighborhood I grew up in was completely leveled by the tornado in rowlett. Luckily my parents moved in the last year, however, really sad to see all my friends posting on Facebook pictures of what is left of their houses
I am interested in which neighborhood you grew up and what time frame. I know a bunch of guys from the Rowlett area. Most live in Sachse now. I live in Plano so it missed my house by about 10 miles.
My secretary lives in Rowlett. Her house wasn't damaged; however, starting a few houses down from her, there is a string of several houses that were leveled.
The National Weather Service should just issue an excessive heat warning for around here until at least Labor Day.
Most of the time I do not regret the choices I made in life that led me to my pool business. This past week is not included in most of the time...
It's not great Bob. I tell all my customers ahead of time that if I don't make it to your house by 1pm, you will be bumped to the next day. I have a pretty hard 2pm cut-off in this heat so I can live to fight another day. Which meant I stopped working when it reached 107 today... I might have to move that to 11am if this shit keeps up much longer.
My AC is basically out (can't get the house below 82 degrees) and I have 9 month pregnant wife. Being at the office is my favorite part of the day.
Had my annual AC tuneup this morning. Guy told me that they’ve been lobbying his boss to let them work split shifts and not work between 2 and 6 but so far no go. He was in my attic around 8am so it wasn’t bad but that job has to be literal hell on earth in the afternoon
The people who installed my AC ducting a couple months ago decided to just stop midway through and not connect the ducting to all the vents. I have multiple ducts just emptying out into the attic. My attic is cooler than many of the rooms in my house. My energy bill
I remember when I moved here in 2012 and we had like 60 straight days in triple digits, a guy I worked with had a $1000 power bill. He had a big house and 2 units, but still
