Fuck me. Just found out that it was the wife of a really good friend of mine killed in that wreck on Winchester Rd this morning.
Sounds like he was drunk and tried to race a train. I didn't know either one but apparently had a lot of mutual friends with the driver. http://www.al.com/news/huntsville/i...ed_in_sunday_c.html#incart_river_mobile_index
Did you guys know Chris Tucker was going to be in town this weekend? Had no clue till just now. All four shows sold out
Yeah...the wife told me her and her cousins were trying to go. They waited too long to get tickets also. Stand up live has really brought in some good comedians.
Did it last year and placed in 2nd in Chicken and won Kids Choice (look at me) Wish we were doing it again but schedules just didn't work. Will for sure be back next year.
Shameless plug for event an event Sunday: I would like to invite you to an event at Mad Malts this Sunday May 20 that is going on from 4PM-8PM. There will be food trucks, music, beer, therapy dogs(and maybe a miniature horse or two), your dogs, and hopefully YOU! (Kid friendly and pet friendly!!) The event is for a good cause in support of Therapy Partners Inc. The group of handlers and animals act as a therapeutic tool in hospitals, schools, long-term care facilities and other places to bring a smile to someone who needs it.
Highly recommend following "Huntsville traveler" on twitter. They post great deals on flights for nearby airports. I've seen a few really good deals for overseas, mostly Europe, flights today
making the trek back to town on the 4th, friends are throwing us a baby shower on the 7th where is a good spot to head afterwards to watch the World Cup quarterfinal?
The Huntsville American Outlaws group watches at STA. There is a new bar above Sammy T’s that has a lot of TVs and would be a good place to watch a game.
I'm very weary of being in too close of a proximity to large AO groups as my encounters in the past have been less than ideal. That said, I think STA is the plan. Come hang if you're free.
Yeah, those guys suck. I’m not sure what kind of turnout they’re having with America not playing so it might not be that bad. We’ll plan on meeting y’all down there at some point. Probably around lunch.
Trash Pandas. Let’s make it happen. http://www.milb.com/tickets/form.jsp?formid=madison_team_name_vote&formcode=form§ion=team3
I’ll probably just read through this thread later this evening but I have a possibility of getting a job in Huntsville or Florence Alabama in the very near future. Can you fine folk tell me how much I would love or hate living in Huntsville? I’m assuming Huntsville is better than Florence from my reading? What’s the cost of living like? I’ll be looking to rent. A one bedroom or studio just something really small and cheap for myself for the time being.
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by HSV. Cost of living is great & it’s completely different than the rest of Alabama. Including Florence. Like dawgonit said, depending on where you’re comity from, you could get something bigger for what you’re expecting to pay for 1br or studio
I sometimes see what HSV Reddit users are talking about and someone came up with moon coons...man, opportunity missed IMO
Do any of you remember Mikato Steakhouse? I was reminded recently that it closed and it was always my favorite.
I don't. They reopening? I always liked Pauli's on 72 in Madison. I had a steak dinner at Luciano's not too long ago and told the waiter how much I liked it and it reminded me of Pauli's. The The waiter then told me their steak guy used to work at Pauli's. How about that!

https://www.waff.com/2020/05/04/m-decatur-city-schools-reach-deal-m-buys-brookhaven-middle-million/ Feel like there is eventually going to be a documentary on 3M's pollution along the Tennessee River and the surrounding dump site areas. They sold a landfill and Decatur put a school on top of it. Kinda crazy.
you're probably right. Not surprising I guess from Decatur considering they literally have flowing in the streets.
Yes it could get ugly. Especially if you account for the demographics of the school that became Brookhaven Middle. It was universally known as the worst of the 3 middle schools in Decatur.
I imagine most the other manufacturers along the river that deal with chemical waste are praying the attention doesn't shift towards them.
I just so happened to have the news on when they were talking about Brookhaven. Caught my eye because the person they were interviewing was a guy I worked with. Guess he went to school there. He talked about how its messed up to think about how they practiced football on top of that landfill.
yes and drank the water! we always joked that the pollution in the river is why Decatur people are all so fucked up. Of course we were mainly thinking of the Browns Ferry Nuclear plant. Brookhaven and Oak Park were the exact same awful, windowless buildings on separate plots. Brookhaven was zoned for almost entirely lower income neighborhoods. (at least in the late 90s and through the 2000s) Anyways my Dad moved to Huntsville in 2013 so I rarely if ever go back to D Rock. Huntsville is a great place.
So apparently it's really easy to spray paint swastikas and other racist shit on the parkway without getting caught
