So we're essentially getting the team back together. Amir Johnson back for one more year. Nemanja Bjelica signed to a one year deal. Seems like he'll slight into Ilyasova's role. Would have preferred to not bring Amir back and let Holmes play more considering he offers a lot more energy and offensive capability, but I'm sure he's coming back on the vet minimum. They'll have a few decisions to make to trim the roster down. Would still make sense to buyout Bayless if they can't dump him somewhere. Probably can designate Milton as one of their two-way contracts that doesn't count against the 15 man roster. Maybe do the same for Korkmaz Centers - Embiid, Johnson Forwards - Saric, Covington, Chandler, Holmes, Bjelica, Anderson Guards - Simmons, Reddick, Fultz, Z. Smith, Shamet, McConnell, Bayless, Korkmaz, TLC, Milton
Well, bye Nemanja Bjelica, who had agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the 76ers, informed the team on Tuesday morning that he will stay in Europe this season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Bjelica had never actually signed the contract with Philly, giving him the opportunity to reverse course. It's a tough blow for the Sixers, as they were counting on Bjelica to provide depth at forward. This will open up some minutes for the newly acquired Wilson Chandler. In addition, Furkan Korkmaz may see an uptick in playing time as well. The Sixers also now have their mid-level exception back, and can add another player to the roster.
What kind of expectations were happening for Bjelica? I saw the signing but didn't know anything else. Also, is Furkan any good? He had one great summer game but never remember him playing last year in the ~40 or so games I watched. I know he was injured but also a mystery to me.
Extremely streaky, but good length and can get off a shot almost whenever he wants with a quick release. Has made some improvement at getting his own shot and a drive/floater game.
Sort of fill the Ilyasova role as a stretch 4. Will likely just open up more minutes for Wilson Chandler, who had similar volume and 3pt % last year. May also open up a little more time for Holmes, which is nice. Furkan was very raw last year and frail. Has played with a bunch of confidence this summer. Would be nice if he can parlay that into the regular season to help replace Belinelli to a lesser degree. Obviously nowhere near as polished of a scorer as Belinelli. Still going to temper my expectations for him this year.
No way he’s a four. He’s a swing man at the biggest and ideally and 2. More than likely he’ll be out there when they try to go “small”. And unless he starts starts hitting jumpers he won’t be out there more than 5-10 minutes again.
As part of the Carmelo Anthony trade executed by the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Sixers have acquired Atlanta Hawks big man Mike Muscala in exchange for a pair of their young wing players, a team source confirmed to PhillyVoice on Thursday afternoon. Former first-round pick Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot will be sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder, while swingman Justin Anderson will reunite with former Sixers assistant coach Lloyd Pierce in Atlanta. Looking like we're trying to make another move in the coming days. Probably trying to unload Bayless. But Muscala will step into the stretch 4 role.
He looked to be an odd man out last year. It was guaranteed they’d be trimming down the roster. They need to. This move gets them to 15 guys under contract for next year. Gotta make room for Furkan. He’s got more promise and is only 20 He’s a decent young player for the end of the bench, for sure. But 37% from the field and only career 32% from 3pt ain’t gonna cut it
Please bring him home. Just don't want them to toss in Holmes The 76ers have had discussions about trading Jerryd Bayless to the Cavs for Kyle Korver, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The 76ers just lost a couple wings in Justin Anderson and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, so it sounds like they're not wasting time to replace them. Presumably, the 76ers would have to throw a pick in on this one, or maybe they can package someone like Richaun Holmes to entice the Cavs.
a 2nd rounder would be fine. bayless is an expiring contract whereas Korver is not although his guaranteed money in 2019 is low.
What do lineups look like with Korver on the team? Would imagine him and JJ are interchangeable but you can’t have them on the court at the same time.
Well that was stupid The Sixers are trading Richaun Holmes to the Suns in exchange for cash considerations, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports. Phoenix cleared some cap space earlier in the day by trading Jared Dudley to Brooklyn in exchange for Darrell Arthur, whom they will buy out. This move essentially assures that the Suns will not re-sign free agent Alex Len. Holmes will earn $1.6 million for the 2018-19 season. He will compete for playing time at center with No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton and veteran Tyson Chandler.
But I guess it means Bolden is coming over Jonah Bolden has agreed to a four-year, $7 million rookie deal with Philadelphia, which includes team options. Philly cleared the cap space to sign Bolden by trading Richaun Holmes to the Phoenix Suns for cash considerations on Friday morning. The Sixers selected Bolden with the 36th overall pick in the 2017 draft. They stashed him overseas last season. He played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, averaging 6.9 points, 5.5 boards, 1.2 steals, 0.9 blocks and 0.8 treys in 21.1 minutes. However, he struggled in summer league play this month. It is unlikely Bolden is able to secure consistent minutes next season, as the Sixers have plenty of depth at forward.
Lets hire Pat Croce as a physical therapist. Pat is actually a family friend and one of the main reasons I'm a huge Sixers fan.
Covington is pretty bad offensively, still. Also, Fultz starts at “PG” and has barely touched the ball. Love having the NBA back
Did any of you ever look into the 10 game ticket packs? I didn’t request the info but was curious if it was worth it or if anyone here regularly goes to games.
Have quite a few friends with season tickets. Couple even through the tank, if you enjoy going it's more than worth it.
Well, you could also flip tickets now with how good they are. You could probably make back the cost of the tickets, especially if you get one or two decent games.
