Boateng looked so bad at the World Cup that I’m not sure he’s an upgrade let alone worth signing an inferior keeper to add. Factor in the kind of wages that he would command with his reputation and I think boateng would be a bad signing for anyone who has champions league aspirations. All of Germany was bad but he looked so slow.
Slow doesn't bother me as much as health. Per was rock solid for us for years and pretty sure half the thread could beat him in a sprint. Regardless, I just don't think he's a quality signing because he's not in half the games.
He struggled at Chelsea but he was so good at Monaco. Leo is familiar with him from his time at PSG. I'll have faith this isn't a shit Lucas Bigla buy.
Sounds like work permit issues so it may not happen. It's fine we still have like 2 months before the season begins right?
It feels that way because it is that way. Willy Boly (made permanent - 12m) Leo Bonatini (made permanent - 4m) Diogo Jota (made permanent - 14m) Ruben Vinagre (made permanent - undisclosed) Rui Patricio (free lol) Jonny Castro (loan) Raul Jimenez (loan with 3m fee) Joao Moutinho (5.6m) Adama Traore (20m) Leander Dendoncker (12m) Oleksandr Zinchenko (16ish if it goes through)
I'm just spitballing but it makes sense in a way. Keep your high performing team together and you can start the season seamlessly with no problems integrating new players. Plus, every other club "strengthens their squad" but not many of those clubs will actually be strengthened.
i definitely agree for the most part, but our midfield is pretty weak in terms of good/healthy players. dembele is typically only available to play 50-75% of the season harry winks is coming off a major injury, as is wanyama onomah looked mediocre for villa dier is probably going to have to cover in defense pretty frequently moussa sissoko would definitely be a huge deal for us to re-sign the key players, but i think a lot of people are slightly worried about defensive depth, and very worried about midfield depth
We need a cm and cb for sure, and if Danny moves we need a lb as well because Walker-Peters cannot play there at a high level.
Fine with this. He hasn’t really seen much time with us but he was going to be behind Brahim Diaz and Phil Foden among young mids and didn’t perform well when thrown in at LB (but he’s a CAM so that isn’t shocking)
Navas was better than Courtois during the last season. Curious how they figure out the keeper situation. I know Napoli really need a goal keeper curious if the go after Navas
How Real figures out the goalkeeper situation? They just bought their #1, there isn’t much to figure out
Nbc doing a deadline day show but I don’t see how it holds a candle to sky sports and their on location reports
