I haven't started watching yet, but I just noticed this show the other day. Seems to have flown under the radar considering everyone who is involved...

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock is an original story that combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King's best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.

Just started last night. 3 episodes in and I’m liking it. I’m a big King fan so I was looking forward to it.

I didnt read the book. Are their normal tie in's to other King material?

It’s based on all his books. There’s elements from all of his stories rolled into one universe. Not just the stories that took place in Castle Rock in the books

Watched the first two episodes. Ive only read 4-5 King books. I feel like Im missing a ton of references. Story is decent, but some of the winks and nods to King material seems to be more important than the actual plot.

    Still like it though.

I watched 3. I have only picked up two nods so far. I am not an avid King reader either though, and maybe there is more depth I am missing, but story seems pretty complete without it. I read Salem's Lot, The Green Mile, The Dark Tower Books, and Hearts of Atlantis. All were so long ago that I barely recall. The two things I picked up on were actually from other movies.

Bullet in the wall of the wardens office - assuming Shawshank Redemption reference to warden killing himself

Boy found dead by the tracks - Stand By Me reference

Maybe Pet Sematary with the dog in the suitcase or Cujo?

any other nods? I'm guessing the soliloquy by the dead warden about all the deaths in town had quite a few more references.

I really liked today's episode. I wish Hulu released the whole season at once. This would be a great binge.

Yes, I agree. Would much prefer this as a binge.

That said, I do like that we have time to think about what exactly is going on with the Kid. I actually don't think he is bad.

This week's episode was nuts. I'm loving this.

Also happy to see this got picked up for a 2nd season and that this series is going the anthology route.

Is nobody watching this? First 3 episodes have me completely hooked. This girl playing the character from Misery is acting her ass off

Is it a new story? I didn’t care for the first season.

Yes, completely different with the exception of weaving in all of the different elements of King's previous works to bring the stories together.

I started watching the first episode. It wasn't bad but I was super tired so I need to go back, but it features Lizzy Caplan as a lithium addicted manic mom/nurse who gets transported to the town with her daughter and Tim Robbins in a role that is not quite clear to me yet.

Waited until the new season was over so I could binge it. Lizzy Caplan is so good as Annie Wilkes.

I finally finished season two. It felt like a ton of work to get through. Just way too much insanity. The plot was just too nuts and interwoven and I felt there were better stories they could have told as an origin story. I did appreciate the last 10 minutes though as a prequel.
