I'm not unbiased enough to say it might not work out. I'm just getting pissed at people not giving it a chance. Everton are spending money because they want to be in the Top 6. You have to take risks. Liverpool made a bunch of shitty purchases just 4-5 years ago/City put a bunch of money to people that didn't work out when they started building 10 years ago. But getting "Bigger" names in helped bring in more. If we overpaid a little bit, it's because we had to. I'm just becoming a little defensive because it seems like people are making fun of us because we are trying to actually achieve something for the first time in 20 years. Edit: And like I've said. CB was the biggest need in this squad, so getting two good defenders, that may be great or may not be, is huge for us.
The team is doing the right thing to make the jump. My only concern for Everton, both last year and this, was the Bale 7 effect. You take a lot of shots, many miss, but most will take a few seasons to integrate into the team and get the right chemistry. It took time for those Bale 7 surviving players, a fluke academy product putting it all together in Harry Kane, and the right manager to put Tottenham in consistent top 4 contention. You've got to take these chances and when people say "overpaying" or anything like that, caring about transfer fees is stupid. Unless the fee will bankrupt the team, it isn't important. Wage structure can be a talking point, that actually changes players' attitudes and desires.
Yeah, so we are on the same page then. Most people we are bringing in this year are in positions of need, or fillers until we have kids ready from the academy Zouma gives Holgate one more year to really be ready. This may not be a top 6 year. But it could be if your team gels and next year we don't have to spend as much because the bulk of the needs were met this year. Last year was admittedly a disaster but that was because all of our signings were high wages and not really any positions of need, but rather luxury.
https://twelve.football/analytics?a...864fe9725447f8&viewType=total&playerId=164511 That is the link to Colombia's top player list based off the world cup alone. You see it has him ranked #1 overall You can click on "defense" and it will rerank just scoring for defending plays. You will see he was still ranked the best defender for the team. Its wasn't a huge difference but he ranked #1 https://twelve.football/analytics?analysisId=d1076d3cb4c5476a91864fe9725447f8&viewType=defence
David Sumpter is the creator of the twelve engine. This is a nice article on his work https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/wo...om-same-model-thats-dominated-knockout-stage/
Newcastle's record signing this year is a department store House of Fraser bought by Sports Direct for £90m https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-45140874
Barca could have gotten 50 million on Gomes by himself had they sold him last summer. Discuss that Marca.
That was my bad. First part was in reference to the Everton gang bang. Was going to make a Chelsea joke but I had to work or something.
I thought you saying “that was my bad” was saying it was an error I’m tired. I don’t really know what you’re saying right now
Nzonzi to Roma. Much need with De Rossi being old AF, Gonolans being trash, and Strootman being ok since losing his knees:
West Ham was trying to sign him... Think they offered 10m for the player. Genoa wanted 18m Genoa owes Milan 11m for Lapadula in 2019 What they did was essentially rework that transfer and bring in Laxalt to Milan. Milan will pay 3m upfront for Laxalt and Genoa will keep Lapadula. Genoa may also get 4m in bonus based on Milan/Laxalt performance.
I've seen a few rumors about him... I think the final targets are Malinkovic-Savic (40m loan + 80 obligation to buy + Borini) Riobot I guess if they strike out with both of those gents you could fall back on Gonolans
Sebastian Rudy given permission to leave Bayern, with Schalke being the probable destination. Would leave Javi Martinez as the only true 6, but the roster has 4,694,101 other midfielders, so I’m sure it could be overcome.
