Jim Brockmire so as not to clog up the other thread and in case you’re wondering ta Blue Jesus tattoo is basically a Jesus/religion is dead tattoo. It is blue to show him as being dead.
It’s an atheist thing. It was during my nietzsche stage. I was a college kid who knew everything. I am glad I didn’t get it
Can you get a fake tattoo to see how it would look for a while before really getting it or is that some pussy shit
You’d have to be able to find an artist to draw it on you. You’d end up spending a lot more than you would want. Best thing is maybe having someone photoshop. My artist did that with my neck so I could see what it would look like. But, I’ve been working with this Kat for close to 20 years. An artist you don’t know might not be willing to do it . Honestly if you’re not sure don’t get anything done.
I don't have any and just kinda wanted to see how it would look. I assume it's weird when you first get one and keep noticing it every time you look down
decided to start saving up for one gonna get the chemical structure for vancomycin wrapped around my right shin/calf - went septic with MRSA after an ankle surgery in high school and only dangerous levels of vanco kept me alive Spoiler
This shop in Atlanta is fucking amazing. I'm so intimidated by their work can't fathom how expensive they are (cost and num of hours)...
I’ll have to remember this place. I have a tattoo from everywhere I’ve lived except Atl since I started getting them after I moved away.
Been looking at a lot of nature scenes like this. Gonna happen eventually. I'm just concerned how fine line pieces are gonna hold up with time
Have daughters, want something on my left pec to shoulder for them. Have exhausted google and Pinterest, any ideas?
I'm in the same boat, wanna get some more work done and have it represent my son and daughter, I was thinking maybe something to do with a samurai protecting them or a bear or wolf.
just to get the ball rolling, feel free to shit on any of these, but things I thought about getting some for my kids - their footprints from their hospital newborn sheet (this is one I've always wanted somewhere) - their names in something creative like morse code (i have a C in morse on my ring finger as a wedding band) - if you wanted animals, look up their birth months and see what animals are their zodiac sign. Could have a design made of the two animals, one for each of the girls
Go through any of the artists at Bang Bang NYC on Instagram and see if you can’t get an idea / inspiration there.
Have an appointment for a quarter sleeve (artist’s words) on Saturday. Pretty excited. On another note, what do you all usually tip? I think I’ve over tipped the last couple of times, but I’d rather do that than under tip.
I usually tip 20% But that's with the guy who has done me a few time and seems kinda lax on hour counting and I like his work
I throw in an extra 20-40 on top of what I pay. That usually works out to about 15-20% it is weird when I first started getting work tips weren’t expected. Made my appointment for the other side of my neck. I am going to finish my back and do my ribs or calves and I’ll be done.
Thank you. The Artist is Eric Newby out of Chattanooga Tennessee. I'll link his Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/eric_newby
I was never thinking pirate ship, more of a play on a couple of lines from a couple of Jason Isbell songs, but I don’t hate the idea of a pirate ship either
Been thinking about getting my fourth and the first that wouldn’t be on my back. ‘O logos ein agape’ in Greek script on my inner forearm. I’ve almost pulled the trigger on it a few times but it’s feeling like the right time.
What does that mean? I am thinking of getting “Be all my sins remembered” on the fold/bend of my left arm
It’s a play on John 1:1 that I’d borrow from Dan Simmons, a sci-fi author. The idea being that the source of god (‘the word’ or knowledge) is compassion for one’s fellow man.
Yeah it was a bad college tattoo choice. I was itching for one in that spot, and somehow ended up with that quote. Now all is saved with the cover up. Also, bottom quote is, " Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance"
