Eventually you will learn to not listen to LSU football talk. Shit, I keep the games on mute half the time. Wish I could mute the jackasses around me in the stands. "Quit running on 1st down, jackass!"....as we line up for 2nd and 4.
In all seriousness- he is really good. He was a great kid too. Wish nothing but the best for him and we'll be rooting for him (and LSU) to do well this year.
I mean, it was never really "down" to anyone. Everyone has known Burrow was the starter since probably the first week of practice. But yes, the shade of us only having one other scholarship QB is correct and a result of the above statement.
Hair is trash, and bulge is subpar at best. Really glad Coach Mullen decided to pass on this young man, but I wish him all the best.
I believe best of the bunch (was only down to him and one other since two QB's transferred). The scrimmage numbers that came out last week were alarmingly bad, but I have only casually looked over reports of their practices on another Miami site...mainly because it is a dumpster fire of a site.
Myles Brennan. Top 100-150 overall player coming out of HS. He probably has the strongest arm on the team, but Burrow has (allegedly) been extremely accurate, which is what the coaches are placing the priority. Narcisse (who left), was highly recruited, as well, but hadn't really played in over 2 years because of tearing his ACL's and then the redshirt year.
No. He was splitting QB1 reps with Dwayne Haskins all spring. Tate Martell has some packages that will get him on the field this year, so between Dwayne being the starter and Tate have special packages, there just wasn't going to be any playing time. My guess is that if Dwayne got hurt, Tate would be the first guy off the bench due to his game experience.
He was never running 3rd or 4th string. He was splitting starter reps all spring. IMO if he stuck around he would have been the starter if something happened to Dwayne, with Tate still coming in for set packages.
I think this is what's confusing people. I'm fairly certain you meant to say if Dwayne got hurt Joe would have been the first guy off the bench which is 100% what would have been the case if Burrow stayed. Haskins and Burrow were essentially 1a/1b and Burrow, given his unique situation graduating early so he could play right away wherever, decided to move on.
Yeah, I realize that is confusing people. To be fair, I said it was just a guess. Haskins & Burrow are both traditional drop back passers. I could absolutely see them going with Burrow to fill in if Haskins went down. But my guess was that, since Tate would be playing most of the year with his special packages, that they might just turn the reigns over to him given his game experience. Again, just a guess on my end.
To be fair, given LSU's history with QB's the last decade or so, isn't that still probably a step in the right direction?
Our last third string QB to play #Alabama Crimson Tide beat the fuck out of them. Congrats #LSU Tigers
7 point win with Alabama throwing it into the endzone as time expired = beat the fuck out of At least we scored though.
