They’ve obviously got inspiration from the Arkham games in the combat. They should have left the counter button mapped to triangle instead of circle.
It was always gonna be that way, but having spiderman’s abilities makes the combat feel like fully realized potential from Arkham
just can't get over how fast-paced and crisp everything feels. the world is massive but traversing it makes it feel small (in a good way). i never really got into sunset overdrive, but the movement in that game was obviously really unique and insomniac was able to do a really nice job applying the feel of that game to spiderman
At lvl 26 and really can’t find a real weakness so far. I really like the research missions in that you’re literally cleaning up the city in addition to figuratively and the backpack pickups are little gold Easter eggs.
Ouch https://www.polygon.com/2018/9/9/17838210/spider-man-ps4-game-insomniac-easter-egg-marriage-proposal
i'm 49% done with this game and think its awesome. story and all is pretty great so far, took some turns i didn't expect. i will say that i'm annoyed they didn't include tom's restaurant in their NYC. definitely wanted to stop by to see Jerry and George.
Not sure what percentage I am through the game. But I am loving it. Trying to unlock everything as I go so that by the time I finish there isn’t much left. I have a hard time getting 100% on games if I’ve already beat it.
Same strategy I'm using. Whenever I unlock side quests or collectible set, I try and do all of them before I start whatever the next story mission is
I’ve gone district by district 2 or 3 times to clear out a big chunk of those to leave it more manageable. I’ll finish all of the map icons before I enter the third act if I can help it. Don’t want to interrupt the climax of such a good game.
Youd be foolish not to. Its better than Arkham imo. At worst it's on par. I loved Arkham asylum and city too.
So far I (I’m about 35% of the way through) and prefer the side missions in Arkham, but pretty much everything else I prefer this game
Arkham side missions really can’t be topped. I’m right around 55% through this and it tops Arkham Knight for sure. Asylum will be difficult to ever top for me. It’s pushing City right now. It definitely has the past Spidey efforts beat.
you didn't like flying around catching pigeons? i think my main issue with the few side missions i've done, and the game in general so far really is the lack of boss fights against big time spider-man enemies. the focus on just fighting thugs and demons most of the time is rather annoying to me. Spoiler shocker stuff was good, and kingpin was ok... made me think this game would be more along the lines of everythings going to end in a new villain's boss fight but i've been disappointed in that regard. maybe it changes later though.
My understanding is the boss fights are backloaded Some of the rogues gallery side quests in Arkham are sensational, specifically Zsaz and Professor Pyg
i did remember reading the middle portion was kind of a slog. kinda tired of walking around sneaking as MJ but whatever. it's still awesome.
There hasn’t been a thing I haven’t enjoyed. Traversal is fun enough to make the pigeon-catching type activities tolerable. I’ve heard the 3rd act is spectacular so I’m cleaning the map up before I enter the fucking thunderdome with this game.
I had a target gift card and got a slim 1t a few months ago basically for $150...I got it mainly in anticipation for RDR2, and thought about holding out for some sort of pro bundle, but I just said fuck it I want to play Spider-Man and don’t care to spend anything on an upgrade
Yea definitely looking forward to Horizon... RDR2 was the game I felt like I didn’t have the patience to wait on...post PS2/Xbox I’ve waited several years to pick up current gen...didn’t feel like I missed out too much once I got around to playing the big titles of ps3/360 generation. I have little doubt that the PS4 will easily eclipse that and I’m not even going to waste my time on Xbox this go round.
Enjoying it massively so far. Not very deep, only had maybe 3 hours last night to start it up. I love swinging around so much. I have to actively resist putting all of my skill points in the webslinger category for fun mobility.
I wish the backpacks were actually hidden instead of being random collectibles that they tell you where they are
i did webslinger 100% before venturing to other stuff. combat isn't nearly as easy but i enjoyed the swinging regardless. do what you want.
Unlocked all endgame side missions last night. I think I’m gonna have to go through and do some challenges again to unlock all suits
Missing 4 suits. I’ll revisit these challenges if and when I need to. Can’t say I’m a fan of that side activity.
I'm just gonna have to watch videos on how to ace them. I swear a fire escape always shows up to ruin my time score
All I want to do is go home and play spidey. Been deliberately moving slowly through the main story, sipping it like a fine wine.
Good lord, yes. Absolutely a contender for GOTY and outshined all of the Arkham games for me by the end. Time to get that platinum.
