Go back and read this thread. I suck at video games and kept asking questions and everyone gave pretty solid advice.
Update: I’ve upgraded my fast attack thing and I feel like fighting is getting too easy now. But god damn is it fun, just smashing square, casting the Quen sign, and repeating.
Bought the game of the year edition in November. Finished up about 2 weeks ago. Absolutely amazing. A throwback to old school single player games. So satisfying. Loved the expansions too
Currently on my seventh or eighth playthrough and still stumbling on new quests/encounters. If Cyberpunk 2077 is even half of this, I may never need another game.
Something that I skipped over in previous playthroughs was Dandelion's "Cabaret" quest. I shouldn't have, because It leads into another quest that is amazing.
Finally beat the 3 witches and decided to go into the Blood and Stone expansion only at Level 31. Got to the Toad boss and tried 3x to kill him before turning it off. I barely made a dent in that thing. Going to have to re-group and figure this out.
BIG NEWS: Henry Cavill will play Geralt in The Witcher, an epic, eight-episode fantasy series about monster hunters based on the best-selling book series!! Mehhhhhhhh
Geralt is the protagonist of the Witcher series but the people around him are what make the story special. Because of the Witcher's inability to feel, its more important who plays Yen, Triss, Ciri (if they are going that story line), etc.
Geralt is actually pretty boring character imo. Dark, brooding “badass” with the depth of a kiddie pool. You just need someone to look the part and build the story around them.
Geralts dry wit is one of the best parts of his character. I don't know how I feel about this. He certainly doesn't look the part but we'll see
Henry Cavill is at least huge and jacked. He’ll be able to pull off the physique of the fantasy steroid enhanced human, if nothing else. And the point about Geralt’s lack of emotion is perfect because Cavill is mostly wooden.
Geralt has that rugged worn in smoker look whereas henry cavil looks like a clean shaven baby faced model. Thats my main problem with it
Cavill is a huge fan who has read all the books and played all the games multiple times Could do worse honestly
He's an actor, they have a makeup department, that's not a problem at all. I'm more curious about the voice.
That’s awesome. That reminds me of the story where he missed the call that he got the role of Superman because he was playing WoW
Apparently, Netflix sent out a casting call for a POC to play Ciri.. and so the internet, has exploded with ignorance. I hate people
To be fair, it pretty much goes completely against the established lore. It's akin to casting Scarlett Johansson in Ghost in the Shell.
The BAME casting initiative in general has been controversial. Excluding people is kinda dumb but people get too wrapped up in it.
In both cases it just seems like people get their feelings hurt with an agenda. I’d like for the TV show to carve its own path and if they find a clever way to introduce Ciri as a POC then that in a way accomplishes that. Move the parts around to keep it interesting. We’ve played the games and read the books in a lot of cases, I want the TV adaptation to feel fresh and new. I’m not gonna cry over something so silly, especially if the show is quality
I think one of the main reasons Snyder’s Watcman adaptation is so controversial is by in large, he retold the story frame by frame. What that did for a lot of people was rob the the organic emotions we had when we read the book. If he’s have changed things up a bit more and did a better job of trying to capture those emotions through something a bit more original, it would have been a better experience. I’d like to see the show runners for The Witcher have an approach to that effect
Coincidentally, the casting was incredibly uneven. Comedian and Rohrshach were awesome while Silk Spectre, Ozymandius and Night Owl were awful. I do think the movie ending worked much better for that medium. A giant monster from Mars would’ve been ridiculous, but I’m someone who likes both the graphic novel and movie.
Just get the characters right, I don’t give a shit what they look like. It’s not about what they look like
Ciri is such a huge established character, seems odd to change that up. I'm sure there will be a plethora of articles that tell me what a horrible person I am if I happen to disagree with that casting decision.
Yeah absolutely. Couldn’t have done a better job with Morgan and Haley. It’s a shame they won’t be a part of the HBO series (that I’m aware of) because they were perfect. Making Ackerman is pretty af but an abysmal actress an awful for Silk Specter. Really didn’t exude any of the qualities from the book that made her special
If they can find an actress who has on screen chemistry with Henry cavill’s acting then more power to them.
It seems like you get on this train quite a bit and that’s fine, I don’t think you’re a bad guy. I just don’t understand how these things bug people in the least
Cast Charles Dance as Emhyr var Emreis since he voiced him in the game and a similar character to Tywin
I’m not one that complains about the ending, that’s the best part of the film imo. I’ve just read the book a hundred times and watched the stop motion comic a hundred more. I wanted the film to make me feel like the book made me feel the first time I read it and Snyder staying so close to the source really just made me feel like I was doing another reread
I get that. It’s why I roll my eyes a bit at book snob nitpickers of film adaptations. I’ve always seen adaptations as a chance for people to discover a cool book property, and not so much to rehash a written story to service fans.
Absolutely. I’ get upset when cool moments are left out but I in no way get perturbed and changes that make things fresh. Those that have read the stories know what to expect and the best way to honor us is to surprise us while keeping the spirit of the work.
Yeah, it's mostly me harping on the character design choices for Battlefield V. I'm a history nut, so it bugs me to see Asian women fighting for the Nazis or whatever. I know in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal. I just dislike the rebuttals that if you happen to dislike it, you're a bigot or something. This one doesn't really bother me too much, it's an adaptation of a work of fiction. It's not gonna stop me from being hyped about the show.
