Yeah I had been on the fence trying to decide if I wanted to rejoin the coffee cunt world (my french press broke during a move). Seeing that kettle at that price caused me to get it and a new Chemex. Looking forward to Wednesday when it arrives.

So my french press slipped out of my hands while handwashing it in the sink last night and shattered. I am now in the market for a new brewing device. I do not mind spending a little time in the morning making coffee. I usually get up a little earlier and hand grind my beans and then make a full french press and then bring it all to work with me in a 25oz thermos.

Should I get another french press, if not what is the current device of choice? Chemex Pour Over? Aeropress?

I take my aeropress to work and just make a cup at a time as needed.

Aeropress is a little small for that size. I'd go with the large clever dripper. Mine fits over my thermos just fine.

I’d go with Chemex or Hario v60 (size 2 or 3) for the house & an Aeropress for the office

So I bought another French Press, but a non-glass one. I am planning on buying a pour over as well in the near future.

quoting this for anyone new reading this. Have been a subscriber since March to the Coffee Collective. Unbelievable. Even with the shipping from Europe, the beans are off the charts. The Ethiopians I have received the last few months are so damn good.

Coffee Collective has been fantastic & a good value for what you get. My only complaint is that I don’t buy local beans as frequently.

I’ve been buying about a bag per month locally. It’s true I don’t buy as much but I can’t quit the subscription. As soon as the coffee arrives, my wife gets the local stuff and I drink the coffee collective coffee.

Anyone have this coffee maker? My wife isn't really a fan of how much counter space the Bonavita takes up/how it looks.

It makes things easier, but most places that sell beans will grind it for you. So you can get started without a grinder, but the fresher the grind, the better the coffee will taste.

You'll want to use a very coarse grind for cold brew, similar to French press.

In my experience, freshness has no bearing on the quality of cold brew

I drink a lot of coffee so I make three gallons per brew in a food grade 5-gallon bucket with a spigot. It is basically the same set up as the commercial Toddy. I usually buy these beans from Whole Foods for cold brew: https://www.allegrocoffee.com/shop/coffee/single-origin/colombia-agustino-forest. When you buy the loose beans that aren't pre-packaged it is $9.99/lb. I then grind them in-store rather than feed 1.5 lbs through my personal grinder.

For those who enjoy Coffee Collective I highly recommend also trying Tim Wendelboe, which I liked better when visiting both in Denmark. Both insane though and I think the monthly subscription for TW is much higher cost.

I made cold brew in my French press last night to bring in to work so I don’t have to drink the crap they have. I forgot how great it is, no bitterness at all. Next level snobbiness achieved.

Can I get some recs for some flavorful coffee? I know that sounds vague but I’m looking for quality coffee that has good flavor (I think someone mentioned Ethiopian beans that tastes like blueberries?), trying to move on from the nicer Kroger brands into certifiably cunty coffee

That's a super broad option, but my default are light to medium roasted Ethiopians within 2 weeks of roasting. I'd hit your local coffee shops and get pourovers from various regions to get a feel for what you like.

Buy some coffee and see if you like it. There might be good roasters more local to you but I know Onyx is well thought of in the coffee industry.
