Had a fantastic weekend in Asheville and the weather was just fine. Ate at white duck taco, Brueggers bagels, homegrown, Jerusalem cafe, and sunny point. Also had donuts at vortex. Drank at hi wire, thirsty monk, new Belgium, Catawba, green man, and burial. Also kayaked down the French broad. 10/10
Ha. I considered not even mentioning that one but I just listed all our meals. We were in a hurry to get to kayaking in the morning.
bier garden there was a liverpool watch party there for our quarterfinal match last year so it'll definitely be on and there will probably be a group of liverpool fans too
The German biergarten place downtown. I can never remember thename, may actually be "Biergarten," but would guess there's a good soccer crowd, lots of TVs ...
meant to add that with how much turner has fucked up this broadcast stuff, i wasnt sure how any bar would handle the streaming only games really wish pete's was still open
not as much as you'd think. had 2-3 flurries this winter and one big storm in december that got about a foot. asheville is surrounded by mountains which kills some of the bigger storms
Yea this new TV deal is absurd...they just said they tried and couldn't get it. So I watched it on my iPhone 5s screen while I drank their beer. So I think they won. But still can't believe turncoat Tobias
Tobias, I'll be in your fair city next weekend. If you are in town, let me know if you wanna get a beer at some point.
bier garden had a ton of games on when i went there last week. enjoyed it. no idea about the fight because i dont really follow ufc. i know the pool hall near my apt is showing it because they have it on their sign when i drive by. fat cats. pretty divey place but good beer prices and very good wings/bar food
the white duck owners just opened a fried chicken sandwich place and i shall be trying it this weekend https://www.citizen-times.com/story...rad-inside-dish-white-duck-owners/1818908002/
I'll be back to Asheville next weekend for the 2nd time this year. Looking for any suggestions for our itenerary. Places I've been: - Tupelo Honey - Buxton Hall - White Duck - Zambra - Biscuit Head - Vortex - Most of the breweries, including Sierra Nevada Places we are thinking about - Sunny Point - Salsa's - Curate - Strada - That new chicken place from the White Duck owners - Any other places I'm missing? Is Biltmore worth it?
if biltmore is done up for christmas it could be a good thing to do and i'm a sunny point fiend so make sure you go there
Curate is a bucket list item, but can be difficult to get a table during peak hours. Call ahead and still try to get in even if it's not a proper dinner hour. Also Sovereign Remedies has a great kitchen/cocktail menu and serves food right up until 2 AM, which is unusual for Asheville ...
