U20s played a weak line-up in that game. No Richards, McKenzie, Glosture, Mendez, Servania, Carleton or Soto.

They played their best line-up minus Soto who had a slight knock against Venezuela and won 3-1.

I couldn't find lineups for that game anywhere. Nothing in the ussoccer.com release or transfermarket.

It came out way later for some reason. USSF stinks at communicating info on youth teams like just tweeting below is to difficult. Basically have to find out after the fact from parents, players and journalists Twitter.

Dos Santos, Lindsey, Perez, Maloney, Vines, Jimenez, Cappis, Pomykal, Dorsey, Akinola, Dest.

    VEN Line-up was:

Scott, Glosture, Richards, McKenzie, Seevania, Torres, Mendes, Carleton, Lindsey, Dest, Akinola.

Konrad played 90 for Juvenil A in the UEFA youth league against PSV. Had an unlucky deflection that led to an own goal but assisted the game winner. Video here.

As weird as it sounds I feel like he's almost under-mentioned as a prospect compared to lots of guys in his age group. One of the youngest guys on their top youth team and one of their best players.

This would be San Jose’s territory and they have a pretty bad academy, but in general the net is tightening.

Seattle for example is targeting kids from these communities specifically with less structured soccer backgrounds. Of their best prospects all are of Hispanic heritage from places like Moses Lake, WA (way more rural and middle of nowhere than Salinas), Merced, CA, Bakersfield, CA and Las Vegas.

Great interview with their Youth Player Development guy on Scuffed Podcast from this week.

Translation from a German Hannover board

Sebastian Soto, our newcomer from the USA, comes in 6 games of the A-Junior Bundesliga North to a whopping 6 goals and 2 assists in 6 games. These are absolutely brilliant statistics, especially since the boy turned 18 only 2 months ago !!

If I had to guess which junior player width would be the next to first team training, I would clearly bet on Soto

After that, it would probably be Marusenko (ZM-IV) or Gloster (LV- LM)

That was before he scored against St. Pauli in a win today, who were previously undefeated. Believe he's now tied for the most goals in the league, with none of his goals being a penalty. Nice mention for Gloster as well.

On the international stage, Freeman earned his first selection to the U.S. U-14 Boys’ National Team for a training camp in November 2016. The following June in Zagreb, Croatia, he led the U.S. U-14s with a team-best four goals in friendlies against Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and club team Dinamo Zagreb.

Freeman has enjoyed a breakthrough year at the international level. He competed for the U.S. U-16s in April at the prestigious Torneo Delle Nazioni in Italy, contributing to a pair of group stage wins over Macedonia and Croatia before scoring in a 1-1 semifinal draw against Slovenia that the U.S. lost on penalties. He started in the third-place match against Japan and guided the side to a 2-1 victory. Freeman then received his first call to the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team in August for a Costa Rica training camp where he was the youngest player on the 23-man roster. He scored in his U-17 debut on Aug. 7 to help the Americans to a 2-2 draw against hosts Costa Rica.

Hopefully Efra follows suit. Need him out of their academy if USSF has any chance to sway him.

At what point do the MLS teams realize that they're training players for free and then losing them to Europe with no return?

It’s extremely complicated because of the laws in this country.

If they start asking for training compensation, then high schools, AAU, and colleges can start doing that for NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL players.

And there’s child labor laws here that might prevent it from ever happening. Garber recently came out and said he supports training compensation and solidarity payments but it won’t happen because of our laws.

Solidarity payments are the most likely to happen of the two.

They do. At least the smart ones. That’s why we keep seeing so many teenagers signed to first team contracts.

Yea I don't expect a big change in laws, but I could see the owners deciding that its a loss and cutting back on funding. KC seems to be doing a good job and seems to have been signing a lot of 15-16 year olds lately.

Risk/return of signing a home grown that doesn’t pan out vs. getting mckennie’d.

I really think that’s a lot of why Acosta fell off a cliff. All through their development he was the top prospect and Wes was the #2. He signed the contract and McKennie didnt and went to Germany and passed him up.

College soccer is also an issue that keeps kids from signing contracts early that other countries don’t deal with although its pull is declining at least.

FC Dallas offered McKennie early not super early like 15, but he turned it down for UVA and then ultimately went to Germany.

    From Sciaretta:
-Lara's Instagram now has only a US flag emoji, not Mexico, and he recently followed Weah and Pulisic.
-He's got stiff competition for a left back spot with Gloster and Real on the qualifying roster.

Seems like a nice guy to add to the fold, though.

I'll always be nervous if a country like Spain comes calling, but thats a long way away and he's only played for US national teams iirc, and we're likely to call him up and cap him way before they would. Only way I'd get worried is if he starts lighting it up in a top league and we're in a long period between opportunities to cap tie.
