So Conor threw a punch at one of Khabib’s guys while straddling the cage that he also attempted to hurdle
I think we can squeeze mocking/being mad at a fighter for fighting just below it in absurdity/irony, but just above dating a porn star and being mad when she is a whore.
Considering we now see Connor also attempt to jump the fence then throw a punch at a non fighter, it Def makes him much less the victim ppl want to paint him as
Another issue I have (not over it yet), is how quick Connor was to throw a punch at a trainer just after giving up in his actual fight. Man, you really pushed yourself to the limit fighting off that choke - exhausted huh. MMA is great because you can just be a beast and win. When you get forced into a fight of strictly skills/technique, you end up seeing a middle aged man with crippled hands literally play/toy with Connor and then TKO him in the round he had bets placed on.
The guy Conor punched is actually a fighter in the PFL, Abubakar Nurmagomedov, not that it matters much. Also watching big Herb Dean trying to scale the cage was hilarious. Cmon man
Twitter was so salty last night too. The insignificant fighters came out the woodwork. Conor needs to move on from Khabib. He’s not beating him.
Fuck yeah Khabib That’s the only thing that’s made the UFC relevant in a decade Khabib is obviously the GOAT
Yep. Nope. There is zero reason for a rematch but I'm sure that's where the money is so that's what we'll get.
Btw some of you pussies need to sack up Ron Artest attacked fans and didn’t get suspended for life All Khabib did is beat Conor’s bitch ass and then one of his teammates
Didn't even notice Connor trying to go over the cage as well before. And started the brawl in the octogon. This is what I pay...err...pirate a stream for. That was fucking awesome.
if some one is aggressively charging and it's reasonable to view them as a threat are you not allowed to preempt an attack by punching first? Not a lawyer, but I can't imagine the law is as cut and dry as who throws first without any other context being considered
I am a lawyer and all I can say is have fun trying to parse through the respective criminal liability of all parties involved last night. I believe the term of art we use in the biz for a situation like last night is “clusterfuck.”
I mean... NBA offseason drama is exponentially more entertaining than the on-court product, so you'd think they could respect drama.
Imo (but in Fla.) Conor gets a battery charge on the guy on the fence/cage. The 2 guys that jump in the ring get battery charges (red shirt maybe felony battery). The original victim from fence/cage gets a battery charge as well and not self-defense because it was not contemporaneous with Connor’s actions.
I think one of the craziest part of all of this is that Khabib was out of his mind raging mad at Conor and his team, and was able to put that away at the press conference, while he trained, and at the fight, and do what he needed to do. The second that fight was over, and he no longer needed to contain that, he lost it. He would have jumped on Conor again and choked him out if Herb wasn't there to pull him off. And then, obviously, continued with what happened after that. I can't imagine suppressing that kind of rage. Also, people here understand that others hold things that they might consider silly very, very important, right?? Conor knew that his religion, his family, and his country were THE hot button issues for Khabib, that's why he brought them up. That's what Conor does, that's what a lot of fighters do. Whether or not those are YOUR hot button issues is irrelevant. Fill that blank in with whatever the most important thing in your life is, and you can kinda see why Khabib was so enraged. People, including Dana, will say Khabib started this whole thing by jumping out of the cage. But I think that's a matter of perspective. Khabib, I think, would say Conor started it by what he said. Khabib was pretty clear that this was personal. It's hard to tell where gamesmanship and selling the fight ends, and reality begins, but I think it's pretty clear we know where that line is now for Khabib. Lastly, Can anyone say that what Khabib did was worse than Conor attacking the bus?? Conor hurt 2 fighters, fucked the card up, apparently emotionally effected Rose.... in the big picture, obviously what Khabib did was wrong. But it wasn't worse than what Conor did. Dana let the legalities work themselves out, and didn't punish Conor for that incident beyond that. True enough, Conor didn't fight for 2 years in the UFC and lost his belt, but that was also because he was focused on boxing. Had that not been the case, what woudl the UFC have done about it? Khabib's punishment for the UFC shoudl be in line with what Conor's punishment was.
Last night was such a mismatch that he could have just worn Conor down without allowing him to tap. Just continuing to hurt him until the match ended. Kinda expected him to tbqh.
Floyd-Manny did like 4.6 at $100. This rematch would be very big but highly doubtful it would sniff 3 million let alone 4.6
Nobody is making that argument. This thread was pissed when Conor did that too. I think the thought itt is that both were bullshit. However, as the Khabib incident JUST happened, that's the discussion point right now. It is absolute bullshit for 2 trained fighters to jump into the octogon and hit/attack a fighter just after he had an exhausting fight. Especially when one took a cheap shot to the back of said fighters head.
Right, I'm looking at it from the perspective of the punishment the UFC will hand down, relative to the punishment handed down for what Conor did in NY. I agreed initially with what you are saying about Khabib's team attacking Conor, but after seeing the other videos, Conor initiated the first part of that, swinging on someone first. That doesn't warrant getting jumped by 2 other guys, but who knows what would have happened if Conor didn't take that swing and start the in the ring portion of the melee. The 2 guys who went after Conor should be banned from all future UFC events. But Khabib shouldn't be punished for their actions.
Maybe I missed it but where were CM’s ringside guys during the shitstorm? Only one I remember seeing was the guy Khabib went after. Saw at least 3 or 4 of Khabib’s guys in the ring going after CM
Rewatched the Ferguson/Pettis fight and I did not realize the first time that Tony sliced up Pettis with an elbow as he was spinning out trying to recover from the shot he took. He looked incredible. I honestly believe he would beat Khabib
