My last guess on the opening night lineup (assuming full health beyond Green) Mantha - Larkin - Bert Ras - Nielsen - Gus Vanek - AA - Svech Abby - Glendening - Helm Witowski Frk DeKeyser - Daley Kronwall - Jensen Cholowski - Ericsson Hicketts
Wow, Cholowski, Ras, and Ehn all made the opening roster. Not that that says much long-term (re: Ehn), but surprising.
Only one game but this is an encouraging start... Khan says these are the pairings in practice this morning. Looks like D pairs will be: DeKeyser-Cholowski Daley-Sulak Hicketts-Hronek Jensen appears to be healthy scratch
Jensen could probably fetch us a late round pick. Not sure why we are keeping him up over Hicketts or Sulak at this point. Once the injured guys return I mean.
It is amazing this game is tied because we cannot sustain possession. We will be bad this year but watching Cholowski, I am starting to think we have a real life top pairing D in our midst.
He’s by far been the most impressive of the young D tonight even if you forget the goal. Sulak and Hronek look completely frazzled
Sulak looks inept with the puck. He skates well but doesn’t look comfortable with the puck in his zone First career NHL game so I’ll save my knee jerk reactions for at least another week. Cholowski on the other hand looks great
I guess I've never paid much attention to his abilities in this area, but has Howard always sucked at puck handling? He had a couple terrible turnovers because he wouldn't just leave it for the closest D man.
Some young guys I'm excited about but this team is still playing Abdelkader on the second line and Glendening played 3 on 3 in overtime. Not much more you can say beside it will be another long year. But I think this team could be a competitive team in 2 years. Need a couple more top picks and to figure out goalie long term.
Makes zero sense, and the only logic I could see behind it is that blashill wanted him to win the faceoff, but he proceeded to get kicked out of it before they dropped it.
I'm here to add to the Blashill love fest... - Glendening as mentioned (on the 2nd fucking shift of OT!!!) who by the way topped all forwards in ice time. WTF - Daley and Dekeyser ahead of Cholowski in OT. Always smart to leave your best skating D on the bench in OT - Rasmussen played just over 12 minutes (10th out of the 12 forwards) - Mantha (your best winger) played less than 15 minutes It's just one game and they had limited PP time yadada Not a good start by a coach/franchise that has verbally committed to embracing some type of rebuild and playing younger guys. That was not evident last night.
I didn’t watch the game but Daley got hurt early last night, leading to 25 minutes for Cholowski. He had two helpers.
0-1-2 is not too bad. Fully expected a loss to CBus and dropping 2 out west. Getting 2 pts in the first 3 games is not disastrous.
Cholowski is out for tomorrow with an upper body injury. He’s questionable for the Bruins on Saturday. Toronto is going to destroy us.
