I feel much better with our contractor or whoever is the supervisor doe the builder. He was pointing out shit I would have never thought off to correct. He also showed where they messed up before and what they did to remedey the problem. Drywall starts this week it the hurricane doesn't affect us too much.
Got popcorn ceiling professionally removed in areas with tall ceilings, stairwell, etc. Learned my lesson to never go with the cheapest option unless highly recommended by someone I trust. Crew never showed up/stayed as late as they said they were going to Used my vacuum to clean (still left a layer of dust on the floors). Dumped all the trash in my cans. Caught a worker on camera opening my pantry browsing looking for something to eat. Work wasn't bad but it wasn't worth dealing with them and their unprofessional shit.
Have ring doorbell on front and a ring stick up cam on back, that is solar powered, which is pretty cool bc you can be flexible on placement as long as w/in WiFi range. They do what I want them to do. Have an ecobee thermostat and also pleased with it. Presently monitoring ring cams from several hundred miles north to see if hurricane Michael sends a tree to kickstart/ seed fund my planned renovations.
I think I want to install a sprinkler system in my yard. 2 questions: 1) What are the go-to smart systems so I'm not watering in the rain 2) From those that already have them, is it worth it? Since having one installed have you been happy with the purchase. I like the look of a good yard, and I'd really like to set up a zone for my garden, and a zone for my main flower bed in addition to the yard.
same model house that we are under contract on sold for 40k more but on a lake with a nice pool 3 months ago. Want to hit the fiance with an I told you so for dragging her feet on Broward but I feel that won't end well for me
I have 2 Blink cameras. Amazon company. Mice features that comes with free cloud storage. Pretty happen with them so far.
Was at a cabin in the middle of nowhere last weekend. They had a TV that still had rabbit ear like antennae. What channel came in clearest? PBS. What did we watch Sunday morning while eating breakfast? This Old House. Main topic of the day was tank vs tankless water heaters. Thought of TMB
This Old House is near the top of the list of things I hated as a kid that I enjoy now. My dad would watch it on the weekends and I'd sit there in agony, now I find it entertaining.
Holy shit balls, just got home from work and my wife has the first 3 cabinets assembled. Not mounted but still. I don't know what to do with my hands.
Feel like we’ve had a ton of bad home luck lately, so I didn’t think anything of it when my wife told me this morning that it looked like an animal threw up in our side yard. I’ve been sick for the last few days, so I couldn’t get out of bed to go look at it. Fast forward a few hours, and she comes running into the room to tell me that the lawn guy flagged her down to tell her it wasn’t animal vomit, but human shit from a sewer pipe busting. I walked out to look at it, and it was a TON. And the flies were already circling. For once, things actually worked in our favor though. We called the county and they came out within an hour. Turned out the cap just came off and sand had gotten in and clogged it. They replaced the cap, got rid of the shit and ran a camera down to make sure the pipe was good. Total cost: $0.
Was watching South Park late last night and heard a sound from the ceiling in our living room. Thought it was rain at first, but it was dry as a bone outside. With my luck, it’s a critter of some sort. It might not even be in a humanly accessible location, which is even more awesome. Can’t wait to find out who/what my new overlord is.
So how can I rid myself of the 12 bags of 80 lb quikrete that we’re left in my garage by the previous owners? I was going to sell them and had the plenty of interest but have discovered they’ve all gone bad. Just progressively find ways to get rid of em?
We want to put a fence up at our house, HoA has to approve it first. Some stupid HoA rules regarding fencing that state we have to mimic whatever fencing the neighbor has if they put it in first. Im wondering if i get my fencing approved before my house is finished the approval is all that matters. We want privacy fencing.
3/4” oak, the rest of our house already had it, the kitchen and den were the only places in the house that did not have hardwood or tile already. We also ripped up the front entry tile and replaced and laced the hardwood into the adjacent space.
Gotcha, you have it installed or do it yourself? I was looking at replacing my dated hardwoods with a laminate later this year as the hardwoods are getting a bit beat up. Any advice?
These are shitty and have some separation issues in the joints. I looks like it was installed wrong. It needs to be redone completely.
Close in the 29th of November. Now just have to figure out homeowner insurance. I get reimbursed for the first year so I just have to find someone under the amount they reimburse. Holy shit so much to do.
I had it installed. It was interwove with existing hardwood so I wanted a pro to do it. For me, I am a sucker for hardwood so I choose it over anything. And hard wood as well.
Framed the back wall of the island, it is straight and true. Might be the most proud of this over all other things I have done home improvement-wise.
Dropped our offer to the bank by 40k because of the mold and other things from the inspection, but the specialist says it won’t be an issue to get rid of. It’s in the banks hands now.
what is a front load home vs back load home. i cant find anything on the internet as searches bring up washing machines and dryers.
Its in my HoA rules. They have different requirements for fencing for a front load home vs a back load home. Im not sure what my house is.
That was our guess but I'm having a hard time searching for it on the internet It appears to be where tour garage goes https://www.assaabloygaragedoors.co...ad-vs-side-load-vs-rear-load-garage-location/
Front load is when the garage is in the front. Rear load is when the garage is in the back of the house.
Out of almost 200 pieces ordered from Ikea for our cabinets, they gave us one wrong door (right size, wrong config) and a set of glass shelves we did not purchase. Not bad. Have some end panels to put on and some trim work to do on the corner that I customized but other than that, cabinets are done. Lighting this weekend, counter tops ordered tomorrow. After that, it is subway tile backsplashes, appliances set and then laying the island back with something that I have not figured out yet. So close, but still not done...
