This female prosecutor in E1 kinda pisses me off. I also know a number of attorney's that think with that frame of mind.
Probably so. I'd like to discuss this case because it eerily reminds me of shit in Baton Rouge. I'm about to start episode two after I get a cup of coffee.
The Saga of World War II: a Casus Belli Podcast Just finished all 15 episodes which are 30 minutes each. This is a comprehensive look at all fronts of the war. Enjoyed it immensely.
yah he is still going and there has been a pretty big gap since the last one. Still definitely worth listening to all the episodes he's done thus far. I thought it was a really good history podcast.
Legal Wars has the potential to be interesting. They review and discuss interesting legal cases. Their first case (Hogan vs Gawker) was a good recap. I had forgotten quite a bit about it.
I listened to Escaping NXIVM because I wanted to know more about that story. It started okay, and was informative. However, by the end of the podcast I hated the chick whose story was featured and came to the conclusion that it was less of a cult than it was a bunch of people that in retrospect feel like the suckers they are and are desperately truing to excuse their own stupidity.
I enjoyed it overall. But yeah she was super gullible and should have left many times before the branding.
The City is pretty good so far. USA Today docu-series about how corrupt Chicago was in the 80s / 90s. Basically every bad stereotype you hear about Chicago governing and politics wrapped up in to one story.
So I listened to S Town. Felt it was overhyped. Serial is good but I don’t like that many of these podcasts don’t have payoffs. (S1 guy is still in jail, stown never tied up loose ends, etc) Escaping NXIVM had closure, Dr. Death had closure. Any more podcasts that have a good wrap up/ending at the end?
Came here to post this. It got plugged on Dr. Death's feed so I checked it out. Its hosted/produced by a guy from the Boston Globe who was on their Spotlight Team. Great work
I’m just waiting for the five page essay that’s coming. To be fair though, I also think the most plausible theory is he’s guilty.
Finished Slow Burn S2 this weekend. Assuming it comes back for a third season, any ideas what it might cover next? Rabia, Colin, and Susan >>>>>>> Drew's malformed opinions
Season two of Up and Vanished has been a huge disappointment for me. Between the main person/subject being a terrible person, and the audio quality of most of the interviews being unintelligible, it just comes off as lazy.
Search feature isn't working for me to be able to tell if this has been posted yet, but "In Our Time" hosted by Melvyn Bragg is probably my favorite podcast. Each episode is hosted by Melvyn and features three guest panelists speaking about all sorts of topics from the following categories: culture, history, philosophy, religion, and science. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/598SVYJ2smP8qJlpH29y7Vj/podcasts
Can vouch Hundreds of episodes exist. Definitely the type of podcast you have to pay attention to. If you can't find something interesting that they have covered, you probably don't know how to read
To be fair season one wasn’t good because Payne is a good host, it was good because the subject and details were interesting. This season seems more cut and dry. Subject was a druggie, hung out with bad people, likely got killed at a drug fueled event and dumped down a mine shaft where no one will ever find her. Just a lot less mystery to the subject imo.

This may have been posted already but today the Charlotte Observer released a 7 part podcast on the Rae Carruth story: https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/article219305945.html
I liked season 1 of up and vanished but man that private detective almost ruined it for me. Gonna pass on season 2
Started listening to The Dream and Sold In America yesterday. The Dream is all about pyramid schemes and goes in detail about how MLM came to be Sold In America is about sex trafficking.
Not sure who it was but bravo on the Dr Death recommendation. Also fuck Baylor. That school deserves every bad thing that has happened to it.
I haven't listened to Dr. Death, but I have to now. I just learned about this guy and realized he graduated from UT Medical Heath Science Center a year before one of my best friends. I figured chances are he knows this guy. My friend's response: "Oh, I knew him. Asshole. I can't talk now, but I will call you with details later."
The Curtis Flowers case (In the Dark S2) is headed to the USSC, mostly based on the work performed by the podcast. They showed Doug Evans systematically struck black jurors from trials at a higher percentage than normal when it was a black person being tried. He also lost 2 previous trials and was “admonished” for violating the constitution on this previously.
Been listening to Hell and Gone(murder, who done it..), it’s pretty good. Is Crimetown season two any good? Really liked the first season.
Looking for good news podcasts or apps. I was surprised that when you type in daily news or news in the podcast search you don't get much.
