Yeah. The brisket for sure. Sausage was really good too. I liked the ribs better at Rodney Scott so would pass on those. Green Chile corn pudding and coleslaw for sides. I got some Edmonds Oast BBQ beer that was special for them they said. It was really good. Not sure they still have it. Should have gone today. It was beef rib Saturday.
Heading down tomorrow morning for BILs wedding. Docket includes: Home Team Xiao Bao Biscuit Bowens Island for rehearsal dinner Little Jacks Tavern burger Tattooed Moose Wife’s pregnant so won’t be doing too many brewery/cocktail only stops. What am I missing? Good spot for Masters viewing? Best place for a last minute dinner reservation for $20-30 plates?
Headed to Charleston Thursday and the weather is looking warmer than expected. Which beach would you guys suggest for a day? Looking for some good bar/restaurants to sit outside and drink. Folly/Sullivans/Other? Staying right downtown so an Uber trip either way.
Sullivan's is the best beach but there aren't any bars on the beach. They're all like two blocks off. They're much better than the bars on the beach at IOP and folly, though
Gonna be down next Thursday-Sunday with 8-10 guys, thinking Edmunds Oast, Minero and Lewis should be pretty good picks. We are staying in Mt Pleasant so will probably do the Shem Creek bars one night. Anywhere else we need to add in?
I'd target Lewis for Saturday lunch and at least split a beef rib since they're only available on Sat. Went to Stella's brunch last Sunday and thought that was outstanding. Seems good for a group too. Wasn't too crowded, big portions etc.
I mean, it's fine. It's not terrible. I just don't think it's all that. Not even close to Superica in Atlanta. Burger at the Husk Back Bar. Lewis on Saturday for the beef rib (and pork - it's as good as any in town). Xiao Bao. Tu. Ceviche tostadas at La Nortena. Pancito and Lefty. Ribs at Rodney Scott's (skip the pork). Burger at Downtown Home Team. Szechuan takeover at The Daily on both Friday and Saturday nights. Workshop.
Did Low Tide and Wild Olive tonight. Love what's going on over on Johns Island. Just need the infrastructure to catch up
At the rate they are developing Johns Island it's going to be years before the infrastructure catches up. Before the Wando River Bridge issue, Johns Island was the worst traffic nightmare in the tri-county area. Nothing on the horizon is going to change that unfortunately.
My parents just put a deposit on a new development on John’s island. They claim it will be finished next summer but I’m skeptical.
I guess. 54 condos and they haven’t broken ground as far as I know? My brother and I wanted them to get a place downtown since we’d just visit a couple times a year.
i heard about the wando thing. i think it's hilarious, these transportation problems are such a clusterfuck, but also so predictable and solvable
D:all's, Monza, Evo, crust, Luke's, zombie Bob's, juliets, basically any of the mobile ones that are at breweries
Oh and Edmunds oast brewery. That pizza is so good. split a grilled peach pizza there a couple weekends ago that was soooooo good
Someone give me the rundown on the IOP bars. Should I just go the the square where they all are and see what looks good?
thats the only place where there are actual bars. none are very good, the windjammer can be fun depending on who is playing music/how trashy the crowd is. dinghy is ok. the most fun is to go over to sullivans and do hometeam/poes/mex 1
if youre staying right there though, acme, coda del pesce, long island cafe, and seabiscuit (breakfast, but not as good as acme) are all good shit
Been crushing the kwei fei pop ups at the daily and sushi wa izakaya a ton lately. They're both so good
Arkadin any good beer events this weekend? Also, anyone with brunch recommendations? Fiancée went to Poogan’s Porch last weekend on a bachelorette party and wants to go again this weekend but looks like we can’t get a reservation.
My favorite brunch around is at Jasmin's Porch on Kiawah. We go 4x a year when my wife has an audit. Live music, ridiculous spread. Then go pass out on the beach for a while, or rent a cabana down by the pool.
They're fun. I mean you need to either like hockey or have a good crowd. Beers are cheap a d in person hockey is fun
Second the stingrays games. Cheap entertainment. If you have kids its a great event for them. Cheap tickets, cheap entertainment, good sports ... not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
Cheap? The tickets start at $15 each for the nosebleeds plus other fees. Add on food, drinks, possible souvenirs, and beer and it's an easy $150 night. We used to go all of the time but it's become too expensive to go regularly.
