I will be in your city this coming week for work. Will get at least 2-3 nights, might end up being the entire week. Where do I need to go? Staying off E Camelback Rd, which appears to have a diverse offering of restaurants/bars in the area. I've also heard Scottsdale is a nice little city for food, which doesn't seem too far away. Client is just south of the airport and a handful of miles west of ASU campus in Tempe
Little Miss BBQ for all that's good and holy. Right outside the airport. Arrive at least 15 minutes before opening. Beef ribs and homemade sausage. My eyes are welling up.
This 100 times except I'm keen to the brisket, easily the best I've ever had. Disclaimer I've never had the sausage. And then obviously the jalapeno grits.
Couple other good spots in that area Four Peaks Brewery a bit down the road from Little Miss is good. College-y but a good place for beer and the food is pretty good too Barrio Cafe - Great Mexican place, a tad pricier Blanking on what else is down there will update if I think of anything
Awesome, thanks. Price really won't be a barrier as me and the guy I'll be with will be expensing all meals through the client.
Fogo de Chao is right up the road in Scottsdale. Pricey but delish, Brazilian Steakhouse. And x2 on Barrio Cafe Breakfast Club for breakfast
I didn't want to sound like too much of a fatass but yes, the brisket is incredible, as are the grits. My wife had the pulled pork and the pecan pie was awesome. #TeamFatass
Yeah first time I went some hog mollies in front of me got lean brisket. Gave them a da fuq face and promptly ordered the fatty and it was heaven. Pissed the second the time I went I forgot to try a pie.
Trying to hit Little Miss today for lunch. Going to leave shortly to get there as they open. In other news, almost stepped on a rattlesnake last night on a hike at Squaw Peak (or whatever they call it now). That would have been a hell of a way to start the week...
For any of you bros who have spent a weekend in Sedona, tell me what I should be doing. Just got in tonight. Planning hikes for Devil's Bridge and Cathedral Rock at a minimum. Might knock out both tomorrow. Obviously there are quite a few hikes to do out here, but looking to maximize my stay until Sunday afternoon when I drive back to Phoenix.
Hello, friends. Going to visit my uncle in PHX. For two night, my wife and I will be taking the girls up to Sedona to check it out and drive up to the Canyon on the second/middle day. Any suggestions on where to eat, places to check out would be appreciated. We’re staying at the Hilton Bell Rock 8/1-8/3.
With more notice I’d have scheduled a work trip to be out there with you. Don’t miss out on AZ Wilderness
Correct on Wren House. On your way back from Sedona, stop in Flagstaff - they've got a number of good breweries. Downtown the All Trails app to check out hikes in the area. Fair warning, it will still be hot up in Sedona, but not oppressive like Phoenix. Some Sedona suggestions: - Elote Cafe - awesome food - Check out Tlaquepaque - cool shops. Oak Creek Canyon brewery is meh. - Indian Gardens Cafe - Coffee Pot Restaurant
I’d suggest not staying near the Grand Canyon, if possible. It’s an absolute tourist trap where you’ll be. The prices on everything are jacked up through the roof. Even the fast food is pricey. I’d hit up the GC, and go back to Flag for the night. It’s about and hour and a half away, but it gets you closer to phoenix.
We won’t. We’re staying with my uncle Monday and Tuesday night, at the Hilton in Sedona Wednesday and Thursday, then Friday night back in PHX with my Uncle. The Grand Canyon is going to be a day trip just to finally visit it/see it.
Yea really smart move. It’s breathtaking at first but eventually it’s a big ass hole that you’re staring into. So don’t be one of those folks that tries to spend the entire day there. Pick a few stops on the bus and see it from different views. Get the fuck out after a few hours, unless you’re gonna walk down it a bit(available at a few stops on bus)
Agree with this and I'll add that if you do have the chance to hike it someday, the north rim is a better option. No crowds, plenty of trails, the Grand Canyon Lodge is very reasonably priced also. Heading back there in the next three years to hike from north to south.
Hit Elote for dinner, no reservations so there will be a long wait, but enjoy a bunch of margs and it makes the time go by fast.
Goldwater Brewing is worth checking out if you happen to end up in Old Town. Craft 64 near there also has an all-Arizona taplist and some really good pizza.
Good afternoon friends. I’ll be staying at the Sheraton Grand downtown in a few weeks and need recommendations for a few good places to eat downtown. xoxo
Im not hip on the restaurants, can only recommend a few breweries. North Mountain brewery. Looks like a hole in the wall but is really good. San Tan brewery and 4 Peaks in Tempe. HTH
Downtown Deli Tavern, The Larder and the Delta, Cornish Pasty, Pizzeria Bianco, Forno 301 (this isn't technically right downtown but is in the bottom of my apartment complex and worth the walk or a few stops on the light rail), Chico Malo or PAZ Cantina if you want Mexican. If you like breweries, Mother Bunch is close to your hotel. North Mountain is a little bit of a drive but worth it. The hotel bar at the Sheraton also has 3-7 and 10-close $3 local pints (or at least used to, I haven't been there in awhile). Matt's Big Breakfast if you have time for breakfast. Definitely go for at least drinks at Bitter & Twisted. Their food is pretty good as well. Angel's Trumpet has a fantastic tap list but the food isn't as good as it used to be. The Whining Pig is near your hotel and has a great tap list, lots of local stuff but they only serve paninis. Hit me up if you have any questions.
Jimmy the Saint knows downtown Phoenix better than myself. However, do yourself a favor and check out Valley Bar.
spent one night in town and crujiente tacos was great snooze and butters for breakfast were also delightful
This is a good write up I would add the Arrogant Butcher downtown and if you’re looking for Mexican, while just a little north of downtown you should hit up Taco Guild. Cool setting in an old church and the tacos are phenomenal.
oh also grabbed taqueria la hacienda after landing before heading out of town some of the best street tacos i've had in a looonnngggg time
Arrogant Butcher is nothing special. It’s run by a restaurant group that just largely recycles the same menu with slightly different themes so maybe I’m just being a cunt about that. Not a huge fan of Taco Guild but it’s in an old church which is kinda cool. Wren House isn’t really downtown but it’s worth the Uber over there. Not much else around there though unfortunately. Also if you have a few hours to kill around lunch time go stand in line at Little Miss BBQ.
Not sure how it is these days but used to be on a weekday you could get to Little Miss 30 minutes before opening and usually wait total 45 mins - hour. Best briskett I’ve ever had hands down.
Went to State 48 Brewery for some apps and beers, and it was great. Had their English and American IPA’s which were both excellent. Heading to Pizzeria Bianco for dinner now.
It was good, but not what I was expecting. Maybe my expectations were too high going in? Really dug the crust though. A guy at the hotel bar said I should check out POMO. You all have a nice city, I’m really enjoying my time downtown.
Great call on PAZ Jimmy the Saint Currently enjoying my all night $3 margaritas and queso. Enchiladas on the way.
I am looking for brewery recommendations around the PHX area for New Year’s Eve. Any good ones that are a must try?
I like San tan and four peaks, I really like Kilt Lifter from Four Peaks and they have a delicious peach ale as well.
