Are the chase cards the only one that offer 1:1 points transfer to frequent traveler programs? I havent seen anyone else tha does.
Referral? Also the only that seems to be in a contest with the CSR is the Citi premier and that because of the 3x points on gas. We take a lot of road trips in my truck.
Referral as in someone sends you an invitation. You get the same offer but they get $100-$200 Just a note, and you can come to the credit card thread if you want a full convo on this, but signup bonuses count for lotsssssssssssssssss more than the "3x points on gas" stuff. Even if you spend $100 a week on gas which basically nobody does, that's only $150 a year. The signup bonus is $750+
BamaNug I was able to snag the last reservation for Central for 12:45 on the only day I'll be in Lima. The only issue is that the reservation is for 3 people, I'm a single. Since you seem to have some experience with Central, how would you handle it? Message them now and ask nicely or wait till day of or day before and say my friends couldn't make it?
Lima? Eat at Edo Sushi. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaur...do_Sushi_Bar_Miraflores-Lima_Lima_Region.html
That's a tough one dude. Have you looked online for anything re: a similar situation, on some message boards or reddit maybe? If it was me I'd probably reach out a few days beforehand.
Work opened up due to some recent developments, so 2019 is starting off pretty great: NYE -- 4/5 days in BC -- Vancouver and Victoria Island--been to Vancouver a few times, never to Victoria though Jan 16 - 21 -- Kauai -- booked this place for our last 2 nights, just outside of Hanalei on the north side: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/13222551 ------ looks like we're going to do first 2/3 nights on south side of island, either Poipu or Waimea ---pianoman FriendsofJtyler -- leaning Waimea, looks less developed and less touristy. I'm sure Poipu is incredible, but looks a little too resort-y/touristy for my tastes--and Waimea looks to have better access to hiking, with similar beaches. And I'm sure Waimea will still have great food and restaurants. Is all that accurate? April 20 - May 6 -- South Africa/Afrikaburn Flight for SA and 2 flights to Hawaii are going to put me out-of-pocket just $400-500, have a shitload of points. Driving to BC, so just need to pay for some lodging there and Hawaii.
Moving back to seattle in January. Going to do a lot more domestic trips in 2019. Banff, Vancouver, Alaska are all on the docket now
Going to book it in the next few days, not sure. Any suggestions? Do we want to stay in the city itself? House-sitting the GF's parents house in Vancouver for the first 2 nights, then take the ferry to Victoria from there.
will have knocked out both Alaska and Hawaii in 6-7 months, both super easy and cheap flights from here. Banff is on the list for next summer. 10-12 hours drive to Calgary, or ~3 hour flight. I've heard Jasper is almost the same topography, just a lot less crowded and a little more north. Let's grab beers when you're back to the greatest region in the US.
I stayed at Oak Bay because I wanted to splurge and it was awesome in the summer. I would stay outside the city but it doesn’t really matter
Re: Brazil--Was reading stuff about fuckface Balsonaro last night---place legit might be too dangerous for tourists while he's in power. Shit is scary. And sad AF
he's not even sworn in yet and shit is getting shaky added to the list with turkey of places i'd love to go but can't bring myself to in the current climate
Our Afrikaburn group is all Brazilians, 10-12 of them in a group chat with us. They're beside themselves, legit worried about their well being. Shit sucks.
Don’t know about the town of Waimea itself (haven’t spent much time there) but I think it will be pretty quiet. The west coast is hotter than everywhere else but you will have pretty close access to Polihale beach which is incredible. Also all those great hikes will be close proximity. As long as you know going in that Kauai aint Oahu (in terms of nightlife) you will love it. It’s really quiet, but beautiful with amazing hiking.
A good friend of mine is brazilian but has lived in America basically his whole life. He said he was shocked at how many people he knew who were supporting the guy before the election because they viewed the other party as corrupt. Seems familiar
Leave for Iceland in 11 days. Snowmobiling, ice caves, glacier hikes, and Northern lights tour. Should be awesome.
Kalepa Ridge Trail and Awaawapuhi are absolute musts. We did the latter super early with headlamps and had the entire trail to ourselves.
That's what I'm looking for--both of those are on the West side too, looks like. Easy access from Waimea. Thinking Polihale on Thursday (man that looks incredible), do some hikes on Friday morning before driving North, Saturday and Sunday doing Hanalei, fly out Monday afternoon.
I assume you can do both in one day? Awaawapuhi looks like it's only 6 miles roundtrip, and Kalepa Ridge is just under 2 miles total. And they're close to each other.
Waimea should work fine. Be aware that most beaches on the south side outside of Poipu are tough for swimming especially during the winter when the seas are rougher out there. I'd recommend renting a boogie board to take with you to Polihale if you go there as the undertow can be significant. Only food we had in Waimea was Porky's which is a BBQ food truck and was incredible. Ishihara Market there is supposed to have great Poke but we didn't get to try it. About ten minutes away is Hanapepe and we ate at Midnight Bear Breads and Bobbie's restaurant there and both were excellent. Get huli huli chicken at Bobbie's, it's a local recipe and is fantastic.
Let me save you some time: 1. Stay up late into the evening 2. Walk outside your accommodations 3. Look up Please Venmo me 5,000 ISK and we'll call it good. I'm sure that's saving you money too
Yea you could. It would be a lot but definitely doable. Maybe one early morning get lunch and do the other at sunset.
Thinking about getting a new day pack for day trips/taking around cities and shit. What's everyone got? Osprey talon 11 is the leader currently
I have the Osprey Talon 22. Maybe too big for your needs, but I love it. Fits under my seat on a plane, can put my camera gear in it, and use it hiking.
I had this for hiking in Glacier and liked the size but hated how sweaty my lower back would get where it sat. I’m currently sitting on a new pack (maybe a little bigger) that has more air flow for the lower back.
Yeah that's a little big for what I'm trying to do. My friend has an 11 and thats about the right size. Could maybe go slightly bigger, will check these out as it looks like it might fit the bill
Went to Austin this past weekend for a wedding and added a few extra days to explore (my first time in Austin...or in Texas for that matter): Tacos: 1) Veracruz - the Migas was a top 2 all time taco for me 2) Torchys 3) Taco deli 4) Peached Tortilla All good. BBQ: 1) Terry Blacks 2) Coopers Really disappointed in Coopers, brisket was entirely too fatty. I like the idea with just ordering meat by weight, and the sides were good. Would've tried more buta lot of stuff ended up being closed for veterans day. Far preferred Rainey St to 6th Street. Enjoyed The Alibi, Lucille's and Bangers. Did the capitol, the state history museum, walked around campus, Barton Springs, all good. I was deathly hungover for the history museum but realized I knew embarrassingly little about the Texas/Mexico/US history. Weather was relatively cold and shitty which definitely put a damper on things. And I don't mean this as a knock, but Austin strikes me as a cooler city to live than to visit. Also right as I got back I got some sort of food poisoning/stomach bug. I'm just going to pretend like it's not Veracruz that gave it to me.
Think I'm gonna get the osprey daylite. Went by the local backpacker store and seems perfect. Also only 50 bucks
took advantage of Hong Kong Airlines changing the plane on a flight allowing me to change my itinerary and now have enough time in vietnam for a mid-trip flight. free extension of trip from 6 days to 10 thinking fly into Hue for a day or two, train to Danang to spend a day or two in Hoi An and back to Saigon to fly out but Hanoi/Halong Bay is also enticing this shouldn't have been our first real international trip
the 2 days 1 night Halong Bay cruise trips are pulling me that way but people fucking love Hoi An, if I made it back to Vietnam it'd be to Hanoi so trying to balance that too gotta plan 10 days in south korea the month after this
