I have no idea what the last ones are and this is litterally my job, so i must be bad at my job or it must be small airports. lets hope its the last one.
I dont understand the people hating on ATL the busiest airport in the world and that shits easy. But guys lets have a heart to heart here. Whats with the fucking carpets in every American airport its fucking stupid.
Nothing like throwing down a few cold 20oz BLs when your regional flight is delayed an hour due to air traffic. Living that per diem life!
DET is not the Detroit airport code. It's DTW. The other two are Asheville and Northwest Arkansas, which are both regional airports, and there's no reason to know of them.
They are first class. The whole process is so much better from check-in, security, customs to lounges, food options, duty free options, etc. Fly business on the major carriers and it’s actually an enjoyable experience.
Pittsburgh’s baggage claim is small tiles and the wheels are so damn loud with everyone pulling their luggage. I’d imagine carpet is the cheapest way to to deaden that sound. Also it creates friction for the olds and spills don’t become safety hazards on carpet.
A top 10 list of the 20 largest airports is useless. Seattle and Portland don’t even qualify. Also LAX is a dump. San Fran always has some fuckery going on but at least it doesn’t feel like a 3rd world country.
How did Detroit not make it? The delta one is just one large terminal that’s a mile long. It’s really nice.
They always say to arrive at the airport at least an hour before departure — maybe even two hours before. The New Orleans airport you walk in, go through customs, and hey, you’re already at your gate. So small, but nice and convenient.
What is there to like about it? Its bland. Not the easiest to get to. Food/Lounge options suck. And if you arrive at a bad time doing customs can take forever. At least its not Gatwick. But best transit hub in London is St Pancras.
is Detroit the one with the terminal train that runs up above you? It might have been Minnesotas, but Ive had fine experiences at both.
That sounds like the McNamara (Delta) terminal in Detroit, yeah. But Minneapolis has a terminal tram as well.
Santa Rosa, CA is basically in one room. Deer Lake airport in Newfoundland is also small, but still bigger than Santa Rosa, and there's only 5k people in that town.
-Pittsburgh is an outstanding airport, very underrated. -Denver still #1 on my list. -I don’t hate Atlanta or Houston as much as some.
Ive found that people who hate ATL are usually bumpkins that don’t know how to function in the 21st century.
It’s only 45 minutes from downtown, is it that much worse than any other big city? Plus the light rail takes you right to Union Station and the 16th St Mall area and is very easy
I havent flown into denver in a few years. It just feels like its out in the middle of nowhere. If it's only 45 min - not too bad. Felt longer. Anyway the airport itself is great.
Customs at Heathrow can be a nightmare. Was over there for an NFL game this year and waited 2 hours. But the time before that...took 10 ten minutes.
No idea. Last time I was there was about 2-3 years ago and I drank about all the Dewar's that the Legal Seafoods in Terminal B would serve me.
Flew into Messena NY once. Pretty sure there were two employees there. The ticket/security guy (checks you in - including weighing you - and then walks around and takes you through the metal detector, etc.) and a baggage guy. Think there are two flights a day with about 20 total passengers.
Charlotte is my home airport and it has been terrible since they started construction about two years ago. It’s also always incredibly warm in the terminals and security gets dicey if you have one of the early flights. It’s easy to navigate and the little atrium area is nice with the rocking chairs and whatnot, but everything else needs work. Fly into and out of BWI a lot and other than the crazy far away off site rental car place it’s up there as one of my favs.
Houston is the worst I’ve ever been to. How George HW Bush has allowed his name to be associated with that place is beyond me. Maybe it’s the most obvious reason in that he’s never had to deal with it personally.
Best airport in the country is Dallas Lovefield. Not even close. Atlanta and LaGuardia are awful. DFW is pretty solid considering its size. I also like Charlotte, Charleston, Denver and Nashville.
For being the busiest airport in the world, Atlanta really isn't that bad. Just a scaled-up version of a mediocre airport. The international terminal is nice though.
