Reminder that R's will never do anything about this, but people like Jeb, Rick Scott, Ruvoo, and Trump wink and nod for them to keep doing it
Are you agreeing or disagreeing with me then? I'm not suggesting Pelosi outright be hostile openly to Republicans, I just think a lot of these new voters aren't hardcore centrists.
I do think it's possible that Pelosi is setting it up for them to continue soaking up rage. Call for bipartisanship now, then when Republicans go against every popular bill you put out you can condemn them for their partisanship. I'm just not convinced that's what's going on at all
with people who realize that republicans are irredeemable and that "reaching across the aisle" is not a fucking thing. it obviously doesn't have to be that abrasive or scorched earth, but there's a way to inspire change and hope without the garbage calls for bipartisanship.
Well there is a split congress so the message is either attempt bipartisanship on an agenda that we want or prepare for two years of nothing happening so we kill all of our momentum.
What I needed from Pelosi was for her to come out in a sleeveless compression shirt and hit us with one of these:
I'm still confused though, because I'm not a huge Pelosi fan either. Are you implying a lot of new Democrat voters are centrists that crossed over from the GOP or that a lot of new voters want Dems to push back against the right now?
I think looking like the sane balanced, civil and rational party is a better way to win in 2020 than to go very very liberal and just speaking to the base. At that point the political mudfighting would become unbearable even by modern standards and it could either result in a huge victory but it might just as well become so ugly that people wouldnt even bother with politics. Given that the "100% sure that they are going to vote" base for the republicans is way bigger I think the democrats should always try and be the more inclusive party. Getting down and dirty could backfire a LOT imho. That being said I think some policy, certainly social and economic policy they fight for needs to be brought across to give people hope. Thats what Obama did, he sold hope, the dream of a better tomorrow. Hillary tried to sell moral superiority and being owed the job (both very offputting). I think its imperative that they get the messaging right. They dont get away with just being fighters Think of the cliché illogical trump voter. Poor, urban, flyover state working a job that (s)he hates to provide a very unsatisfactory life. The democrat way of helping these people appear to have been tried for decades and its only getting worse. Lets be honest, the life of a guy in Gary Indiana has probably been getting worse. What do the democrats have offered: - More of the same What Trump offered(all false promises or things that dont fix the problem btw!!!) - Slapping Washington around (would actually be a positive but he didnt drain the swamp, he built a swampmonster) - "fixing immigration" (the whole they took our jobs bit isnt true, not even sort of, but it makes intuitive sense. Its one of those things you can sell even when its not true) - Our trade deals have fucked us (again absolute BS but it makes intuitive sense again. The US came out of WW2 and made all the stuff for everyone as Europe and Asia was both shot to shit. Therefore they could basically print money. That was always going to run out. That early declined at the same time global trade became more prevalent, so people drew a false correlation-causation. All those things are bullshit, flat out bullshit and the most people spewing it know its bullshit. Factory assembly jobs that provide an entire family with a living wage are never ever coming back to the US and honestly you shouldnt want them back. What you do need is a way for people in the middle of the country to have a way of providing a better life for their kids than they have. Education there is key. I'd go with healthcare and education all the way. If you get US healthcare to the price of the second most expensive country in the world you can give everyone free college tuition. TL;DR: The democratic way to win to me seems to be about hope, hope everywhere, not just on the coasts. Going to identity politics and other dirty stuff would absolutely kill them potentially.
It isn’t about centrism/progressivism. The new voters are from across the spectrum. They’re AOC voters and Elissa Slotkin voters. They want the GOP held in check and they want healthcare and they want change.
Sure, I'm in agreement with that. I guess I'm trying to understand what you were initially disagreeing with me about?
Especially if you allow an incorrect narrative of Pelosi to perpetuate. There’s change in name and change in action/results. I hope democrats gets their shit together for an actual plan to focus on the new diverse coalition of freshmen just elected.
Well Jacob and his dad are the only people I’ve seen claiming direct knowledge of the incident is fishy as fuck.
So the LAPD just showed up and arrested Avenatti based on absolutely nothing? An anonymous top with no actual victim?
http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/...very-women-dorner-manhunt-20160127-story.html Like, there are a TON of these incidents, but this one jumped to mind real quick
it really is hard to believe that the department famous for beating the fuck out of a guy for driving a little too fast would do something like that.
I assume they got some random woman to claim it for cash. That is assuming this is their doing. Would be unbelievably stupid so yeah they probably did it.
Wohl isn't exactly playing chess in any dimension if his plan to ratfuck the democratic party was to clear Avenatti out of the way. This type of plan wouldn't ever withstand scrutiny. It is too stupid for me to believe it, so it must be true.
It's basically SWATing, but there's a good idea who called in the report. Even it being the LAPD, I am struggling to think that they'd just show up and cuff him based on one call. Maybe I can see Avenatti giving the cops shit and that bruised their fragile egos so they cuffed him and took him.
